View 13 RepliesI'm sure I'm in the wrong forum, I have a very sentimental voicemail from my nephew that will be erased tonight at midnight. I need to know if there is an easy way to record the voicemail on to the computer using the microphone or a relatively easy way to download it. I do not have an iPhone. I have a plain old Samsung.

I have the latest version of OS X Lion 10.7.4. I uninstalled the Lexmark printer driver and re downloaded the driver under Apple downloads. I used the wizard to successfully initialize it. When I look under system preferences/hardware/print & scan it says no printers available. What else do I need to do to add the printer?

I recently purchased my Macbook and I noticed that the battery power is jumping at least an hour every time I check how much battery power it has left. I wanted to know if this was normal.

My nephew once told me he puts his PC off when he goes to school for example, because it would be better for his pc.
Does this count for...
- My PowerBook, running on cable (not battery, whatever)?
- My (to buy) 24'' iMac?
Reason is I sometimes want to leave my stuff on to upload or download stuff...
my old g5 1.6ghz bit the dust and I was finally able to upgrade. The only stuff I really want to save is the itunes music I have on there. The question is, how do I get it over? The g5 is running 10.2.8. Feasibly couldn't I just transfer all the music onto a flash drive and put it on the imac that way? Oh one more things, I don't have a monitor for the g5 tower... could I use the imacs screen for my g5? And yeah how would I do that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly new iMac (mid-2008 20" model) with a 2.4ghz Intel processor. I am a web designer and use this machine every day for my work. Several months after installing Adobe Creative Suite 3, I noticed that Photoshop was causing the cursor to jump and/or become jerky, as if the video card or processor were not keeping up with what's going on. This tends to happen after the computer's been in use for several hours or days after a restart. I have been following this in Leopard's Activity Monitor, and I noticed that Photoshop (being memory- and processor- hungry) taxes the processor more heavily than many other programs, which I expected. The strange thing, though, is that over time the Activity Monitor shows the "System" as taking up more and more processor capacity. I.E. when I first start up, the system is using 0-20% of the processor, the rest being available for the user; but after awhile, the system is requiring 50-90% of processor capacity, the result being that as soon as I switch into Photoshop from another program, the system is immediately overtaxed and starts moving very slowly (especially the cursor, as I said).
Now, here's the really strange part. As I said, this began happening a few months after I first installed Adobe CS3. I re-installed the software at Adobe's recommendation, and it was fine for another few months, but it began happening a few days ago, which is exactly the same time I shared a jump drive with a friend's worm-infected Windows XP machine. I know Macs don't get Windows worms, but is it possible that this thing has lodged itself on my system somehow and is causing it to run generally more slowly?
I accidentally deleted my old account on my Mac without transferring stuff to my new account and now I had to replace the main apps with crappy cover versions and I got the computer used without the reset disc what should I do. I messed up cant get my apps back because don't have reset disc.

I just noticed that I cant bring up my music/tvshows/movies from my itunes library (from my mac) on my ipad. I checked all the home sharing setting on the mac and on the ipad, restarted everything, to no avail! My apple tv works fine! I recently updated my OS on the iMac to 10.7.4, would this cause the issue? I am running 5.1.1 on the ipad.

My iMac has been running very very slowly for about 2 weeks. I am talking very very slowly. It seems to be processing time. I will be in word, move the cursor and it will take a few seconds to get there. Sometimes I have to wait a minute after I click on something for the cursor to catch up, and (hate to say it) even 2 minutes. That's like a millennium in Mac time.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've gone through two brand new 21.5" iMacs now, both with bad yellow tinge, unacceptable for the video and graphics stuff I need to do with it (and of course, for any new premium-priced computer...but Apple is still willing to sell them and hope we don't notice?). I finally got a refund, and while I don't want to defect to PCs (it would be a pain considering I work off of a MBP, too) - I was wondering if the 24" iMacs are a safer bet. Mac Connection is selling an awfully attractive one. After unboxing two lemons, I'm a little gun-shy.

They mention Kernel Panics.(Also, been getting Kernel Panics randomly popping up when I start up at the desktop. View 10 Replies View RelatedI rarely shut down my PCs, is it okay to leave the Macbook Pro on 24/7? It's a notebook and heat might be a concern especially the fact that notebooks were never meant to run 24/7. Then again, my MBP never gets very hot.
BTW, where is the intake/exhaust vents located on the MBP unibody?
which is better & less stressful on the computer? powering it up & leaving it on all day? I work on it for 1-3 hrs at a time, & then take a break & do other stuff & come back, it is more convenient to have it on all ready. Or is it better to be powered down?

I was wondering if it was safe to leave my macbook on while i sleep to download big things that can take up to a few hours to download?
Should I leave it hooked to a power supply or running off it's own battery?
While i'm at it: Is it safe to leave my macbook on the power supply anytime im at home, or does that kill the battery faster?

View 10 Replies View RelatedJust to let everybody know, I found a pretty straightforward way to do this without having to mess with every single app's preferences. I have a 13 mbp and I replaced the HDD with an intel SSD. The original HDD went into the optibay instead of the superdrive. At first I just moved my whole home folder to the HDD, so that iTunes, iPhoto and everything else would have worked on there not filling up the SSD with unnecessary stuff. But then I felt like my HDD was spinning most of the time and I read that, as I thought, it is better to leave the ~/Library folder on the SSD to avoid this, since every running app basically reads and writes to this folder all the time. So here's what I did:
1) I moved the home folder back to the SSD, copying my ~/Library folder from the HDD in there (this is its default location so you don't have to do anything if you never changed it.
I think the title pretty much explains it all. I'm wondering if there's any harm that would come from leaving the power adapter plugged in all the time, but without the MacBook connected some of the time. I'm a college student, and with the way I have my desk set up, I can't really take the power adapter with me everywhere I go. So yeah, I was wondering if there was any harm that would come from it.
