I haven't seen a response from Apple. When I go into iTunes it shows that my backup will be encrypted with a password. I have NEVER backed it up to iTunes, only to the cloud. When I try to disable the encrypt option it asks for a password that I have never set. Many others have said to try every password you've ever had for iTunes as well as your security code on your phone. Oh and why not "000" and "1234" while you are at it. None of these work. It isn't the end of the world for me because I still have the phone and it is backed up on the cloud, but what is the deal Apple? How can I get or set my password since I have never set it in the past?Â

I have a Macbook Pro Late 2008 Model and have both my Iphone and iPad synced to it.I intend to save all my data from the macbook to a Time Machine and then sell my macbook as I intend to buy a new one this July.
1) would I be able to retrieve all my settings and data from the Time Machine to my new Macbook.
2) Would my iPhone and iPad Sync with the new macbook or would I need to set up a new sync ? I am hoping once I am able to retrieve all my settings and data from Time Machine to the New Macbook both my iPhone and iPad would be able to sync without requiring the need for a new sync setup .

I set up a password protected file and I cannot remember the password. Is there anyway to retrieve the information safely locked away in this file without the password or is it lost forever?

I am running Mac OS X Tiger. A friend wants me to retrieve all of the data from an Address Book Backup sent her on a CD from abroad. Nothing I have done works!
The size of the Backup is 5.6MB.
I have created a new account for the purpose. With Address Book (AB) open, File > Revert to address book backup gave only 2 card entries, one being the User and the other the Apple Mac welcome card.
My wife deleted all my iphoto album and trash it thus all my album in facebook is gone. How can I retrieve back all those album that she had deleted and trash it? I do not have any backup for all those pic that I post in facebook.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMail has worked flawlessly for me for several years. But this week, it stopped loading (retrieving) my messages from my .mac/me/iCloud service. For some reason, my .mac account in Mail is offline. When I try to take it back online, mail tells me that my password isn't being accepted. (But it works just fine if I go to my iCloud account and use it to log on and check my mail there. And it's no prob retrieving my mail on my iPhone, either.)
(I have several other e-mail accounts set up in Mail, and they work just fine. Only my .mac/me/iCloud account stopped working.) I've tried to change various settings in the preferences for the account, but it's been to no avail. Some of the various error messages I've received after trying to fix the prob: And here are info panels I see when I check the account in Mail's preferences: Note how port 993 is greyed out here; it's not greyed out for my other email accounts (and it's the same port w/ those, too).

I connected my windows removable disk to my colleague's mac to transfer some data. Accidentally her system started a time machine backup on my removable disk. Although we stopped it during middle of the process, now my disk is no longer recognizable in windows and all I can see under a mac system is her backup file.
The process took a very short time. I wonder if it has deleted everything. Is there any chance I can get the overwritten data back? They are very important to me.
Besides, is it a common problem of time machine backup? It is too dangerous for the removable disks.
All our itunes songs are no longer on our hard disk thumbnails of photos there - but can't access them on main screen.I backed up a week before info ws lost using time machine backup. How do i retrieve these pics, songs etc?

I have a file I alter once about a week, each time I alter it I save it as a new one, with a date included in the name.So I have a series of files something like
xxxxx march 13.numbers
xxxxx march 07.numbers
xxxxx march 01.numbers
etc.
This morning when I updated and saved the march13 file I accidentally saved it as xxxxxx march 13, not xxxxxx march 20 which it should have been. No problem, go into time machine and retrieve the march 13 file I thought. Its not there. Its not there from just before the save to any time it should be there !
Luckily I was able to retrieve it as I also have a once a week online backup so I went into the last one of those and retrieved "xxxxxx march13" which proves it did exist, it has a creation date of march 17 but if I look at TM for march 18 its not there - why isn't it in my time machine backup?
All the other files in that folder are as expected so the only thing that makes any sense to me is that TM hasn't been backing up over the past week or so but TM error logger shows no errors.
How would I go about backing-up the disk if the image doesn't appear under devices? I went to the "Restore" tab/button, but I can not choose the hard drive in the first field. I could have sworn my hard drive was formatted for Mac, but I may have formatted it back to FAT32. I know the disk still functions because when it is powered on, it cycles with/without being connected to my MacPro, but after that, it will only cycle if connected (confirming connection). It does run again when I connect the firewire cable.
