May 17, 2012I need to free up room on my hard drive. I would like to delete all my .ipa apps. Can I do that? I have itunes match, and I also sync to icloud. I know when I want to reinstall an app I just do that through the cloud. I have deleted apps to test that this is ok but the apps end up getting reinstalled. Here is what I want to do:
1. delete all my .ipa files on my computer to save a lot of hard drive space (I have a lot of apps....)
2. stop syncing to my computer, and only sync to icloud
3. rely on itunes match for backing up music
4. have calendar and contacts sync through icloud
5. if I need to reinstall apps do that through the tab on the app store for 'purchases.'
OS X :: Can't Delete File From Trashcan
Feb 7, 2009I tried downloading a remix of a song but can't remember if I fully downloaded the song. Anyways, I ended up trashing it but it hasn't gone away from my trashcan for weeks now.
It's a weird looking file name with weird characters in it and this concerns me if this could be a virus or not
If I try to hit "get info" it disappears from the trashcan, only to come back if I enter the trashcan again.

Is there one?I know of PrefEdit, but that is only for .plist (preference) files, and leaves out cache files:

Feb 18, 2012I have the original WD 1.0tB hard drive that was replaced in my iMac27. It had some problems and would not boot; therefore, the mac folks replaced the drive. Unfortunately, there are a few files I did not backup on the old drive. To avoid getting into my iMac, could I slave this drive onto a PC to try retrieve the files, or will I need to slave it on my iMac? I have never opened my iMac (out of warranty with no extended), and am not sure I want to.

Mar 23, 2012So iPhone wacked out and stopped working saying I had to plug in to iTunes. Plugged in to a different itunes not on my imac and updated/restored iphone. I get the phone back to my computer and then itunes isnt up to date phone cant work with my imac g5 ppc. Only thing to do is purchase leopard os x 10.5 to bring itunes up to date. apple support i order a copy from amazon in the states because not available in Canada. The install disc completely crashes my imac(this being an apple certified product? excuse my language but ***!) Take the imac in to a certified mac shop and they install leopard but wipe everything else on my harddrive. NO SONGS, MOVIES, FILES, all of it lost! I fork out hundreds of dollars to upgrade and fix the problem yet Im still getting burned! IS any of my stuff anywhere to be retrieved? This is leading me to never purchase an apple product again!

May 13, 2012How would I go about backing-up the disk if the image doesn't appear under devices? I went to the "Restore" tab/button, but I can not choose the hard drive in the first field. I could have sworn my hard drive was formatted for Mac, but I may have formatted it back to FAT32. I know the disk still functions because when it is powered on, it cycles with/without being connected to my MacPro, but after that, it will only cycle if connected (confirming connection). It does run again when I connect the firewire cable.
