Have just downloaded "The Beatles Yellow Submarine" Free book from iTunes (It has been waiting to download for ages) But, now it is downloaded and showing under Books I find it is impossible to open/view/enjoy the book. Is it not possible to view books on my MacBook Pro? and if the answer is no, then why was it offered to me via iTunes. I do not want to use books on my iPod touch which is 1st generation anyway or even my older iPod video. Surely it must be possible to open the book on my MacBook Pro (mid-2009).

I downloaded the free Ringtone maker in iTunes. It shows up under Apps in my iTunes page, but there is no option to open it. I've tried double-clicking but nothing happens. I have also tried right-clicking, but this only gives me the following options: Get info (just leads back to app description in app store), Show in Finder, Show in iTunes store, and Delete.

I have had some trouble lately when downloading DMG files with Safari. In the URL bar I could see it was downloading and then downloaded however nothing happend. Changed to open with DiskUtility didn't do anything. Firewall had no influence. When downloaded with Firefox there was NO problem and everything went fine like it use to do with Safari. So I suspect it is a bug in Safari since this happens with all DMG files of late.

I downloaded the Kindle for Mac software yesterday and purchased one book. It is showing up in my Archive section with a comment "Download failed, Try again." I have tried multiple times to download the book, but I keep getting error messages saying the book cannot be downloaded, try again. I went through their troubleshooting guide (which is very minimal) and nothing fixed it. I emailed Kindle C/S and they said it must be my firewall or anti-virus. I turned off the firewall, still didn't work. I don't run anti-virus software on my Mac. I've tried to call Kindle C/S since those weren't the problem, but haven't been able to get through yet.
I've tried it on three different wireless networks and one wired network - fails on all. My internet access is totally normal otherwise; everything else is working and downloadig just fine. I'm exasperated. Has anyone else had trouble with downloading something to Kindle for Mac? I'm beginning to think it's a problem with the title on their end.
And one is .rar.002 and the other is .rar.001 what do I do with these?

I'm downloading a series of video files. I click on each link and they start downloading. I might have several that are all downloading at once. While they download I go on to work on something else. However, when each file finishes downloading, the program I use to view the video opens and I have to take time to close it and go back to work.

If I download a torrent in firefox vuze automatically opens (because that's what I have set it to do under the application tab in preferences). But I'm using safari, as my primary browser, and I would like for safari to associate torrents with vuze/transmission in the same way.
When I download a torrent from, say, mininova the torrent is downloaded to my downloads folder and is visible in the safari download window (with the azureus icon) - but I manually have to open the torrent for vuze to start downloading. So the torrent is associated to vuze, but it doesn't automatically start downloading.
When I try to use Software Update it downloads the file but will not open, and shows me the error message, "Update can't be installed - Software Update could not expand the package correctly". This happened the first time a week ago and I thought was an isolated event, but it is happening again, so obviously there is a problem with Software Update. If I download it from Apple through Safari it works.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried to update the overdrive media app from my library. it downloaded a dmg file into my download folder. I could not open this file. I tried changing gatekeeper preferences, rightclicking the file and and opening it from that dialogue box, but all that happens is it starts to open and then nothing. No dialogue box, or message of any kind. this has happened with other app updates downloaded from outside the app store.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI guess it's a change with Snow Leopard, but now when I download a .nzb file and try to open it I get the warning message that it's 'an unknown application downloaded from the Internet' (which, of course, it is not) and I have to manually open that. A .nzb file is not an app, but an executable file (launches NZB Drop, for me). The fact is I don't think I've ever had the message fire and not want to open it. I'd prefer to just disable it all together.

Have downloaded an update file 'skype_5.6.0.143' for iMac. Have an icon for it in Finder but unable to proceed from there. Double clicking on this icon brings a warning box advising disk image could not be opened as not recognised. Can drag or copy/paste icon into Application folder with the same response.
