Does anybody have any tips on how to get RAM out of an aluminum iMac? I've been pulling on the plastic tabs for over a half an hour, pulling side-to-side, straight, and both RAM modules refuse to budge.
View 2 Repliesmy safari upon opening shows a tab for the current window. i thought tabs only appeared when you have 2 or more concurrent windows open at the same time.
is there a way to hide the tab when you only have 1 window open?

OK, I'm a little stumped by this: I open a new tab that is blank...not even showing history. When I type in an address on the blank tab (2nd tab), the 1st tab changes and the 2nd tab stays blank. In order to view multiple pages, I have to use New Window. After several windows.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open a new tab it leaves the new tab blank and changes the tab I'm already working on...doesn't do this all the time, but enough to make it irritating. Basically it makes additional tabs uselesss
Also, if I am working successfully in 2 or more tabs for a while it will freeze on the last URL I used on the newest tab and not allow me to go to any new pages on any of the tabs...the only solution to this seems to be quitting Safari and restarting..PITA
I really like Safari, but it's been doing this to me for a few weeks now. Gonna go back to Firefox for the time being and hope that a future update fixes it.
Like the title says, when I open multiple tabs at once Safari hangs my network. Maybe two of tabs are loaded the others are stopped in the middle...and the whole network hangs...

I may have 2 or 3 Tabs open and decided to open another, example Amazon. I start to look around and 'say' I want to find a CD cover to make a copy of to paste onto something, I find said CD and then all of a sudden nothing works, no hyper links, zero. The only way I can them to work again is to copy the present page I am on, open a new Tab, paste the link in and all works again? But the not the original Tab. Plus if I try the 'ctrl _ T/pad' to open the options you then get (to then copy subject for one) nothing, yet I tried this in Google Chrome just to test and see if that works and it does. As I was even writing this everything suddenly stop, could not even 'highlight' some of the text and copy (cmd + C) .........

I have really tried to like the new Safari, but I can't seem to generate 'affection' for the tabs. One thing especially is irritating to me. Being over the address bar is bad enough, but when there's a bunch of tabs, finding a spot to 'grab' the window to move it is difficult.
Is there a way to move the tabs back below the address window like the older Safari? I hope this hasn't been asked and answered before. I didn't see it.
Safari had tabs yesterday. Today - no tabs nor tab bar. Nothing in Safari Preferences brings back the tabs. How can I get my tabs back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am not sure what happened but it seems my two year old child might have spilled something on my macbook. The keyboard stopped working and when I pressed a key the letter "Z" got stuck. I purchased a used "topcase" from ebay, installed it and I am still experiencing the same phenomonon, although other letters can type normally. My gut instinct is that there is something else wrong ""deeper to the keyboard".

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy iMac is currently having the problem that it gets stuck at the apple logo whenever I start it up. I posted about this problem in another thread but now I have a new question. In my iMac there is a disc, and i need this disc as soon as possible. Since its stuck at the apple logo i can't seem to be able to eject the disc by just pressing the eject button on my apple keyboard. I don't want to have ago at my iMac with a knife or credit card in order to get it out, so does anybody know a way to make my iMac eject this disc? Someone told me about holding my mouse while booting. Does this mean i have to hold down my mouse button while starting it up?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a 17" iMac Core 2 Duo. It has been crashing more and more lately. Now when I turn it on, it sits at the apple logo. The spinner does not appear. I tried new sticks of ram, and same thing. I can boot off a windows or Linux cd with the c key, but they freeze halfway through bootup. I ran a hard disk check also.
I ran software update and got (iPhoto, itunes, Security patch) so I ran it and downloaded everything except the Intel Security Patch. So I restarted and decided to try again. Restart didn't work as it got stuck and I had to reach around and restart by holding down the power button. When it came back up, I got the white screen with the grey apple logo and the spinning clock like icon..... spinning and that is where I am stuck, left it off all night and tried it in the morning, same thing.
I did try:
-resetting pram (nothing happened)
-restart in safe mode, holding down shift key (nothing, stuck on screen)
I would try to start up from the OSX disk except I have a DVD in the machine. I am thinking it was that security update that didn't download fully that is doing this but how do I get the imac, "unstuck"? or how do I manually eject that DVD to put in a OSX start up disk?
I picked up this G4 (M6498, 17", 800/256/80HD) from a lady in her 80's whose son sent her a new G5, but I'm having trouble getting it to boot on HD or CD. When I turn it on all I get is a file icon alternating between mac face and "?". Boot from IMAC CD: same thing - I hear the CD track switching a few times periodically but that's it. Boot from OS9 Install CD: same thing. I'm not that familiar with iMac, although I've had a few other Mac machines on and off through the years AppleIIe, PowerMacG3). Any suggestions what to try next?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 24" that I have had for about 18 months now, after switching from a PC. I absolutely, positively love my iMac and OSX, and will never go back to Windows. I love absolutely everything about how my iMac looks and behaves, with one big exception. The "Mighty" Mouse. Simply put, it sucks. It isn't so mighty. Not the design or the looks, on the contrary, it fits the hand, and has all the buttons in the right place. But just one 'tiny' thing really kills me - the tracking. I have tried both the corded and the bluetooth versions, and they both suck. Neither one will track fast enough to go across my 24" of sapace without lifting the mouse up to return it to the position I started from. And yes, I know all about Steermouse, and have it loaded even with my current Logitech laser mouse. Problem is, it (the Logitech mouse) looks terrible sitting next to my classy iMac. Has anyone out there found a way to make the Mighty Mouse (either version) track better? Is the problem in the hardware, or software? Just my 2 cents I guess.

View 14 Replies View RelatedAs a new IMac user (24 hours) I decided to copy my entire CD collection on to my computer. I now have a CD that is stuck in my IMac. It doesn't read/display at all, nor will it eject when I select this option from ITunes. Is there a way to manually eject the disc or another way that I may not be familiar with given my lack of apple experience? I have over 500 CDs to copy and I have only done 10 or so when this occurred.

I received an iMac G5 from this old couple, they were going to throw it out, but all it needed was a power supply which I bought and replaced. It's been about 9 months and everything worked great, no problems whatsoever.
Three days ago, I shutdown the computer and when I booted the next day, it would only reach the Apple logo and the spining wheel, the fans would blast loud and then it would shut down and restart again, repeating the same thing over and over. I cannot start it under Safe Mode nor it recognizes the CD when booting.

accidentally put a second cd in and it took it right away .. now it keep trying to eject the thing making such enoying noise .. i cant mannually remove it cause the slit is protected and theres no way i can actually even peek inside the slit ( i would help ). i mean is there any solution to this or ill have to go to the apple store again mat

Earlier this week I did a clean re-install of SL and now in safari 4 I cannot remember how to get the tabs back like they where in safari 3 - under the address bar. I have search on here and also in google, but they did not retrieve much.
