I placed a Hoyle card game disc into my Mac Mini and it does not seem to be reading the disc and now I do not know how to get the disc to eject. Before I just had to click on the eject icon at the top of the screen but it only says super drive in light grey. How do I get a disc to eject?

View 24 Replies View RelatedMy Superdrive was making a funny noise, so I quickly ejected my game disc so It wouldn't ruin it. A few minutes later, I had to burn a DVD, so I put in a blank DVD, and tried to burn my iDVD project to it. iDVD kept telling me to put a disc in. I hit eject, and nothing happened. I went to my desktop, and noticed that "Blank DVD" was not present. So, I have a disc stuck in my MBP, and my Mac doesn't think there is a disc in there, so eject doesn't work. What do I do? Should I just bring it in the Apple Store?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHere's what happened. I bumped my Mini fairly hard, and the audio immediately cut out. I was watching some streaming video at the time, and the video kept playing. I tried to restart. Beach ball. I turned the comp off and back on. Folder with question mark. After messing around with that for a bit, I tried putting my 10.6 DVD in and starting from that. It didn't work, but that doesn't matter since that problem fixed itself after a few restarts. The problem is that the DVD is now stuck in the drive and the Mini doesn't recognize the drive any more. The drive momentarily spins up at startup, but that's it. If I have to take it apart to get the disc out, that's fine. I have the tools and have done it before when I upgraded the RAM. I just want to avoid that if possible.

When I try inserting blank (brand-new) CD+ or CD- and DVD+ or DVD- discs, the slot-drive seems to accept the disc just fine. But then. I hear 2 short "whirrs", nothing for about 10 seconds, 2 short "whirrs", nothing for about 10 seconds, 2 short "whirrs", then the disc is ejected.I have experimented w/different discs & get the same results each time: drive accepts the disc for about 30 seconds, never mounts it on desktop, then ejects it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI copied a folder of photographs to my desktop from a disc. Now when I try to eject the disc I get a message that this can't be done because one or more programmes may be using it. I've also tried dragging the icon to trash but that fails as well.
What programme could be using the disc and am reluctant to force eject the disc at the moment as there is also a message that doing so could damage the contents and the disc belongs to my daughter and contains professionally shot images of my granddaughter.

Ive tried everything from the click the mouse button during restart to terminal and my imac can not eject the disc. it keeps making the sound of pushing out but nothing comes out. is there any way i cant pull it out with tweezer or will that hurt it?

Got a new 27" iMac recently and am trying to set up Boot Camp. I partitioned the HD and then installed Windows XP. The installation went smoothly, and then the computer restarted. Only problem is the Windows XP system disc is still in the CD drive. Now the computer wants to boot from the CD and can't. I get a message that says, "Press any key to boot from CD. Disk error Press any key to restart", and I have no way to eject the disc. (There is no pin hole next to the CD slot that I can put a paperclip in to force it out.) I've tried restarting and then hitting Command + Option + O + F (found that advice at Apple's site). No joy. Apple support is closed for about the next three hours

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a mac pro about 4 months ago and I love it, I have never had a problem with it until today, I went to install a new program on it and it did not even read it, it made a hi pitched sound for a short time then stopped, waited about 10 seconds did the same thing. After a couple times of doing this it would eject the disc, so I figured I would try another disc, I have tried many different discs such as games, cds, programs and nothing has worked.

I am trying to re-install my HP desk jet software but when I put the disc in, it doesn't pop up on the desktop and I can't find it in Finder. There's nothing in Devices. I've looked at all the settings and cannot understand why it's so difficult to run the disc. Just recently my Mac Pro has started to give me trouble reading DVDs. The DVDs are fine as they read perfectly on my MacBook, but on the Mac Pro, they just spin up a bit in there and never load. Every once in a while, a DVD will load just fine, but for the most part I can't get DVDs to play. I think I've noticed a pattern. CDs and single-layer DVDs load without a problem. It's the newer Dual-layer DVDs that just sit in there and fail to load. I remember hearing about a similar issue in Nintendo Wiis and that it was because the drive was probably dirty. Any tips on how to clean the drives and test that out?

Else, VLC could be great but I'm really not sure. For the info, I'll probably buy the LG internal drive (ggc-h20L). I'm been informed by LG, it can read movie commercial disc. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Panasonic DMR-EZ47V recorder and I've converted some of my VHS to DVD+R. They were finalized and are able to play back on the Panasonic machine, but when I put them in my laptop it tells me I have inserted a blank disc. About a year ago the same discs played on my computer just fine, so I don't know what has happened since then. They also play on my Sony Blu-ray player, so I know it's not just the disc or the player. What has happened that now my Macbook is showing the DVDs as blank and what can I do??

OK so I bought the computer for 650 from my friend and soon after buying found a problem. The problem was the optical drive not reading all the disc that I put in the system. So I took the macbook pro to apple they installed a new super drive. I get home today and try to install snow leopard and have a issue. The way I went about was starting up holding the option button and waiting to boot from the disc for a fresh install. First time I tried I got a symbol that look like the restricted sign you see when you cant smoke in a area ect... So I restart and try again this time I get to the install screen click does the estimation ect.. 34 minutes than goes to 28 minutes pretty much has frozen there now, and after waiting all this time about 20 minutes I get the spinning beach ball. Also forgot to say that the super drive is now super dooper annoying loud and make odd sounds too with vibration. So I guess make another apple gen bar apt? And have them possible replace the super drive again?
When i put in my Leopard install disc and hold the option key to boot from the disc, my macbook pro spits the disc back out. It will not load it. So i took my Tiger install disc and booted it and completely erased and repaired my HD. But still my macbook will not boot to the Leopard disc upon startup. It simply trys to load it, then sends it back out.

I think my superdrive died in my dual-core PM G5. This is what it's doing: I'll insert a DVD and it'll sit for a few seconds, then eject it. It DOES show up in my system profiler though. Is it dead, or is this a software problem? Oh- I should mention that the last thing I did was use Visual Hub to burn an AVI to a DVD. That worked fine. Afterward- nothing. I'm running OS 10.4.9. Help!

I just got a new CD-ROM to help me learn sign language. I put in the first CD and to access certain material I have to insert another CD. I can't eject the first one when the window is up on the screen. When I do eject it the window closes and the second disc doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated. There HAS to be a way to override this. I just want to be able to eject the first disc without having to quit everything.
