Since upgrading to 10.6.1 I've found that every time i wake my MB from sleep, applications keep quitting left and right, and I get these "application quit unexpectedly" messages. It's happened with Entourage, Safari, iTunes, Dashboard. It's getting pretty annoying. I've tried resetting the PRAM but that didn't help.
Does anybody have a clue what to do?!
I just ran a software update on my Apple Server that runs on 10.6.8 and got the software update quit unexpectedly.
I removed the apple.softwareupdate.plist under library preferences and empty the trash also. I ran the repair permission and it seems to repaired some permissions. I ran the check disk and the disk is OK. I reboot the server and got the same problem when I run the Software Update.

I installed that freaking Google Notifier and I have been getting this message "The application GoogleUpdateChecker quit unexpectedly" every 30 minutes.I already uninstalled it and this message is still popping up.How can I delete this file so this message won't pop up again?

Recently, after a clean install to Snow Leopard (from Lion). I can no longer open the desktop and screen saver preference pane. I click, it hangs, I click again, and the entire system preferences unexpectedly quits.
I've googled and searched, deleted all of the plists mentioned in most of the threads, I've removed caches, created new admin accounts, tried logging in as the root to no avail. I have my drive partitioned between Tiger and Snow Leopard. I am trying to move myself over to Snow Leopard so I don't have to keep switching. The problem is that my old apps that alledgedly will work in SL, give me an error box when I launch them. It happens with Appleworks 6 and Quicken 2007. Not sure what my wife did but I have a copy bar that states Downloading untitled download to downloads. There is a bar indicating something is happening. There is an x next to it to stop it but it will not stop. I tried to shut down my computer but it will not let me as there is something running. Is there a way to force quit like in windows with control alt delete?

I searched the forum, but saw a lot of sleep issues. None quite like mine. I have a MBP 13" bought in June. When I close the lid, it goes to sleep just fine. When I open it, I can hear it start up. The sleep light becomes illuminated, but then about 5 seconds later goes back to sleep.I have tried to hold the power button and shut the computer down, and start it back up. When it starts up, it shows the white screen with the apple logo, then goes blue, and is about to load the log-on screen, and goes back to sleep. I have already tried an archive and install, and a erase and install. Neither worked.Occassionally it will start back up if I just wait 20-30 minutes. Sorry about the long log, but I do not know what information is needed. I tried to wake from sleep around 1:27 in the logs, and it actually let me boot up and log on around 1:53. To give you an idea of what I was doing to cause these

I had a problem over the weekend where my iMac would wake up seconds after putting it to sleep, and also rebooting after shutting it down. I've not been able to find out any more info about this bug outside of the Apple support forums so I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. The original thread in the Apple forums dates back to early September so it looks like the 10.6.1 and 10.6.2 updates didn't address it. Is it a very rare bug I wonder?
PowerMac G5 OS 10.5 Leopard - I am getting this error message. If I start up from Install Disk and try to Reinstall the OS, it throws an error message stating "Cannot verify Disk." If I start up from Install Disk, it goes directly to OS Installation without utility options. If I DO NOT Start up from Install Disk, little is recognized, including Main Menu Bar at top. If I insert Install Disk, it does not recognize a disk was inserted to work off. This all happened when: I chose to do a clean restore on the HD to sell the PowerMac. During the process, I had to stop it and I followed directions. Quit Install and select disk to restart from. I chose my HD and proceeded.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince downloading 10.5.1, I have had the message below pop up about every half hour. Almost every time, I click "Report...." to send to failure to Apple. I have also tried clicking "Relaunch," but that done nothing to fix the problem. Half an hour later, the popup comes back again. It has happened now more times than I can count. I have tried to research what this application is, but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this or to at least get rid of the pop up?

I just bought an iMac G4. This machine has been great, until a few hours ago. I was surfing Camino, when I went to go to IE for Mac (to check my Gmail, because Camino crashes when I go to Gmail) and then the same website I typed in on IE [URL] showed up in Camino. Of course, Camino crashed. Then, Camino started itself back up again, automatically surfed to [URL], and crashed again. Then Camino started up again...(and so on)
So I chose to force shut down the computer via the power button (which was probably a bad choice). When I got back on, I tried starting Camino. It crashed almost as soon as I clicked on it. I tried again...same thing. I soon came to realize that everything to do with the internet (Camino, Safari, IE, AIM) crashes the same way (almost as soon as you click on it). You ask how it crashed? Just the normal "This application unexpectedly quit" type.
Entourage stopped opening on my system a few days ago. When I attempt to launch I receive the message in the subject line. This happens from both the alias and the program icon. I am on OS X 10.5.6 and this is the first time I've had any trouble w/Entourage.

But as soon as I click on one of these messages or any RSS, the application quits and I get " mail application quit unexpectedly" msg.

My biggest problem is that my imac won't wake up and I am forced to shut it down by holding the power button, it happens about once every two days and it is quite annoying. Also (I don't know if this happened before or not) the apple symbol in the menu bar changes every two seconds, not a big deal but just weird.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm using an iMac (late 2011) with 10.7.3. I'm doing things on the computer or some process is going on when the screen instantly goes black (no dimming first). If a video was playing, I can still hear it playing, but pushing keys on the keyboard or mouse or pad does nothing to wake the screen. Sometimes pushing the power button a number of times will get the screen to come on, sometimes it won't. When the screen goes black, if an external drive was running and then stops, I can sometimes get the screen to come to live. Sometimes this black screen happens when I'm burning a DVD; when the DVD is finished, I can bring the screen to life. I thought one of my two external drives was bad, so I disconnected it. That seemed to help (though verifying the disk revealed no problems). But a few minutes ago, the screen instantly went black again; no dimming first. There have been times I thought this was associated with a new bit of software, but then it returns even after I delete the suspect software. Sometimes I have to use the power button to shut down the iMac then restart it. Once, I had to unplug and replug the iMac before I could get the computer to respond and the screen to return to life. I don't know if this is a hardware problem (internal or external), a software problem, or some combination...or something I haven't thought of, at all.

After doing the update to OS X 10.7.4 on my MacBook Pro, I am experiencing a few problems. First all my applications would not open any more - almost none of them - so now I am running them all in 32-bit mode. This also happened with Safari after the last update. I did a software update a few days ago - it required me to do a Safari update. Since then I am unable to use safari. When I open Safari, it gives me a msg saying that Safari quit unexpectedly and will send report automatically to Apple. I have tried many things on the web. Deleted the application, and reinstalled. I will soon be getting a new macbook pro ret (soon) and will leave my macbook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008) in the office where I am situated in university. I am looking to ensure that I can leave one at office and one at home. Yet keep access to both, I have seen "logmein pro" and seems to look good except one problem. It says to wake from sleep you need a computer on network running logmein. This I cannot guarantee as it is a university network. It also says that it will need to be linked to the network through cable to wake from sleep.
I will also need to close the lid of the laptop (or leave it open and risk trashing it) and have a password/login lock incase someone decides they want to be naughty. Anyway, I need a program that i can use over wifi (not highest priority) that WILL wake my macs from sleep (highest priority) and WILL (essential) allow me to have full remote access to computers including drag and drop. I dont care about accessing from my mobile as have drop box.
