MacBook Pro :: Can't Change Print Settings On A Mbp / Printer Settings OSX 10.5?
Jun 26, 2010I have had my MacBook Pro now for a little over 2 yrs and I was very frustrated I could not change any print options in any application. I know that the Triangle button expands print options screen but when I do, I have only two print choices. It gave me Standard or Page Attributes in Office and any other App it is Standard and Last used settings. I can't print in Draft, Best or other setting because it does not even give them as a choice. I have two high end color photo printers, Canon i9900 and Epson Photo series and an old HP830 series. Any app I tried to print from and the same thing. I tried to capture the options on the choices but it would not grab that part of the image but here is my screen shot. I searched many forums and I still get the same answer so something else is not letting me change things so I figured best to ask since I am a 20 year win user now switched to Mac. Well right after I posted this question, my wife found the answer. I never though to check the application NAME in the print setting screen. Example, in the screenshot I am using Preview. I never thought to hit the up/down arrow next to the Preview label and wouldn't you know, that is were the quality and several other settings were. I felt pretty stupid that it took 2 years to figure this out but if I posted the answer maybe someone else will not have to take as long as I did to change their print quality!

May 20, 2012I have an HP Laserjet 1525nw. When I try to print any PDF that has color, in the print preview, the page(s) is white. If I go ahead and print, it will print a blank page. Black and white will print fine. My printer is very low on color ink but full on black. If anything, shouldn't it default to grayscale for color. My windows computer uses the same printer but will print anything.

Apr 3, 2012All software/firmware/drivers are up to date. I restarted my imac and the printer with no luck. Even the "clean print heads" feature only comes out in black.

MacBook :: Screen Color Settings Change After Screen Saver?
May 8, 2009so this has happened twice now in the past month, my mb is in screen saver mode and i wake it up to find that the color is off in the screen. meaning that the color settings changed and the screen has a swashed out blue tint to it. first time i restarted and all was good, second time i clicked on the preferences icon and then the screen went back to its normal setting. my normal setting is not the factory one but one of the ones that people said makes the screen look better.
so what gives, is the integrated chip dieing on me?
oh its a unibody that i got when they first came out, 2.0 processor one all factory

Feb 20, 2009before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.

Nov 30, 2014My wife has an iMac (I don't know any other way to identify it e.g. model number), and she has this 3rd party calibration software that I'm trying to use. I am not used to a Mac, and I cannot find the display settings for the monitor. There are no buttons on the monitor, and when I go to preferences, I can only find the brightness control. I've googled this and cannot find a clear, simple answer. I have used every version of Windows (currently on 8.1 on my PC) and it's easy for me on that platform. I suppose it's just that I don't really know how to navigate Mac OS.

May 21, 2009I changed my Mac to 10.5.7 when it was sent as an update since then my old epson1160 wont let me use print settings or colour management they both have a line through them. In the dialogue box it says the bundle print settings could not be loaded because it does not contain a version for the current architecture contact the bundles creator listed here for the latest version 1.29. I have updated to the 1.29 version and got rid of the gutenburg driver as suggested by another forum but it has not changed I still have the same problem.

Jul 25, 2003Is it possible to select a default printer/print size that is not in the default print size list that OSX offers for "Any Printers" or in the Print Center.
Its just we're trying to run a kiosk on a touch screen iMac that needs to produce a receipt from a small receipt printer that doesn't use a standard print size.
So therefore I need to have OSX set to print to this non-standard size every time it boots up.
Are there any pref files I need to change? Or can I do this through the GUI?

Jun 28, 2014I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer!
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.

I go into system preferences>displays>color and try to adjust color on my monitors but selecting different color settings on either monitor only affects ONE monitor, the other monitor is essentially stuck at whatever color setting it is set to.

Dec 6, 2010I have had difficulty in attaching my HP Photosmart C5580 printer to my new MacBookPro (OSX 10.6) through my Netgear WGPS606 print server. After much searching I found previous posts here which advised me to add the Gutenprint driver 5.2.6 which I did. That finally DID successfully attach the printer through the server.
However, there is a lag of many seconds (sometimes minutes) between the SEND command and the starting of the printer. Is this the new normal that I need to expect or is there a fix?
