View 1 RepliesSo my brother gave me his old iMac G3, and I want to know, is there a way to update the graphics thing on this computer so I can do atleast SOME gaming? If so, please tell how!
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed an update on my macbook, but once it completed, it got stuck at the blue loading screen with the swirling thing for more than 10 minutes (I started to pay attention when I noticed it hadn't booted up faster, so I'm not exactly sure how long it took). It eventually restarted itself though. It's happened once before, but I did what I use to do on my old windows laptop and just held down the power button until it powered off, let it sit for a little bit, and then booted it back up. It worked just fine.
My question is, is anyone else having this problem and is there a fix? Is this something I need to be worried about? Did I somehow mess something up by powering it down and back up before? Forgot to mention what macbook pro it is (if it matters). 15in MBP, OS X 10.6.4, 2.4GHz Intel core i5, 4G RAM...
After doing the update to OS X 10.7.4 on my MacBook Pro, I am experiencing a few problems. First all my applications would not open any more - almost none of them - so now I am running them all in 32-bit mode. This also happened with Safari after the last update. The second problem, my sofware update is not responding anymore? When I do a software update, it fails, giving me a problem report. The report is pasted below below.Â

My software update is frozen and I cant get it off. I can't quit the update and I tried restarting it but every time I try it says to try later because the update is running. So I have tried letting the battery die thinking that would restart it but when it started back up again the update was still stuck. The loading bar is still up there and is solid not moving strips. What can I do to quit the update?

I did a software update a few days ago - it required me to do a Safari update. Since then I am unable to use safari. When I open Safari, it gives me a msg saying that Safari quit unexpectedly and will send report automatically to Apple. I have tried many things on the web. Deleted the application, and reinstalled. I tried from the original app installation DVD. I have also cleared the cache folder under library.

I installed Lion OS X on my iMac and was happily working on this morning within Safari for email. Tried to open iTunes and it wouldn't and was then notified that there were 5 system updates which I installed. After that I can no longer get Safari to open - notification says "Safari quit unexpectedly."

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just ran a software update on my Apple Server that runs on 10.6.8 and got the software update quit unexpectedly.
I removed the apple.softwareupdate.plist under library preferences and empty the trash also. I ran the repair permission and it seems to repaired some permissions. I ran the check disk and the disk is OK. I reboot the server and got the same problem when I run the Software Update.

Since upgrading to 10.6.1 I've found that every time i wake my MB from sleep, applications keep quitting left and right, and I get these "application quit unexpectedly" messages. It's happened with Entourage, Safari, iTunes, Dashboard. It's getting pretty annoying. I've tried resetting the PRAM but that didn't help.
Does anybody have a clue what to do?!

A little over a week ago I did a software update--not sure what exactly was updated. Since then, Software Update, Safari, Pages, Numbers, iPhoto (not sure yet what else) won't open. Within seconds of clicking the icon to launch, they crash with the message, "Pages quit unexpectedly." I tried restarting MANY times. Is my computer toast? My other applications still work like Word, Firefox...Â

How do I close an application that won't quit and doesn't show up in the force quit dialogue box? I was trying to open Printer Pro but it doesn't show up in the finder and when I tried to put it in the trash it says it can't throw it away because it's open. The forced quit dialogue box does not list it as open. What do I do?

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor the first time today since getting my MP back in April I had to take out my boot hard drive which is also the one that came with the system. I pulled out the HDD with it's attached shoe/slide thing and noticed that the ape/baffon/genius that had fitted the factory drive had over tightened the screws thus squashing and tearing the washer/jacket that the screw sits in. Now being a perfectionist and also the fact that I paid nearly 2000 for it this isn't what i expect from Apple. My question is though: will they take my word that it wasn't me and replace the slide for free for will they say that i did it and say I should pay for a replacement?
Note: I just did a bit more research and found the the proper name for the shoe/slide thing is hdd carrier.
First of all, is the interface for the MBA HDD PATA or ZIF or is it the same thing? I'm looking to get rid of my 80GB HDD and would love to get a 160GB but I'm willing to settle for 120GB.
