I just had to reinstall my OS from scratch. My iTunes library and files were stored on a different drive. How can I get the newly installed iTunes to see my previous libraries with all of my files and play lists?

I went to open my itunes and it said "itunes needs a library to open" then it would only let me choose a library that was dated to last july. I clicked on it and it opened my library from that date. I am really mad because it will now only open that library and im missing almost a thousand songs that have been downloaded since then. Why can i only open a previous library? Are all the songs, movies, and other settings that i have changed in the last 6 months gone?

After having weeks of airport issues, the Genius Bar folks decided that reinstalling my operating system was the only opin to fix what they think is a software issue. After restoring all my data using my last backup and doing all software updates again, I am getting an error when trying to open itunes - 'the file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes. Would you like to download itunes now?. The two oprions I am given are 'quit' and 'download itunes'. If I chose to download itunes it tells my there are no updates! I have also plugged my ipod into my laptop and it doesn't recognize it. What should I do?? I am totally lost. When I ran the updates last night it showed itunes updating, so I am unclear as to why it isn't even opening.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my itunes folder backed up from my iMac to my external HD. The whole "Music" folder was copied. I am trying to use that library on the external the main library since my iMac is gone. I have no music files on the Macbook (only had 20, deleted them), so I'm just trying to redirect iTunes to look at, and show the iTunes library in the iTunes music folder that I have backed up on the HD.
Ideally, I want it to copy over anything new I drag into it going forward so that everything's on the external. So I've read numerous articles on how to do what should be a simple task and it has proved anything but. I went into prefs. and changed the location of the iTunes library to the external folder of 'iTunes Music.' Then it pops up and says "do you want iTunes to rename the files in keeping with your "keep folders organized selection"? So I say yes, even though everything is already organized.
So it's not showing up yet, I restart iTunes, nothing. So I hit file, library, organize library. Then I hit consolidate files and "upgrade to itunes organization." Nothing. I restart iTunes, nothing. What is going on? I would like to be able to keep it updated on the external, and would like to do this with iPhoto as well. I know it's possible, but once again, it seems Apple is trying to make something that should be easy more difficult than it needs to be.

My iTunes player is getting on my nerves. For some reason, the Previous Button is always highlighted. So whenever I press the spacebar, it does not stop the player, but it rewinds the song to the beginning. How do I get this **** button to un-highlight so that the spacebar can actually do its job of stoping the music?

I just opened my ~/music/iTunes folder and in the iTunes folder there was a folder named 'previous iTunes Libraries' that folder existed of two iTunes Library Data files. My question now is can I just delete that folder or is it essential to have iTunes function properly?

I can't click in the next/previous buttons fast. I mean, if I click once (e.g. to skip a song) I can't click again until about 1 sec later. If I try to click again before 1 sec after the first click, it doesn't do anything at all, as if there's not even a button there. And no matter for how long I keep making several fast clicks, it just won't skip the song. I have to stop clicking, wait 1 sec, and THEN click. This happens either using the trackpad or a mouse. Quite annoying.
There's no problem though if I skip songs fast using the Next/Previous key in the keyboard.Â
I'm using a Macbook Air 2013, iTunes 11.2.2 (3).
after changing a number of computers i went to download my previous purchases onto my new laptop, however they now do not appear at all as in i have no purchase history, the same has now occured on my iphone but when checking my account details it shows payments made for purchases from a few days ago.

I have moved ALL my iTunes content (music, videos etc) to the Shared Music folder on my new WD MyBook World Edition 2 (just in case that's relevant info) and everytime my Mac attempts to load iTunes I have to repeatedly direct it to the library.xml file in the Shared Music folder.Surely there's a proper solution for this? Anyone else out there had this experience and has figured it out.I've noticed that it does this only the first time I open iTunes up, any subsequent bootup within a session is fine, but any restart of my Macbook Pro and I have to repeat this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm on an Apple MacBook (Intel core duo) and recently had to reinstall my version of Mac OS X 10.4.8 after unsuccessfully trying to download a software update of OS X (can't remember which version) via the Software Updates window which pops up. The software seemed to download fine but as soon as the computer restarted nothing happened. It just stayed on the grey screen at the beginning and the small circle icon popped up but it didn't load up the operating system.As a result I had to reinstall 10.4.8 via the CDs which came with the computer.It just so happened that while the attempt was made to reinstall the newer version of OS X a newer version of iTunes was successfully downloaded (V 8.1.1). However this does not now work with OS X 10.4.8 and comes up with the message 'You cannot use iTunes with this version of Mac OSX.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to reinstall itunes but do not want to lose my playlists. I keep my music on an external hard drive that is connect to my Airport router via USB. I can drag my music from the folder on the hard drive back into itunes but I dont want to have to go hunting for my songs again to fill my playlists. I have 50,000 songs and one playlist has 20,000 songs and the other has 4,600 and a few randon ones with 1,000 or so songs. What are my options? i am running the newest itunes with lion 10.7.3.

When I bring up iMovie in the app store It says "accept" on the icon that usually says "buy" or "install". When I click "accept" it says it has already been accepted and is available for download under purchases. My iTunes import setting is set to: import using mp3 encoder - high quality 160kbs.However, when I try to convert AAC audio file by choosing create mp3 version in iTunes 11.2.2 (3), I am getting MPEG Audio file conversation and not mp3.I tried AIFF, ALE MPEG & WAV conversation and they all work, except for mp3. I just updated my iTunes but it appears it deleted my library. This sucks because I have spent HOURS upon HOURS sorting it, renaming crooked song titles, finding covers and all that stuff. I used time machine to back up my computer like 5 days ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I wish I could just select that given day (when I made my last backup) and make it turn everything back to what it was back then.How do I do this exactly? I don't care at all if I have to go back to the old iTunes (obviously they will fix this eventually!) - I just want it to look like it did a few days ago.

When I go into 'Computer' in Windows, I can see my Macintosh HD drive and most of its contents, some pics and other folders etc are all viewable and draggable into Windows. What im thinking now is, can I setup iTunes or even Media Player to see my iTunes library on the Mac side without actually copying it to Windows?
Ive been searching for the Library whilst in Windows but cant find it.
