View 1 RepliesAnyone care to offer a recommendation for a Mac-compatible all-in-one (printer/copier/scanner/ +/-fax)?
I am thinking about the Canon PIXMA MX860. My only concern about it is I currently have a (much) older Canon that uses Canon's MP Navigator 2.0 software and I find it somewhat clunky and buggy (and the included OCR is crappy).
Curious if anyone knows if the MX860 comes with better Mac software. Or if there are better alternatives to this all-in-one.
I need fast, double sided printing over wifi (b/g) with good support in 10.6.
Doesn't have to be a great photo printer, but I do need colour. Scanner needs to be good enough for docs.
I'd prefer it to work well with built-in software and not come encumbered with ancient clunky software that needs Rosetta.
I've currently got separate Cannon scanner/HP printer, but neither work well with 10.6 (eg no duplex printing on the HP).
Would appreciate up-to-date advice as most info out there on the interweb is vague or for 10.5.
100 dollar budget to spend on an SSD for my mac mini as a boot drive.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAs of now, I have about 94gb free on my stock 5400 rpm 250gb (really 210) drive that came with my June 2009 2.53ghz 15inch MBP.
The drive is fine and everything but i am going to college in the fall and i can foresee this drive filling up to capacity in the near future.
looking for recommendations for a NAS drive that works well with a Mac.
I have a QNAP TS 209 Pro, but it's dying on me. It goes to 100% CPU. I do like the it overall, but it's pretty expensive.
Planning to order a new Mac Mini in the coming week and would like to get some advice as to what to go with in terms of memory - brand and model-wise. I will be going for 2 x 2GB of course.
I see here on newegg that one reviewer is saying that the corsair modules don't seem to be working with his Mac (isolated case?).
I have a white macbook , its one with intel GMA950, and 3 GB ram ( tops at 3 gb )
I want to get an inexpensive SSD drive, I don't need that much space in the drive , I just need it to be fast, so I thought a 64 GB will fit my work easily.
The thing is, which model is the cheapest/safest for <= 200 USD.
The features that are really important to me are:Time machine compatibility iTunes server built-in. I would of gone for time capsule except it doesn't support itunes server - i take it that it's still the case regarding time capsule.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking of getting the recently released macbook with 8gb ram and a SSD. I will install the ssd myself if possible.
My primary uses are Lightroom, FCP and PS CS5. I guess this is a little underpowered for me but to get the 15" i7 pimped to the correct spec will just break me.
Trying to get my boss to agree to let me have a MBP. I will have to run Windows for access to Access and I just wondered if anyone could recommend which way to go: VMFusion or Parallels? Or perhaps Boot Camp.... although I would prefer, ideally, to have both Win and OX running at the same time, rather than having to choose at boot-up.
View 13 Replies View RelatedSo here's the deal, I've currently got a 2006 Mac Pro with an ATI X1900XT video card and a 23" ACD.
I'm looking to add two more displays to my setup (most likely 24" Dells) for a total of 3 monitors and would thus require 2 graphics cards.
So here's my question, would I be able to keep my current X1900 card and add a second card? If so, what card would people recommend?
I currently have a 450MHz Cube with a standard CD-ROM. I would like to add a CD burner, but I'm debating whether to buy an internal burner, perhaps one that originally came with the Cube, or a faster external version.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook with 10.5.8 on it, and I installed a driver for my HP Deskjet 5740 printer, but it doesn't give me all the options I used to have (such as grey scale or fast draft).
In reading through the forums I think there is a different driver that I need perhaps? I've tried deleting and re-adding the printer, and re downloading the driver as well.
I've seen some people have solved the problem with Linux drivers for other printers, but I have no idea how this works.
So, I connected my printer up, and found out it doesn't work in SL.
I have a HP Deskjet F4100 series printer. And I just found out that there isn't any drivers for it.
So, is there any work around, as this is the best printer in the house, and I really don't want to work off the Vista machine.
And, could anyone hazard a guess at how long it would take them for new drivers?
I have an Epson and a Canon inkjet printer connected to my Macs, and I am trying to find profiles for different inkjet papers that I can add to the printers so that they will print correctly on the papers.
The available paper types listed in the printing options are very limited and don't include options even for the range of papers sold by the printer manufacturer.
i'm looking for a printer that can print 11x17 paper and on cd/dvd's and of course work with a mac.
scanner and wireless would awesome but not required.
I'm looking for a good laser printer for my Macbook Pro (currently running OS X but soon will be with Leopard). It's for home use but will primarily be printing sheet music so the clarity needs to be good.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a new Macbook Pro with a built in bluetooth transceiver. I want to use it to connect a printer. It is a more difficult technique than it seems.
I have gotten a certain way into the problem. I downloaded and installed a CUPS driver for my HP printer from the linux openprinting site. I tested and proved the driver installation by printing over a USB cable.
I am stalled short of actually printing anything over a bluetooth link. The printer adapter is a Belkin, and the Mac recognizes it, and sees through it to the printer. But it cannot print. (The printer image bounces up and down, and the Mac insists the printer is "off line". In fact the printer is on-line.)
In other words, close, but no cigar.
I am happy to switch adapters if there is one more compatible with the Mac bluetooth.
Apple support does not have a list of printers -- nor can they name any printer or bluetooth printer adapter -- that has been demonstrated to work.
Another option might be to disable the built-in bluetooth and use a dongle instead.
Has anyone been down this bluetooth printer path? I would welcome your insights on which adapter and printer actually worked.
anyone know where to find it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm a bit confused here. I pay my phone bill online and recently started printing the receipts to the "pdf printer" on my mac so I can store them electronically. However, I cannot find the folder where the receipts are being printed to. Does anyone know the location of this standard folder in Snow Leopard?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a Apple Mac Pro running Snow Leopard yet it does not print on any of the 3 printers connected to the network. The Mac sees the printer but there are no drivers for any of MY printers.

After my recent purchase of iWork '08, I have realized that I need a printer to print off my pages documents.
I am looking for a wireless printer as it will be downstairs with my iMac upstairs. Another capability that I would like my printer to have is CD and DVD printing so I can print onto DVDs that I make and burn on my iMac.
So I'm deciding between getting an HP P1006 or Brother 2140. My concern with these printers is their durability. I have had a Brother HL-2040 for 1.5 yrs but it was an awful experience, I had problems with paper loading. But, several websites say that the Brother 2170W is great. So, I am tempted to buy the 2140 or 2170W but I am not sure if it will be durable. I want to know which one do you guys think is more durable for use with MacOSX Leopard: HP or Brother?

View 4 Replies View Relatedthis is done by using one 2GB DDR3 stick and one 4GB DDR3 stick.
as the new macbook pros can take up to 8GB.. and there are only 2 ram channels, it will mean that they will use two 4GB sticks of ram.
would it be possible to buy one of these 4GB sticks.. combine it with a 2GB stick.. and allow my shiny new macbook to have 6GB of ram?!

my 2.66 ghz Quad Core Mac Pro has 6 gig's of memory. I always have several application's open at the same time. I've got Aperture 2 which is using 632 mb of memory but sometimes it goes over 1gb. Iphoto is using 300 mb, I've got firefox open, the New York Times Reader, Rhapsody's online player, Apple's email client, Itunes, etc. Do you guys think that 6gig's of memory is enough? Is more memory recommended? Would that 2 gig's of memory make a difference?
