View 2 RepliesI'm wondering if there is a product like this available... ideally it would be a attractive external Blu-Ray burner/player that I could connect to my Mac Pro to burn/read Blu-Ray discs (FW800 would be a bonus ), and then transfer to the living room to connect to my TV and view DVDs and Blu-Ray discs in 1080p.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've used my usb key to play movies on my sony blu ray player many times before. Now that I formatted the disk on my mac, I started to get a message that said the usb is not recognized. After searching around, I found possible answers, but none worked. I formatted the disk to FAT 32, but still got the same message. I tried making it into ntfs-3g format, but still nothing. Has anyone had this problem or know how I can format it so that I can play videos again on my blu ray player?

After a few minutes of rebooting the machine i will use spotlight and it will be very flickery. Like when updating results, the blue bar flickers white and blue very quickly and almost unnoticeable. Also, related, when scrolling a list in the dock through a stack shown in list mode, it flickers a lot there as well. Is this normal behaviour for these machines/leopard in general? I'm used to using a crappy old iBook so i dont know if im just being pedantic.

View 4 Replies View Relatedthis is done by using one 2GB DDR3 stick and one 4GB DDR3 stick.
as the new macbook pros can take up to 8GB.. and there are only 2 ram channels, it will mean that they will use two 4GB sticks of ram.
would it be possible to buy one of these 4GB sticks.. combine it with a 2GB stick.. and allow my shiny new macbook to have 6GB of ram?!
As of now, I have about 94gb free on my stock 5400 rpm 250gb (really 210) drive that came with my June 2009 2.53ghz 15inch MBP.
The drive is fine and everything but i am going to college in the fall and i can foresee this drive filling up to capacity in the near future.
I have a white macbook , its one with intel GMA950, and 3 GB ram ( tops at 3 gb )
I want to get an inexpensive SSD drive, I don't need that much space in the drive , I just need it to be fast, so I thought a 64 GB will fit my work easily.
The thing is, which model is the cheapest/safest for <= 200 USD.
I'm thinking of getting the recently released macbook with 8gb ram and a SSD. I will install the ssd myself if possible.
My primary uses are Lightroom, FCP and PS CS5. I guess this is a little underpowered for me but to get the 15" i7 pimped to the correct spec will just break me.
Im thinking of buying a mac, i've always used a windows pc though. Im gonna see what happends tommorow at the mac event but I want a Mac Book Pro. i want to dualboot mac os and windows 7 using bootcamp, parrallels, and refit. I've been doing some research on it and I would like some expert opinions on recommended settings to partition the disk. should I do 50/50 split or what? I'll either get a 320 or 500gb hard drive. I also see that some people split it three ways and have a 3rd partition for shared files, such as music, documents, ect. is this recommended or is this not really needed to share files between the 2 OS's? I'll probably be using windows OS more often or atleast use parallels alot until i get the hang of mac os. I also want to be able to sync itunes on both the windows and mac os, so it doesnt madder which operating system im on if i want to listen, download or sync my ipod, is there a way to do this? And lastly, I use outlook to download my comcast email via pop3. Is there a way to sync outlook in windows and outlook for mac between the partitions? I can not find any answers to this question online. Any opinions, recommendations, or thoughts about these subjects or buying my first mac in general is welcome.

I will have to run Windows for access to Access and I just wondered if anyone could recommend which way to go: VMFusion or Parallels? Or perhaps Boot Camp.... although I would prefer, ideally, to have both Win and OX running at the same time, rather than having to choose at boot-up.

Will be upgrading the RAM and HD. I know apple sells various hardware upgrades but I guess I'm hardly limited to what they sell.
Q:
-The FSB is @ 800Mhz so I assume I can get RAM at that speed?
-Can install better HDD than the ones origionally offered?
I was wondering wat the recommended temperature for the macbook 13". I've got SMC fan control and it shows mine it 56C but i set it to Higher setting but it doesn't stay onto the minimum speed i set it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt seems that the writing is on the wall for my macbook pro internal harddrive.... Currently limping along but I need to start in safe mode and occaisonally internet boot and run diskutil, fsck etc etc etc.... I think it's safe to say it's going to die soon! So, looking to buy a replacement internal hard drive for a 2011 15" macbook pro: currently I have the stock 750gb 5000rpm drive.Looking for recommendations: of course a 750gb solid state drive would be ideal but of course not realistic!

while i am using my macbook the screen will suddenly go blue and flash between different blue colors like it is trying to work. sometimes it comes back on but most of the time it stays like that. I have to force shut down with the button and then restart...about half the time it is still flashing blue after the restart and if it does work, it goes blue eventually.
dont know if its a problem with the screen or what because the computer continues to work...if there is a movie on, you can here it in the background and the screen just flashes.
What graphics card should I get to put in my Mac Pro?

Planning to order a new Mac Mini in the coming week and would like to get some advice as to what to go with in terms of memory - brand and model-wise. I will be going for 2 x 2GB of course.

Anyone care to offer a recommendation for a Mac-compatible all-in-one (printer/copier/scanner/ +/-fax)?
I am thinking about the Canon PIXMA MX860. My only concern about it is I currently have a (much) older Canon that uses Canon's MP Navigator 2.0 software and I find it somewhat clunky and buggy (and the included OCR is crappy).
Curious if anyone knows if the MX860 comes with better Mac software. Or if there are better alternatives to this all-in-one.
my 2.66 ghz Quad Core Mac Pro has 6 gig's of memory. I always have several application's open at the same time. I've got Aperture 2 which is using 632 mb of memory but sometimes it goes over 1gb. Iphoto is using 300 mb, I've got firefox open, the New York Times Reader, Rhapsody's online player, Apple's email client, Itunes, etc. Do you guys think that 6gig's of memory is enough? Is more memory recommended? Would that 2 gig's of memory make a difference?
