ITunes For Mac :: No Longer Add Movie Files But Add Music - Attempting To Copy To Disk X Failed

I am running OSX 10.9.3 on a 3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 12GB RAM, and itunes 11.2.2 (3) 64 Bit. My itunes library is large (approx 1 TB) and contains mostly ripped CDs, vinyl and ripped DVDs and BluRays. I usually add media using the File/Add to Library command. This set up has been reliable for a couple of years at least.
At time of writing itunes will still happily add music files, but is no longer happy to add movie files. I get a message telling me that the disk which contains my itunes library (I use a 2TB external HD) cannot be written to or read from. Clearly this isn't true as I can write music files to it.
I tried disk repair in the disk utility and it tells me the drive is healthy. I thought maybe there is a maximum itunes library size. As a check I tried starting a completely new itunes library on a different external drive and the problem persists.
I have >500GB spare space on the drive containing my itunes library. All my drives are formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) so should not suffer any file size limitation.

I have just purchased an IMac and when I sync my iphone I receive the following message Attempting to copy to the disk "Macintosh HD" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.
I have various user accounts setup and changed the permissions to the local hd to RW access for the users
this evening I rented the film "Once."After it finished downloading, I hit play, got the 24-hour notice, and continued, but then I got this nasty error:So, I'm not able to watch the movie. And not too happy about it.
I've got a problem with my MBP. It finally came back from repair centre today. My Harddrive was broken, so they put a new one inside. Everything worked OK, until I decided to install Snow Leopard, and after that put my superduper backup from my external HD to the MAC hd. I restarted the MAC while I kept holding down the "C" button, (snow leopard disk inside) I went to install OSx menu,-> Disk utility-> MAcintosh HD->last TAB (can't remember the name)-> and dragged the External HD in the first bar, and mac HD in the Second. Also I checked Remove Mac HD when copy the Backup to MAC HD. I pressed the button and the EST time was about 2 hours. After one hour my HD made some noise and gave me an error: Something with Failed to load or Failed to copy. After that it did removed my Macintosh HD drive. It's just Gone! I don't know what to do.. Can't install my mac it's completely useless right now.. Here are some pictures describing the situation:
I finally ripped my music into digital format. It is a very large library so I performed the rips in four segments creating four folders of music. The highest level folders are Music1, Music2, Music3, Music4. The next layer folder is the artists name, then album name, then the actual MP3S.
How do I merge the folders? If I perform a copy the first artist name is sees that already is exists, the finder wants me to skip the copy or replace the folder that is there. I simply want to add the folder or merge it. Is there a "merge" function in OSX? I tried Carbon Copy but it will not copy or sync fils on the same disk.
I have looked through previous posts about something called firmware causing problems with a (I am assuming) later version of the DVD writer but can't find anything specific to my one.
Basically my DVD will no longer burn phots or music to disk. I have tried different disks but with no luck , all I get is a message along the lines of the burner is not calibrated.
The computer is a iMac PowerPC G5 running OS X 10.4.11 and the firmware listed for the burner is FA0G.
Today I rented and downloaded a movie from the iTunes store. Got about 5 minutes into it and the playback froze.... I tried to fast forward... Nothing. Tried to rewind. Nothing. So I closed iTunes completely and reopened. Now when I try to play the rental, I just get a black screen. I don't want to waste $4.
I recently got an XBox 360 and wanted to stream music and movie files to my Xbox. Somebody pointed to Connect360, which works great: [URL]. Due to the fact that I only have 250 Gb on my iMac hard drive, I decided to keep my movie files on a 500 Gb external hard drive. With Connect360, I can't stream files from the hard drive. I tried creating aliases to both the folder and to individual files. The only files that will stream to my XBox are files residing on the iMac hard drive.
1) Folder aliases are not detected by the XBox. 2) File aliases are detected by the XBox but will not play. The error message is something along the lines of an unsupported media format (I'm not at home right now), despite the fact that a copy of the exact same file will play if it's on the iMac.
Would creating the symlink in a Unix command prompt make any difference?
I bought some video and audio from itunes and would like to put them to my portable player,but I am failure, whether they have protection or format require?---- how can I convert or transfer those files?
I'm trying to copy some music files from my mac pro hard drive to a ReadyNAS, which is using AFP file protocol. I can copy the files one at a time, but if I try to copy many of them at once I get the error code -50 message.
I'm using a 2GHz PowerPC G5, OS X 10.4.11, with 1 GB on one dimm. I cannot open ANY .dmg files. I have tried clicking the image, and also on a clean download used "open with" each time I received the following message The following disk image failed to mount Reason: Device not configured
I have followed the instructions in this thread:- Disk image failed to mount: Device not configured. Firstly Run /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. Click on "Macintosh HD" in the left column and then press the "Repair Disk Permissions" button. Delete the file called /System/Library/Extension.kextcache Delete the folder called /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernalcaches/ Restart
That made no difference. I then tried bobw's advice here Panther - Disk Image "mounting Failed" Panther - Disk Image "mounting Failed". That made no difference. I have since gone on to justanswer.com and the advice I received was to do an archive and install and then a full combo update.

iTunes is automatically putting my music videos inside of the movies library and I would prefer to have it in my music library. I've tried a few things with no luck. Does anyone know how to do this?
This happens frequently lately: "Latest backup failed. Files couldn't be copied on backup-disk because it seems to be Read Only. After I "verify" the disk in Disk Utility, it works for a while, then the same problem. What can I do?
I handbrake'd a new music video dvd that I bought yesterday at a concert, and I can rip them fine using the ATV preset. But when i rip them it goes to the movie section in itunes instead of the music folder I told them to go to. Anyway I can get ripped music videos to go into the music section?

This has happened twice to me. Each time I've gone from an iPhone to a different OS phone, either ALL my music disappears from my MacBook or (as most recently) a portion has deleted..... And if I try to rebuy the songs, it says I already have them? but they aren't there....I respect iPhones, but I enjoy the phone I have now and don't plan on going back to an iPhone any time soon.
I have transferred my itunes music on to my external HD. The music is there and that is fine. I then deleted the old itunes folder from my actual HD. I have now wanted to access the music on the external HD, and have attempted to select the new music file location on the external HD via the itunes/preferences/advanced window,selected the new file path and it will just not show in itunes!
