View 16 RepliesHow certain are we that (physical?) interference between the airport card/wifi and the graphics card can be cured with a download, and not actual hardware fix/repair? I mean, I know technology is advancing rapidly, but I'm not sure I can believe that a download can solve the issue that the 4850s are experiencing.

So here's the deal, I've currently got a 2006 Mac Pro with an ATI X1900XT video card and a 23" ACD.
I'm looking to add two more displays to my setup (most likely 24" Dells) for a total of 3 monitors and would thus require 2 graphics cards.
So here's my question, would I be able to keep my current X1900 card and add a second card? If so, what card would people recommend?
Being a history enthusiast of that era, I've been waiting for Empire: Total War to come out for quite a while. I'm also a bit of an enthusiast as well and would really like to get a new iMac. I'm just wondering if anyone out there is playing E:TW on an iMac with Boot Camp and how well it's been working. Any particular video card recommended over the others?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems with sometimes the computer turning on but getting no output from the graphics card. This seems to only happen about half the time it boots up, otherwise it appears normal. Sometimes it totally fails to wake up from sleep. I have been able to use Remote Desktop to gain access and have taken a screenshot of graphics card in about this mac when it has played up. It is a 2008 mac pro with 10.5.8. The graphics card is a ATI Radeon HD 2600.

if I choose 24"LED, I can't use GTX285 or other card in future from Nvidia
if I choose GTX285 I can't use *Apple* display (when i think apple will release only MDP port display)
If you be me, which one do you choose;
I currently have a G5 Power Mac Dual 1.8Ghz with 3GB Ram and 9600 Pro Graphic Card.
It will cost me about ?180 to upgrade to 4GB Ram with the Geforce 7800 GS Graphic Card.
Sell my G5 and upgrade to a G5 Dual 2.5 or 2.7Ghz for about the same ?180 cost.
If anyone knows which one will best please let me know.
My question is, will the Mac mini server work well with final cut pro, will the graphics card be enough for the program?

. I have a G4 Power Mac running OS 10.5.8. Three years ago I changed my AGP 4X Graphics Card that came with the computer. It was an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro. I installed a new Graphics Accelerator Card Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition. For the past three years it worked beautifully with clear sharp 3D imaging. However, on Monday April 26, my monitor started showing vertical and horizontal flickering wavy lines. I thought it was my monitor that went bad, so I tried another monitor from another Mac and it did the same thing. Luckily I kept my old AGP card that I removed. I reinstalled my old card and the monitor is showing perfect with no wavy flickering lines. Can anyone tell me what is the problem? Do I have to buy another Graphic Card? The Radeon 9800 was great for playing games with 3D imaging.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install a Geforce 8800GTS but when I start my Mac Pro nothing happens, my display doesn't start and I can't select Windows in the Bootcamp. Anyway I tried starting Windows directly too and the same problem, my screen doesn't start. But if the DVI is connected in the ATI 2600XT and I enter in Windows I can see the 2 cards in the device manager, but my 8800GTS is marked with an yellow icon, saying that the drivers are not installed, but really are installed...
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am looking at buying either a MBA 1.86 SSD, or a MBP. Given the new graphics card in the MBA I was wondering if the following apps work well?
- GIMP / Photoshop (very basic stuff done on them. Image size is usually A4)
- Parallel / XP pro
- AutoCAD (in Parallel. Again just basic stuff)
- iMovie (edit together short films of my daughter)
I use other packages, but I know they will be fine. This will be a secondary machine to my pc so I will only use it on holiday or when I go to meetings.
i want to hook up 3+ monitors to my mac pro, i currently have a 8800 gt and another was just ordered but i heard u cant hook up more then one 8800 gt at a time. i dont want sli i just want to be able to hook up multiple monitors. i have a ati X 1900 XT too and i can order another one if that will solve the issue. or if there are other cards that are newer and better that will work i can get that too. money isnt an issue, i just need the most powerful graphic card i can get right now, that will allow me to have more then 3 monitors. i know ill need more then one card so i just need to know which is the most powerful i can get and i can put more then one into the mac pro.

We are planning to replace a 4yr old PC with a iMac for a family use.My husband is interested in music, iTunes, Garage Band and internet browsing.I'm doing some lite photo editing and interessted in coping our DVD collection and making digital copies that can be played on the iPhone and iPad (wanting quickest conversion time) - our 6yr old son just wants to play a few educational games at this point in his life.My husband thinks that the "refubished" 21.5" w/ 3.06GHz C2D, 4GB of memory, 1TB hard drive and ATI 4670 graphics card with 256MB would meet our needs at $1,299.00

Exactly how much of an upgrade is the choice of a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS w/512MB GDDR3 over the default ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO w/256MB GDDR3 in the 24" iMac? Is it worth the $150 cost bump?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI would like to ask if anyone noticed any difference between the 9600M and the 9400M graphics card for norm web surfing, text editing, spreadsheet applications, and even watching DVDs. Is it true that the only difference comes when one is play 3D games which requires rendering? Where the number of frame rate per second is important.

According to this pages like this one [URL]
it seems to me, that the Geforce Gt 120 (ealy 20009 Imac) is in fact an MXM III,M76XT+/256MB,GDDR3 Card, witch means, its an Mobility Radeon2600XT from the previous Imacs, just on an MXM III socle ( it would get better benchmarks because of cooling an higher clocks).
I have a macbook pro and there is a slot on the left side, I think it's for cards? But no regular cards would fit, what does fit? What kind of things do you plug in there? I have no idea.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a late 2008 MBP and recently my logic board got exchanged due to my graphic card failure. However, since the work is done, a very annoying problem occurred. When I put my hand on my palm rest (right side, the hard ware side), it sounds like I am squeezing the whole thing down and it will make some very wired noises. It sounds like cracking or sth. I bring it in apple store twice and they said they do not hear anything. Anybody have a idea about this issue? Thank you very much.
