What Is OS Version Profile Of 500,000+ Reported Infections
Apr 8, 2012
what is the OS version profile of the 500,000+ reported infections? Apple patched only Lion and SL.What of Leopard, Tiger, infections?
Info:
iBook G3, 12"PowerBook G4, 15"PowerBook G4, iMac G5 20", 60GB iPod, 2GB Nano, Mac OS X (10.5.2), Mac OS X Server 10.4.11 Tiger and a Compaq V6000 Core Duo, Dell
I've mitigated my profile from my older iMini to my new iMini. Everything worked out fine but I've noticed that [on the new imini] I have to input my password twice. Once I log on and input my password, my profile comes up and ask me again to input the password. I also have a unsecured startup deice/item (display) message displayed once the system comes up. Can I create a new profile and basically move all my documents over to the new established profile.
my system fonts are jacked up and fill in lines in Safari are not readable as the text is bigger than the fil in window. Also my laptop is running harder, hotter and the battery life is less than half of what it should be. I also get text overlap line to line sometimes in Safari.
I have restored my OS with a clean install and then recovered my profile from Time Machine, this is how I discovered its my profile. I added a clean profile the first time I rebuilt the mac and it ran much faster, with less hardware usage and longer battery life. Once I began to recover my profile the system was same as always slow with Safari issues mentionee earlier. I switched to the temp user account profile and the system is fast no Safari issues and less intensive activity going on, battery life good etc.
If I rebuild the mac again I am not able to recover the profile/account without issues, I would like to move just what I need to a new profile/account from Time Machine but it doesn't allow access to the original admin account for a selective restore. I would like to be much more granular about the restore and just move my documents and such. I don't want to recover the applications or application data at this point as I don't need it. I would rather re-install just the apps I need at this time. Other option would be to clean my account/profile so that it runs as it should or move everything I want (mostly documents) to a new profile for improved use.

Since there's been sometime, about a couple of months?, that users have been using it maybe it might be a bit premature to ask, but surely it's enough time for some problems to have at least started appearing?
I bought a new higher spec (MD322X/A) MBP three months ago (yeah, so I'm a newbie from Windows and didn't know how close WWDC was) that has 1GB of video memory. The About This Mac window reports 512MB of memory. I called JB where I bought it and the guy said this is fine and it will report 1GB in system properties, which it does appear to but I'm not yet convinced that all is well. So, apart from paying 3 months ago what I could have bought a retina display for today, is it normal to report 512MB in the About This Mac window if I have 1GB? Also, after the spontaneous purchase of the MBP because JB didn't have a new iPad in stock, they don't appear to be that much cheaper than other retailers anyway?
I'm trying to clear out my iMac 10.4 OS X because I'm handing it off to a friend (moving overseas, can't keep it anymore) so I've been deleting most of the stuff off the drive...I had a folder titled 'keeping' which is obviously the stuff I wanted to transfer to an external hard drive, it was about 50 GB worth of stuff. I updated everything on the mac and then restarted it and now I can't find that folder. All that's on my desktop is the 'Macintosh HD' icon, and not the 'keeping' folder. I've searched multiple times on the finder and on the computer in general for this folder, by name, by files in it and nothing!
Yet, it says I have only 137.44 GB free (out of 250 GB) and I literally have nothing else on the computer (my iTunes library also got wiped, but I'm not as worried about that).I tried 'showing all hidden files' with the command function and I couldn't find it and then I tried running the disk utility on the drive and got the message of "The underlying task reported failure on exit" and that it needs repairing. I've screenshot it here: http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/3094/picture1puo.png or here if that's too big: http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/8417/picture1pua.png You can see it's in there. I have 95 GB used and 523,499 files on it somewhere but I have no way of finding it!
It appears that either disk utility or finder are misreporting the free space available on my main partition. Finder indicates there's 33GB available and disk utility inidcates there's only 23GB available. Anyone know why there's a discrepancy? Which figure is the right one? Also I'm trying to resize the partition (to be smaller) but disk utility always errors out on my. I want to increase the size of my windows partition since i'm finding I need the space there more than I need it in OS X.
I'm running OSX 10.4.11 on a 12" PowerBook 1.5 GHz with 1.25 GB of RAM and an 80 GB HD. When I run the disk Utility to Verify Disk, it ends with the message, "Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit." This happens if I run the Disk Utility from the hard drive, from the OSX installation disk or from an external hard drive. The Repair Drive button is always grayed out no matter where I am running the disk Utility from, too. I have cloned the entire hard drive onto an external drive with Carbon Copy Cloner. I know PPC systems won't boot from a USB drive, but I was considering booting from the install disk, re-formatting the drive from there and then re-installing from the external by running CCC from there.
I have a 2GHz unibody Macbook. I don't know how to figure out my color profile but I thought this a bit.
I compared my color to my friend's iMac and I noticed his colors were more bright and deep. Is there any way I can upload another color profile and make it look better?
I bought a new 2TB Time Capsule, and had problems completing the initial backup. I finally sourced the problem to files that were buried deep in a stack of folders, which seemed to make the file name/path too long. Anyway before I realized that I tried to reformat the Time Machine, and this seemed to work ok. However Airport Utility is now reporting the Time Capsule Disk Size as being 1.8TB, rather than 2TB.
I think before I reformatted the disk it showed as being 2TB in this menu, but I cannot be sure. I am worried that I have somehow formatted it wrong and lost some data space? If I go into Disk Utility, it does say there that the Data partition is 2TB, so it seems strange that Airport Utility shows it at 1.8TB. Can someone else who has the 2TB Time Capsule let me know whether in Airport Utility it shows as being 2TB or 1.8TB?
Disk Warrior reported a damaged resource header that cannot be repaired. The resource header is in an "older" file format (rsrc). I have been having fairly frequent freezes of the system and Disk Utility reporting a corrupted HD which Disk Unility is always able to repair and report the HD to be O.K. Could the damaged header be the cause of the freezes? If so, can anything be done about it if Warrior says it cannot be repaired?
Just got a new 1TB external network hard drive to try and solve my storage and sharing problems. It works no bother out of the box pre-formatted as MS-DOS, but due to the limit of this format and because I heavily use iMovie I want to use Mac OS Extended (journaled). When I try to do a quick erase I get the error message Quote:The underlying task reported failure on exitWill give it a full erase fix it? This will take 12-14 hours to do so want to know if I'm going down the right path before I waste a night.
Which version of Image Capture should be in Snow Leopard Mac OS-X 10.6.8 When my wife attempts to run Image Capture 3.0.3 on her system (her Imac cannot be upgraded to Lion unfortunately) is unable to run. The error message is: You cannot use this version of the application Image Capture with this version of Mac OS-X.
In order to install Windows 7 via bootcamp, do you have to use the full version of windows or can you use the upgrade disc to install? I figured I should ask before buying another license as I have an upgrade version of Windows 7 Pro that I don't use. I do own previous versions of Windows (all of them....just like I do Mac OS).
My son deleted the mail application. Tried to to re-install it from download version. Get error message: You have mail version 4.3 (1081/1084). Cannot be used with Mac O/S version 10.6.8. build 10K549.
I am a MAC starter and I am only knowing the basics upon Snow Leopard what is running with Intel CPU in newer Deskops. Now I have the challenge with a friends G5 to upgrade her MAC's operating system: currently it is 10.4.11. Are there any newer versions I can use?
I have uninstalled my mail from Mac OS X and now with the OS DVD (10.5.2)had reloaded the software, but it is not working as it says You cannot use this version of the application Mail with this version of Mac OS X.I am using 10.5.8 - Some one please help as Apple support has not yet responded in the last 4 working days.

after a lot of testing we have managed to clear everything around the topic of flashing stock PC X1900XT/512Mb (256Mb is NOT working!!) with MacPro EFI ROM. Thank you all guys at Strangedogs! It WORKS prefectlly! Ofcourse flashing card with MacPro EFI rom reenders card useless in regular PC, you have to flash it back with original bios to make it work in PC again. Has anyone tested this scenario? Since PC versions of the 3870 are cheaper than the PC+Mac version, I was wondering if I'd be able to crossfire the PC+Mac version, and a regular PC version. (Obviously I'd only be looking to run Crossfire on the Windows side.) Would this setup cause problems with either the OS X or Windows side? BTW, I've got the 2008 Mac Pro with 2 PCI-E x16 slots.
I just bought my wife a new Al MacBook and need to migrate her Treo 700p from her old Windows machine to the new Mac. I used to use Palm Desktop for Mac and know it is a little quirky and may have some issues with Leopard, so I'm trying to decide whether I should go down that path or just install Fusion and run the windows version in a VM. Anybody have any recommendations either way? She uses Palm Desktop only for syncing, so I don't need to worry about the Leopard iSync issues.
I have a Macbook Unibody 2.4 and an iMac Aluminum 2.8 C2E. I just wanted to play around with Windows 7, not cause any serious issues, and just, you know, try it out; not do any serious testing. For my purposes, do you think Im better off downloaded the 64-bit of 32-bit version? And which computer will handle windows 7 better?
I ordered Snow Leopard from Amazon for like $25 and then I found out that I qualified for an "Up-To-Date" version of the Snow Leopard that is like $9.95. Is there a difference between the two versions or are they the same thing. Because if they are the same thing I am just going to return the one that I got from
