OS X V10.7 Lion :: Recommended Apps For Social Networking?

Mar 3, 2012

I just downloaded and installed OS X Lion, and I'm loving it so far. However, I've seen that Mountain Lion will have some new features when it comes to social apps (what I call the ones that combine twitter, facebook, rss readers and so on). I'm currently using Socialite, that combines all those three, but it has a few issues I don't particularly like. Plus, I'm using Adium for a msn client. I'm also thinking about downloading that beta version of "Messages" that will be released on Mountain Lion.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Error - It Is Not Recommended To Terminate The Process

May 24, 2012

I have followed the appropiate steps to transfer data from a PC to my iMac (with Migration Assistant). The transfer has been going on for 2 days now and I'm getting frustrated with the long wait. I think I must have asked to transfer too much data but when I try to cancel the transfer, I get a message saying that it is not recommended to terminate the process. What happens if I cancel the transfer now, despite the recommendation not to? Will either or both my computers suffer irreparable damage? Will I loose the data in my PC? Will I not be able to try again?

MacBook :: Is 4gb Ram Recommended

Jan 11, 2009

this is done by using one 2GB DDR3 stick and one 4GB DDR3 stick.

as the new macbook pros can take up to 8GB.. and there are only 2 ram channels, it will mean that they will use two 4GB sticks of ram.

would it be possible to buy one of these 4GB sticks.. combine it with a 2GB stick.. and allow my shiny new macbook to have 6GB of ram?!

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Can Use Disk Utility On 10.6

Jun 11, 2012

Last year I bought a new 17" MacBook Pro, that came with Snow Leopard 10.6. I think it was just before I got my new MBP that I got an invitation to try the Developer Preview of 10.7 and offer feed back. Well, after using my new MBP for a couple days and backing up everything with Time Machine to an external hard drive I downloaded and installed 10.7 Preview.

After a few hours of using it I was not happy with it at all (long story short, several things indicated to me this was a pretty early version of 10.7 and I didn't want to use it on this machine). So I erased the drive and restored everything from my Time Machine backup. That must have been around a year ago or so.

Now I want to add a 100 GB partition to this hard drive so I can install Lion on the new partition to try it again. But my version of Disk Utility (11.5.2 (298.4)) won't let me add a partition. It looks like it is going to add a partition but then I get "New partition requires a newer version of OS X".

I think when I installed the Preview of Lion it did something to my drive/partion for some of the new features it supports. But, if I can get a copy of the Disk Utility that comes with 10.7 would that run under 10.6? And let me add a partition?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Disk Utility Showing A Dmg

Apr 9, 2012

I was going to run Disk Permissions and when I opened it up, there is a decrypted file.dmg showing. Here is it's path:/var/folders/2d/vmlqi1 d0gzcs7mxi nnl 1w0000gn/T /decryptedFile.dmg...I opened it and saw that it has something to do with installing Adobe Flash Player. I remember downloading and installing it a couple of days ago. I've adonw this previously, but never had the disk image show up in Disk Utility before. How can I get rid of it? It seems to be in a folder calledl "T" that I can't find anywhere.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Upgrade To Airport Utility To V7.5.2?

May 14, 2012

I've repeatedly get: kernel: com.apple.message.domain: [URL].. I don't know for a fact what it means or what it's for but, after some research, the general consensus has made it quite clear that I need to upgrade Airport Utility to v7.5.2. The problem is that I can't seem to find it.  This upgrade, apparently, was available well before Lion came out.

Currently, I has v6.0. If there is a known issue with Airport that promted newer versions to be released, then why can I not update to the latest version available?  a direct reply would be nice.  Simply send me a message though Apple Support, if possible, or basic.woodworks@gmail.com, or simply reply on this forum and , I hope, I should get a notification.

Hardware :: Recommended All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Fax?

Apr 4, 2009

Anyone care to offer a recommendation for a Mac-compatible all-in-one (printer/copier/scanner/ +/-fax)?

I am thinking about the Canon PIXMA MX860. My only concern about it is I currently have a (much) older Canon that uses Canon's MP Navigator 2.0 software and I find it somewhat clunky and buggy (and the included OCR is crappy).

Curious if anyone knows if the MX860 comes with better Mac software. Or if there are better alternatives to this all-in-one.

I want to get an inexpensive SSD drive, I don't need that much space in the drive , I just need it to be fast, so I thought a 64 GB will fit my work easily.

The thing is, which model is the cheapest/safest for <= 200 USD.

Iphoto is using 300 mb, I've got firefox open, the New York Times Reader, Rhapsody's online player, Apple's email client, Itunes, etc. Do you guys think that 6gig's of memory is enough? Is more memory recommended? Would that 2 gig's of memory make a difference?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Utility To Compare Folders Visually?

Apr 6, 2012

Is there some Lion-compatible Finder-like utility that will do the following?  Display the list of files from two different folders, in parallel columns.Preferably display, too, such other attributes as you select (kind, date modified, size).indicate visually the differences between the two folders: -- (a) which files in the first folder are not in the second, and vice versa;(b) which files are in both folders but are newer in the first folder than in the second folder, and vice versa?

Obviously if a utility can list the contents of two folders next to one another, you could go through the two lists file-by-file. But that's not what I'm asking about.note that I am not asking about comparing and showing the differences between two files. Thus so far as I can tell, the following apps do not do what I'm asking about:Araxis MergeKaleidoscopePath Finder Path Finder, at least, can display two folders in parallel columns; but so far as I can tell, there's no way to get it to indicate what I ask in #3, above.
