I have a VESA mount on my 27" iMac. When I installed it, I had to use the white plastic card to make the piece of metal with the screws pop out and lock in place. I have the VESA mount unscrewed and the original stand screwed back on, but the little bolt block thing is still locked in place sticking out of the computer. Anyone know how to unlock it so it will slide back into the machine?
im debating wheather to mount my imac i bought the mount and i have my imac which i got yesterday but I heard its a bit tricky to install. If anyone here has done it can you please post some pictures.

I bought a VESA mount for my 27 inch iMac (core i7) after confirming with apple website that it is compatible with the new 27 inch.
But, unfortunately it DOES NOT fit!
Someone in apple support page have the same problem as me:
"I tried putting it on the new 27" iMac. The flange went on without any problem. The hole aligned with the pin, and all 8 screws were fastened easily. However, installation of the mount adapter plate was a different story... When it sits on top of the flange, the holes from the sides of the mount plate do not even align with the threaded holes of the flange. It was at least 2 mm off-centre. I had to remove the protective plastic strips at the edge of the mount adapter plate, only then the bolt can be threaded into the flange. Even so, the bolts were so tight that, on one side, I could only drive the bolt half-away in before I strip the hex pattern on top of the bolt."
Wonder anyone in this forum have the same problem? I'm going to call Apple Australia on monday morning!!!!

I had searched the forum for posts about VESA mounted minis and saw that some of you have your minis mounted, but I'm specifically looking for Monitor/TV mounted minis.
I live in an ancient house with tiny bedrooms, and I'd like to buy a mini for home theater/computing for my bedroom. It would be attached to the back of an LG23" TV/monitor.
For any of you that are using this method: Which brand of mount are you using (I was looking at the H Squared), and how do you like it? Is it stable? Does it make the monitor off balance?
I'm in the market for a 100mm VESA Desk/Wall Mount that's suitable for the 30" Apple Cinema Display. I already have the sub-assembly, just missing the actual fixture.
To be completely honest, I've looked at a few but I'm not completely sure what weight capacity I should be looking for. I can tell you one thing, the 30" ACD ain't a light mother, it's actually quite heavy, perhaps it's due to the Alu shell?
I wonder are there many people out there who might be using those? If your using one, either at work or in the home, would you mind posting your model and personal rating?
Ive been looking everywhere and I cant seem to find anything that would work. I am in need of a wall mount for a 22" cinema display.
I want to buy the 27" iMac, but for various reasons - most importantly height - I need to have it hang off a Vesa mount arm that will swing over my desk. Unfortunately, I need the screen to be fairly low, and the iMac stand would be in the way. MY QUESTION: is the stand on the iMac detachable, or not? When you mount it, do you simply have the stand hang below... seems ugly. Also, what is a good arm that would attach to a wall and extend at least 3 feet? TIA!

After taking the screws out and mentally marking which slot they came out of (some are of different size), I pulled the lid up at the black trim area (the "neck" of the display mount) as this was the easiest way to get a non-damaging grip on the metal underside -- read: I avoided using a screw driver on the lid. As I started to lift, I was surprised at the amount of force I needed to use in order to remove the lid; something near the center of the cover was still holding the lid to the underside of the body. In fact, the amount of force I needed to use made me pause to question if I missed an important step other than simply removing the screws. I decided to "go for it" and applied more pressure while pulling the lid up and away from the body and heard a "pop" noise.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been given a half torn apart iMac G3 700mhz (which still runs), and plan on putting it's bare essential parts into a case I'm making. I've taken out the drives and logic board with down converter, but now I'm stuck behind the CRT. I know it's very dangerous, but I need to get around it to get to the board underneath it. Do I have to discharge the CRT or could I just snip the suction cable connected to it without any risk? I plan on recycling the thing, but right now I just need it out of my way.

Are there instructions anywhere as to how to remove the 27" iMac from the stand holding it up? I want to transport it without the stand attached and reattach it. Do I need any special tools? Can't find anything via google or other forums on exactly how to do this. It can't be too hard being that the Vesa mount is suppose to be easy to put on.
View 5 Replies View RelatedGot a WD external drive for backup and the WD Smartware Icon is on my desktop and as I am not using the WD software I want to get it off my desktop but when I try to eject it or drag it to the trash it just goes right back to the desktop. If I drag it into the finder it just makes an alias and goes right back to the desktop. It showed up when I turned on the HD along with the MY BOOK icon. Turned off the HD but when I turned it back on same problem. There is an uninstaller for the software but as I have not installed the software it does not work.

I picked one up from a friend for $50 that needed new caps in the power supply (check) and was pretty roughed up cosmetically. If I try to move it, it creates a copy, and if I try to trash it, it ejects the disk, and I play the game enough that I don't want to have to be getting it out and in and out and in all the time, especially where I currently have my computer set up.

My wife just called in a panic. She opened an e-mail from Verizon Wireless. The e-mail noted that we had a bill of over $1100 which was completely wrong. Unfortunately she clicked on a graphic within the email and then decided to forward it to me. At that point, her mail app stopped functioning. I've Googled the issue and found out that she most likely has infected her iMac with a trojan. She is currently running an anti-virus software that I don't have much faith in. I tried using disk utility to open up the disk size, by streching the corner mark?? and verify it, as per a previous recommended remedy ..it failsÂ

My buddy and I just finished swapping the airport card for a mini pci-e sata card in his 2008 Imac and all is well. Unfortunately, we could not get it to show or mount anywhere on mine (2010). We tried everything. We loaded the raid drivers and the none raid. We tried both cards (his and mine) in my machine and still nothing. His Imac mounted his ssd immediately after installing the drivers. Could it be that the new logic boards do not support this type of card? Is there a special driver that I need for the i7? I was hoping this would add 2 more sata ports.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Q-Drive Q 1TB in Dec for my 24" iMac, purchased it at a Apple Store. I was connected with 800firewire cable, all seemed to be working ok, time machine etc. But in the past month the drive has become a nightmare, it will just disconnect at random. At that point i cannot get it to mount, unless I reboot my iMac. I have tried to connect with 400firewire and usb2, but the same problem persists. Needless to say I am somewhat annoyed, it was not cheap. Anyone have any advice on what I should do, I'm scared to go to G-Tech for support as what I could find appears to be a nightmare. Would I be able to return this to the Apple store that I bought it from?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy 27in late 2013 iMac using Yosemite 10.10.1 will not recognize USB card readers. I've tried 3 different card readers and even a brand new 3.0 reader. I only Lexar Professional Compact Flash cards, so I have to use an external card reader. My 2010 Macbook Pro has no problems reading all 3 of my external card readers. If I plug in an SD card to the external card reader nothing happens, but if I insert the SD card straight into the iMac it can recognize the card immediately. What am I doing wrong?

On my MacBook Pro (Late 2007, Discrete, Snow Leopard), Adobe Photoshop CS5 keeps removing itself from my dock for no reason. I'll drag the app to my dock and within about 5 seconds, the app simply disappears from the dock. I have tried dragging it back multiple times, restarting my computer, etc, but it always disappears within about 5 seconds.
