MacBook Pro :: Disc Stuck - Eject Doesn't Work
Jan 4, 2010My Superdrive was making a funny noise, so I quickly ejected my game disc so It wouldn't ruin it. A few minutes later, I had to burn a DVD, so I put in a blank DVD, and tried to burn my iDVD project to it. iDVD kept telling me to put a disc in. I hit eject, and nothing happened. I went to my desktop, and noticed that "Blank DVD" was not present. So, I have a disc stuck in my MBP, and my Mac doesn't think there is a disc in there, so eject doesn't work. What do I do? Should I just bring it in the Apple Store?

Nov 8, 2010Here's what happened. I bumped my Mini fairly hard, and the audio immediately cut out. I was watching some streaming video at the time, and the video kept playing. I tried to restart. Beach ball. I turned the comp off and back on. Folder with question mark. After messing around with that for a bit, I tried putting my 10.6 DVD in and starting from that. It didn't work, but that doesn't matter since that problem fixed itself after a few restarts. The problem is that the DVD is now stuck in the drive and the Mini doesn't recognize the drive any more. The drive momentarily spins up at startup, but that's it. If I have to take it apart to get the disc out, that's fine. I have the tools and have done it before when I upgraded the RAM. I just want to avoid that if possible.

Nov 3, 2010so when I try to use remote disc, on top of taking like 5 minutes to connect, when I try to open the audio CD in my PC laptop's disc drive, it doesn't work. And I know how to boot windows and everything from experience with my macbook, but my problem is basically this; When I try to install multi-disc games on the windows OS, whenever I get to the point where I am supposed to "insert disc 2" the eject button on my keyboard will not work, is there any workaround for this, I am running XP... (and leopard on my iMac).

Nov 11, 2009I've got a PowerPC G5 running 10.4. After four years of dedicated service, my Superdrive gave out, so I bought a Sony drive (SONY DVD RW DRU-842A in profiler) to replace it. Here's the trouble:
Any time the machine goes to sleep with a disc in the drive, it won't eject when I wake it up. I have to restart, then eject. Other than that, the drive works beautifully. If this question has been answered elsewhere, please redirect me there, sorry for the repost.
Speaking of sleep, when I put the machine to sleep through the menu it goes fully to sleep (no fan/other noise). But when it goes to sleep on its own, I can still hear the machine churning away. Any ideas? My roomate has a newer Mac Pro that doesn't do this.
OS X :: How To Boot Up From Disc - Pressing C While Starting Up Doesn't Work
Jan 14, 2011I was trying to boot up from my Snow Leopard disc last night to run Disk Utility (to repair my hard drive). I pressed C while starting up but it took me right to my login screen. I did this several times, no luck. I'm using a 15" MBP btw.
I also tried the same thing on my sister's MacBook (using her own install disc) -- same thing, straight to login screen.
I know pressing C used to work before because the MacBook used to belong to me and I did an erase & install before passing it down to my sister.

Aug 29, 2009I have a 2007 Intel MBP, running Leopard. I purchased the family version of Snow Leopard. When I tried to install it, it just spins the disc for a minute, makes the noise like it's trying to read it and then spits it out. All other discs work fine with my MBP so I know it is not the disc drive itself. I have all software "up to date." My brother installed SL on both of his MBs, one newer than mine and one older, just fine (with the same disc). I haven't seen anything out there with this issue so I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone knows how to resolve this issue (beyond taking it back to Apple and exchanging).

Mar 30, 2010I just got a new CD-ROM to help me learn sign language. I put in the first CD and to access certain material I have to insert another CD. I can't eject the first one when the window is up on the screen. When I do eject it the window closes and the second disc doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated. There HAS to be a way to override this. I just want to be able to eject the first disc without having to quit everything.

MacBook Pro :: Unreadable Disc Won't Eject?
May 12, 2012Really annoyed with the fact that this disc is proving difficult to eject. The laptop is not reading the dvd, therefore the usuall methods of ejecting a disc hasn't worked, e.g. pressing the eject button and moving the disc icon to the trash. I have tried the disk utilty application as well, still, the laptop does not recognise that there is a disc inserted!
I have tried other methods that I have read including reebooting and holding the trackpad, repeating that process with a credit card and also that didn't work. The laptop does make an effort to eject the dvd, as the ussual nioses are made, although the sound made don't sound too good. I also tried the terminal programme which resulted in the same noises but the dvd still remains stuck.
One thing I havent tried is to take it to a store or specialist but I would like to try remove it myself first as going to a store is a hassle!!! is there any other way that i havent tried

Apr 28, 2009I am trying to burn a DVD of files I want to back up from my computer, and it gives me this error when I try to burn a DVD from the folder that my files are in. Finder gives no mention that there is a DVD in the DVD-drive, but it does pop-up with a message recognizing that a DVD was inserted initially. My drive has been working fine in the past, so this is something that has just recently happened to my computer. Does anyone have any ideas about this? My computer specifications are in my signature below and I'm running leopard 10.5.6.
The specific error message that I get is this "the disc could not be used because the disc drive is not supported." I did a google of this, but the results turned up stuff relating to 10.3 and 10.4, neither of which being relevant to my situation
