View 1 RepliesI recently obtained a Mini which I've connected to my TV for watching movies/etc. I don't have a keyboard or mouse on the Mini.I ripped a disc the other night (via a remote connection) and realized that I don't know how to eject the disc from the Mini without a keyboard, mouse, or remote connection from my MBP. I suppose there is probably some way to script MTR and then execute a disktool afterwards but what if I'm just watching a disc and want to eject it?

finder and command E. No luck. We can't seem to find a tiny little hole to manually eject.
I inserted a blank disk earlier today. Automatically a hazard icon appeared where the eject icon should be. Now the disk wont come out and there is no obvious way to remove it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHere's what happened. I bumped my Mini fairly hard, and the audio immediately cut out. I was watching some streaming video at the time, and the video kept playing. I tried to restart. Beach ball. I turned the comp off and back on. Folder with question mark. After messing around with that for a bit, I tried putting my 10.6 DVD in and starting from that. It didn't work, but that doesn't matter since that problem fixed itself after a few restarts. The problem is that the DVD is now stuck in the drive and the Mini doesn't recognize the drive any more. The drive momentarily spins up at startup, but that's it. If I have to take it apart to get the disc out, that's fine. I have the tools and have done it before when I upgraded the RAM. I just want to avoid that if possible.

I just got a new CD-ROM to help me learn sign language. I put in the first CD and to access certain material I have to insert another CD. I can't eject the first one when the window is up on the screen. When I do eject it the window closes and the second disc doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated. There HAS to be a way to override this. I just want to be able to eject the first disc without having to quit everything.

Is there a way to "Force eject" or some equivalent? Odd thing is that when I open iDVD it says that my computer is not equipped with a superdrive. So it sounds as though my drive is not working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy G4 tower has needed occasional disc utility repairs but this time there's something strange. The disc won't mount, instead after the normal time for the disc to mount, the disc is ejected. I've restarted the computer while the disc was being read, and held down the "c" key, and the computer ends up with a question mark folder flashing on the screen. I can put the disc into my G4 laptop and read it fine. It also looks to have no marks or scratches. The G4 tower can read other discs including the OS9 install and repair disc. There is OS9 installed in the tower and not on the laptop.

Really annoyed with the fact that this disc is proving difficult to eject. The laptop is not reading the dvd, therefore the usuall methods of ejecting a disc hasn't worked, e.g. pressing the eject button and moving the disc icon to the trash. I have tried the disk utilty application as well, still, the laptop does not recognise that there is a disc inserted!
I have tried other methods that I have read including reebooting and holding the trackpad, repeating that process with a credit card and also that didn't work. The laptop does make an effort to eject the dvd, as the ussual nioses are made, although the sound made don't sound too good. I also tried the terminal programme which resulted in the same noises but the dvd still remains stuck.
One thing I havent tried is to take it to a store or specialist but I would like to try remove it myself first as going to a store is a hassle!!! is there any other way that i havent tried

I have problems with the CD player. It does not work. It does not eject the disc. The system does not see the CD player as it does not exist. On my IMac I have installed the program Parallels desktop 7 with Mac programs than even Windows 7. Even under windows I can not see the CD / DVD. What can I do. To remove the CD every time I have to restart the machine.

I have an iBook G4 933 and recently inserted a DVD that I was going to put on my ipod. It opened DVD but I quit cuz I was going to Handbrake it later. I got sidetracked and never did anything with the movie. I eventually shut down my computer and noticed the next day there was a disc in my computer but not on the desktop. I continousley clicked eject with nothing happening. I restarted my computer a few times trying holding "c" or ejct with no success so does anyone know how I can get the disc out.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI got the kernel panc recently and I rebooted and it went away for a few days. so yesterday I put a few modest mouse CDs on my iTunes and on the second to last I e I accidently pulled it out at an angle making the cd bend(not sure if this is relevant) and I put in tv next one, and after downlaoding it, it wouldn't eject. it would b remved from my desk top and iTunes list but wouldn't comeout. it would make the noises as if it would. so then I got the kernel panic again and I rebooted and it would make the noise and go to the white screen and tv man the noise again and then restart again and again and again. each time it would try to eject but it won't. it'll spin the disc the try to eject and I'll hear a few soft clicks or taps afterwords. I tryed logging on in safe boot and that worked for about 10 minutes but then got the kernel panic. no I can't log in any way. this is a pretty new iMac and I did nothing to harm it!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 2009 imac and I just upgraded to snow lepoardmy dad put in some disc for something and now it won't eject it will mount and from looking at the files its a windows disc because its all .exe files when I eject it from finder the disc image will disappear but it doesn't come out or even make a sound in disk utility the eject option is faded out I've tried restarting and pressing the mouse, eject button, and f12 but none work the drive is always quiet except when its booting it makes a sound like its taking a disc otherwise its completely silent I know that there is no way to manually eject so I'm going to apple on the weekend My question is whether this is a drive problem or a software problem because of snow lepoard(which would seem silly because snow lepoard suppose to be better at ejecting)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried installing Snow Leopard on my Late 2007 MBP with the installation disk I got with my 2009 MBP but I figured out that it wouldn't work because the installation disc would only work on the new machine not the old one. Anyway, now when I boot, I get the usual installation guide but the disk won't eject. I went to Disk Utility-->Eject Disk but it gave me a warning message that it couldn't be ejected because some applications were being used. I have no idea what that means and why it wouldn't eject the disc!
