View 2 RepliesI'm new to Mac and working on my existing powerpoint lectures that were originally created in Word on a PC. Recently, my hyperlinks make the linked text invisible--this is true on both my Mac desktop and my Macbook Pro. Both already existing hyperlinks and any new links I create disappear from the screen, though they can be clicked on and still function as links. I have tried changing the font color and the background color, but no luck. The text disappears whether I simply past in the link to a slide or add it as a hyperlink to text. I'm running Mac OS 10.5.6 and Office 2004.

I printed a powerpoint presentation about a month ago and I'm trying to delete the file. When I try to empty my trash it says that "its still in use". I've tried restarting my mac already but no luck? How do I get rid of this file?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wondered if anyone knows of any free powerpoint viewers? I don't use powerpoint normally and don't really want to buy MS office but some friends sometimes send me jokes or pics set up as powerpoint presentations and I'd like to able to view them at home.
I know there was a version from MS for OS9 but again, I'm running Tiger and don't have os9 in order to run it in classic mode.
How do I delete text. Let's say I wrote the wrong word, as you know a Windows keyboard has "Delete" and "Backspace" keys, but a MacBook keyboard only has a "Delete" key which acts like the "Backspace" key. So in order for me to delete on work I have to go behind the text and use it like backspace.. how do I just delete the word from the front?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 2.7 Ghz i5 and recently installed Mavericks 10.9.3. I did not realise that it has a bug that stops my Powerpoint working. It opens some of a presentation and has blank slides. It crashes when I try and play.
I would not have downloaded Mavericks if I knew this. I bought Office and I need Powerpoint - I don't want to use open source or other programmes.
How can I get it to work or how do I uninstall Mavericks and return to a good working operating system.

I use PowerPoint for work, and I sometimes receive password-protected files that my iMac (OS X, 10.5.8, PowerPoint for mac: 2008) cannot open.
If I want to open and work on such files, do I have any options besides running Windows?
If I run Windows, should I use XP or Vista? I do not have any use for Windows except getting to those password-protected PowerPoint files.
I have made a powerpoint presentation for a class. The task was to record ourselves speaking and import the audio files to go along with a slideshow presentation. I recorded in GarageBand and imported the files to iTunes and then into my presentation. The slideshow works on my computer, but once I try to play it on any other computer (both Mac and PC) the audio files are "unavailable" and don't play. What do I need to do so that the files can play?

I need to give my boss a reason as to why when he uses universal access zoom text on our website becomes blurry ( he did this by mistake). If I don't give him a good enough reason I will have to "fix" the problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn Safari (4.0.4), if you are in the middle of a website that covers several pages and you enlarge the font, the text you are reading can shift off-screen.
If you do this in Firefox (3.5.7), the text that you are reading remains where it is.
The Firefox behaviour makes sense.
I am looking for an Application that I can type and send instant text messages to my friend who has a PC, and he can then send back a text reply message , but if possible not MSN / Yahoo Etc, does any one know of a simple instant Text messaging application we both could use , we don't need voice or video just the ability to send and receive instant text messages to each other .

So I make a presentation on Mac Office powerpoint, everything is fine. I open it up at university on the PC, all is fine. I maybe change some text on a slide and save it again. Open the same file again on my Mac, and it won't open some silly error comes up saying trouble accessing file from mac HD.
Then luckily I have keynote, so I just open it in that and use that.
Point is why does this happen?? Whilst keynote is better, sometimes I have to edit things on a PC at work or uni and then it becomes a giant mess on my mac.
Is there a quick fix, or will I have to throw Mac Office into my growing pile of Microsoft related garbage.
In powerpoint mac 2008, how do i apply a theme to a single slide without it changing other slides' themes in the powerpoint?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI am in search for a lightweight, TextEdit-like app that has the handy floating text insert feature. Freeware would be the greatest, but i dont mind paying a modest shareware fee. I have and use Appleworks still, which has the handy feature by Option-Clicking anywhere you want the floating text, but am looking for something a little more future proof.
I downloaded Bean and iText Express, but I could not find that sweet feature in those apps.
I dual boot my iMac using Boot Camp and I'm having problems deleting a bunch of files in my Trash. A short history. I purchased a OWC external hard drive case and I've been going through my old hard drives which originally were used in my Windows XP computer. The drives were contaminated with Windows viruses and so I installed the drives one by one in the OWC case and proceeded to delete files and programs which I didn't need in each drive while in OS X and keeping the files I wanted to save in each respective drive. Now what I'm faced with is a Trash bin filled with Windows XP software (including Windows XP itself) which I cannot delete because OS X says I don't have permission to delete those files.

View 9 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of a good, free/cheap application that will search my entire HardDrive and notify me of possible duplicates?

I tried googling it, but the only result (fn+backspace), didn't work.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm using a Danish keyboard.
I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.7 i am working on Word 2008 for Mac, version 12.0.1 (080305).
My problem, i created one text box in a document, somehow 2 more appeared. I made the mistake of thinking that to delete the extra text boxes, i simply highlight them and delete them. Silly stupid me, nothing that simple exists and i have wasted an hour trying to figure it out. The help button does squat, barely gives you any info on a text box much less trying to delete it. Does anyone know how to delete a text box in a word document?
Can I gat TEXT ME for my iMac?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to apple, just purchased an iMac off craigslist, and have a personalization question. I was able to change the user name and all that info just fine but when my computer first turns on and I am prompted to log in the previous owner has a text below the apple icon that I would like to change. Right now it says "Daves ********** iMac" well my name is not Dave and I don't care to have that on there every time i go to log in. I have done a lot of searching and found where I can "change login text" but that is for one of the texts, not the one I am trying to figure out.. here is a sample picture, the text I have circled in red is the text I am trying to change, the text saying macbook pro is the only text I have successfully changed. (This is just a picture I got off the inter-web, not my actual login)
View 16 Replies View RelatedI forgot my admin password on my iMac recently and so i used the reboot with OS X snow leopard install disc to reset the keychain, but now on my login screen, it used to be just my account name, there is one called "Other" so i went into accounts in system preferences and tried to delete it but it isnt there?is really annoying me p.s. the "other account" isnt actually an account it says "Other" and when you click on it asks for your username and password...so i type in the admin accounts name and password (admin account is the only one on this computer), and it just opens up my admin account.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a 24" iMac. This is my first Apple machine. How do I make the text fonts look bigger while still retaining the 1920x1200 resolution?
View 8 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone feel like the default text size in all applications is too small when your imac is set at it's best resolution?? I really hate to compromise some of the display quality by decreasing the resolution, but everything seems so small!!! I really hoped on a nice big screen i could look at things larger than I could on my laptop!! Is there anything I can do about this? I am new to Mac, so maybe I am just missing something.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNew to Imac and love it so far. My only issue is that when I open firefox, the text is tiny and I can't seem to modify it. I've played around with fonts under preferences>content but that doesn't help. So far I have to manually hit commant and the + sign to get the text bigger.
