IMac :: Create Left Backspace Key On Wireless?
Jan 27, 2010
Is there ANY possible way to create a left-backspace key on the wireless keyboard, like a macro or something? I am going crazy without it, and of course, the only solution I see is to buy the wired standard keyboard with the numeric keypad, which contains a left-backspace (left-delete) key.

I have a friend that has an iMac (I have a Mac Pro so no Airport) and I couldn't get it to create a wireless network (he just got an iPad). When I turn Airpot on it see other wireless networks and will even join them so it's working. However when I try to create one it just says something like "Unable to create Wireless Network" and gives no reason or code as to why. I've tried with/without Password and auto/manual on different channels with the same (non) results. He has just passed phone support time and don't want to spend $49.95 for phone support (you can buy a wireless accesses point cheaper). Being a 24" it's a lot of trouble to lug to the Apple store also.

Clicking with the left and right mouse buttons doesn't seem to be working properly. I first realised this when a message box warning me of low disk space popped up and I couldn't click on OK. Scrolling with the ball works, as does clicking with it. I restarted my iMac and removed the batteries from the mouse for a minute, but all that happened was that left and right clicks started acting like middle clicks. A wired mighty mouse works fine. I've tried cleaning it by turning it upside down and rubbing the ball on paper and a clean damp cloth, no change.

I've got another thing I wish to figure out. I wish to have my iMac and my mate's Asus eeePC netbook to both connect with one another in a network.
The whole main reason I wish is to share my iTunes music library. So he gets to be able to play the music.
Could I get a few links how to set it up for sharing folders, and for sharing music through iTunes.

Quick question for the AEBS pros out there.
I have a large multi-dwelling building that I have two 50 meg connections to. I have purchased two AEBS's (one for each side of the house) and I'm considering adding a third one for the upstairs. Currently, I just have them both creating a network for each of my 50 meg connections.
Would it be better for me to "expand" the network instead and just have one large network? Would it utilize the bandwidth of both of my connections or just continue to split up the one that I have it connected to that is "Creating" the network.
Also - any creative ways to mount the AEBS? Would it be too hot to put them in the attic?
Last question - has anyone found a way to somewhat regulate the bandwidth distribution? I will have about 45 people splitting the total bandwidth and I want to be sure that it can service everyone without certain people hogging it.

I begin uni next month and have been offered accommodation. My room won't have WiFi but will have a wired connection. I'm wondering, is it possible to - rather than connect my MacBook - connect the Time Capsule to this connection and create a wireless network? Also, is it simple to switch from one connection (my current WiFi at home) to another (the uni connection)? Finally, is it easy to switch from being connected via Ethernet to using WiFi (after initial backup for example)? The lack of WiFi would really be rubbish when I have an iPhone and Time Capsule.

I have just recieved a Macbook Pro as a birthday gift! Along with it came Airport Express. We already have an imac that is connected to the internet via an ethernet cable using the broadband provider Virgin Media. Can I create a wireless network with airport express and my broadband or do I need some sort of upgrade or additional hardware?

Just wondering, as the title suggests, whether the Brother HL-5370DW mono laser printer creates its own wireless access, or do I need a router?

I had to dissassemble my wireless Mighty Mouse to clean it properly, as the trackball was unable to scroll up and down. As I had cleaned the trackball, I attached the two internal cables to their respective "slots" again and assembled the mouse.
Now my right button does the same as the left button (right click = left click). I tried dissassembling the mouse again, but I cannot see what I could have done wrong. After all, there are only two cables to attach and de-attach inside it.

Like the title says, I can't find the ` key on my MacBook keyboard (I'm using my PC to type this). I need it for Perl programming. Google has failed me, which is odd because it's just a simple key function I want to find.

i've used PC all my life but i'm switching to a Mac hopefully by the end of this year so i've been searching the internet looking at the minor differences (i.e. alt on windows is cmd on a mac) but there's one thing i was wondering about but i can't find it. in windows, when you're in the web browser and not typing anything, you can hit the backspace key and it functions as the back button. i used this keyboard shortcut a lot and i was just wondering if you can do this on a mac as well.

I'm fairly new to macs. I got my first a few months ago (the Air) and I LOVE it! But something has been bugging me since I got it. When you delete text on windows you hold backspace and it deletes the characters one at a time for about half a second, then it speeds up a lot and deletes them quickly. I can't figure out how to do that on a mac though. When you backspace on a mac you hold delete but it never speeds up. I've looked through forums and stuff and can't find anything else on this problem. I don't know if that means there's a really simple solution, or if it's just something that nobody really cares enough about to mention.

I've got a Macbook Pro (early 2011 model) which I upgraded to Mavericks earlier this year and all has been working fine. Over the past few days I noticed my backspace key was playing up (sometimes it worked, other times I had to press hard a few times before it would work at all) until today when it decided it would not work at all. I have already checked in System Preferences and restored defaults as well as resetting the PRAM but to no avail so far. Is there anything else I can try or will I need to take it back to the store and get it looked at?

My Intel iMac (Late 2008, aluminum display, 24", 2GB RAM) has a problem where, when using the left arrow key on the desktop or to go back a space when renaming something in the Finder, it will put the computer to sleep. All other applications have no problem with the key. I've looked at all the usual culprits (keyboard shortcuts, preferences) and I can't find a reason. The only thing I can glean is that it is directly connected to the menu at the top, as the lights up right before the computer goes to sleep.

The 'Return' and 'Backspace' keys on my mac have recently stopped working. Nothing was spilled on them and nothing seems to be wrong with them when pressed down. I also removed the keys and checked that there was nothing in the way, but there wasn't. I have rung apple and they said it would need to be taken into a store, but there isn't one near by and it will be a few weeks until i can take it in. In the meantime, is there any way that I could remap the keys in question to another couple of keys. For instance right command and right option?

Suddenly my backspace button has stopped working. Restarting or running Windows XP doesn't help a thing. Is it possible to use the right shift button as a backspace-button, you know changing what the keys do. It's quite irritating not being able to delete stuff. What I'd like: To use my right shift key instead of the backspace.

I'm still trying to figure out Pages, after having recently switched from MS Word. But ... I really, really miss the Backspace, Home, and End functions that you have on the keyboard of most Windows based PC's. Any ideas of how I can configure keyboard shortcuts, etc to make up for the lack of these functions on the Macbook Pro (13") keyboard?

Ok so my iMac g3 has a left speaker that doesn't work. The right one works fine and when I turn the volume up the left speaker kind of buzzes. Is it even worth replacing the internal speaker? (IIRC it looks pretty difficult)

The hits just keep on coming with this thing First, it arrived with a massive glob of dust trapped between the backlight and LCD panel (still need to take to Genius Bar), then the PSU buzzing started and now it's making a random clicking/popping sound from the lower left. Its a very quiet sound but its noticeable in a quiet room. It appears to be random, but I can reproduce it by opening iTunes, playing a few seconds of a song, waiting at least 10 seconds in silence, then starting another song. *pop* and the song begins. This happens in QuickTime as well. What is going on here? I'm so exasperated right now, I wish Apple would just replace my troubled machine with a new one.
