why is my software update pop "software update quit unexpectedly" and needs to reopen?

After doing the update to OS X 10.7.4 on my MacBook Pro, I am experiencing a few problems. First all my applications would not open any more - almost none of them - so now I am running them all in 32-bit mode. This also happened with Safari after the last update. The second problem, my sofware update is not responding anymore? When I do a software update, it fails, giving me a problem report. The report is pasted below below.

I just ran a software update on my Apple Server that runs on 10.6.8 and got the software update quit unexpectedly.
I removed the apple.softwareupdate.plist under library preferences and empty the trash also. I ran the repair permission and it seems to repaired some permissions. I ran the check disk and the disk is OK. I reboot the server and got the same problem when I run the Software Update.

Since upgrading to 10.6.1 I've found that every time i wake my MB from sleep, applications keep quitting left and right, and I get these "application quit unexpectedly" messages. It's happened with Entourage, Safari, iTunes, Dashboard. It's getting pretty annoying. I've tried resetting the PRAM but that didn't help.
Does anybody have a clue what to do?!
I'm running OS X 10.6.8 Safari version 5.1.4.I updated my macbook today per the update suggestions and now safari gives me this error every time I try to open it:

I did a software update a few days ago - it required me to do a Safari update. Since then I am unable to use safari. When I open Safari, it gives me a msg saying that Safari quit unexpectedly and will send report automatically to Apple. I have tried many things on the web. Deleted the application, and reinstalled. I tried from the original app installation DVD. I have also cleared the cache folder under library.

I installed Lion OS X on my iMac and was happily working on this morning within Safari for email. Tried to open iTunes and it wouldn't and was then notified that there were 5 system updates which I installed. After that I can no longer get Safari to open - notification says "Safari quit unexpectedly."

A little over a week ago I did a software update--not sure what exactly was updated. Since then, Software Update, Safari, Pages, Numbers, iPhoto (not sure yet what else) won't open. Within seconds of clicking the icon to launch, they crash with the message, "Pages quit unexpectedly." I tried restarting MANY times. Is my computer toast? My other applications still work like Word, Firefox...

Is anyone having trouble with Microsoft Office since installing the latest 10.6.9 software update? Suddenly I can't save a document or even quit any of the applications, though they open and can display existing documents.

I have no clue how long this has been going on but every time I either reboot or turn on my Mac, my mac gets that "Mac OS X Quit Unexpectedly" error.
The weird thing is that I get no kernel panic or crashes or anything. If you recommend reinstalling Leopard, why don't I just rather wait for Snow Leopard
This is my first time posting here, and I don't really like signing up to forums but this is a crisis. My problem is, I cannot open any application whatsoever. I can only open up Firefox, but everything else just jumps around the dock for a second and the error message "the application ______ quit unexpectedly". So if you try to open it again, it just bounces around the dock and the error message appears again. I've uninstalled the apps, and installed them again...NOTHING.
This only started happening after I updated to the Security Update 2010-004 (1.0). I know for sure that's the culprit, but I don't know what to do. It's putting me through so much stress, I almost feel like crying. The worst part is, when I click system update, the system update itself jumps around the dock and disappears to only have that "the application _____ quit unexpectedly".

We recently updated from 10.4 to 10.6 and now every time I open Photoshop (4.0) it runs for maybe 30 seconds then stops and gives a message that Photoshop unexpectedly quit. I really need this program for my school work.

Recently, after a clean install to Snow Leopard (from Lion). I can no longer open the desktop and screen saver preference pane. I click, it hangs, I click again, and the entire system preferences unexpectedly quits.
I've googled and searched, deleted all of the plists mentioned in most of the threads, I've removed caches, created new admin accounts, tried logging in as the root to no avail. I've got my crash report:Process: System Preferences [1141]Path: /Applications/System Preferences.app/Contents/MacOS/System PreferencesIdentifier: com.apple.systempreferencesVersion: 7.0 (7.0)Build Info: SystemPrefsApp-1750100~13Code Type: X86-64 (Native)

View 10 Replies View RelatedMy software update is frozen and I cant get it off. I can't quit the update and I tried restarting it but every time I try it says to try later because the update is running. So I have tried letting the battery die thinking that would restart it but when it started back up again the update was still stuck. The loading bar is still up there and is solid not moving strips. What can I do to quit the update?

Update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. Does anybody know how this can be fixed, since the error message appears every time I try the update. Other updates run smoothly.

I have my drive partitioned between Tiger and Snow Leopard. I am trying to move myself over to Snow Leopard so I don't have to keep switching. The problem is that my old apps that alledgedly will work in SL, give me an error box when I launch them. It happens with Appleworks 6 and Quicken 2007. I've installed Rosetta but don't know what else to do.When I launch either application, it says it unexpectedly quit and gives this info: Process: [code]
View 13 Replies View RelatedYesterday Apple released Safari 5.0.1 and Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, but Software Update on my Mac makes me able to download only the first one (Safari 5.0.1) - which I did. Why can't it find the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?
- My MacBook is fine (it's 13-inch, Mid 2009).
- My OS is fine (Mac OS X v10.6.4).
Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.
I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.

I updated with the latest Lion patch yesterday and since then Entourage has either hung or taken a very long time to update from our 2003 Exchange server (I have MS Office 2011 but as you're probably aware, there are issues integrating with a 2003 Exchange server). how this might be fixed, short of updating both our 2003 Windows Server to Windows Server 2008 x64 and Exchange to 2010 so I (the only Mac user out of 85 staff) can use Outlook 2011?
