My computer screen is skipping and switching erratically between sites/functions. Sometimes it just switches to a grey dashboard screen. Has anyone had this problem?

Just recently my cursor started moving erratically and it's difficult to click where intended. The screen gets big and small without my touching the trackpad. What's wrong - is it a virus or a malfunction in the trackpad? I have an OS X 10.9.5

I have used 3 iMac's/Macbooks and continue to have this issue. I even had a 27" i7 with 8 gb/ram. Every time I would click or do something while a video was streaming (on Hulu for example) I would get a slight stutter in the video.I have all updates installed. I know many of you use Mac Mini's to stream media to your televisions. I don't understand why I've experienced these problems with three different computers. I suppose it may be a Flash problem? Just looking for tips. I noticed it again today when I tried to stream something on CNN.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my iMac for about 4 months, i have been using it as my main desktop since. I have noticed black smudges, kinda like finger prints on the screen that would not go away after cleaning it with a damp cloth. I removed the glass panel and cleaned inside the glass and the problem still remained.
This is not the main issue, i can live it with. I have two iMacs with the same specs, one is in my main home office that i used most of the time while the other is my home that i use not that much. The smudges does annoy me when i watch movies a little bit but its not enough to get me to replace my mac. I was thinking since i used my office iMac more is it possible to switch the hard drives on them so that i get all the info from my office iMac onto my home iMac without complications?
Since i dont use the home iMac as much as the office one i can tolerate a few black smudges more and i would have an iMac in the office that looked new.If i switch the hard drives will it be as if i switch macs and if anyones knows how to fix the black smudges it would be a great help.
My newest discovery is that when my computer freezes up what ever sound is playing makes a skipping noise and then I have to kill power to shut off what is the cause or how can I find out is there any log I can run or check to see the last action process that went on?

When I have more than one or more application open, after a while it will keep skipping back and forth between them, and zooming in and out so you can see a smaller version of them all so they fit into the screen.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a late 2011 iMac (21.5") that has worked pretty well since purchase in November, 2011. However recently I started to experience severe lagging and even major skipping when viewing Flash video content on a number of different sites. The behavior exists in both Firefox and Safari, and I've tried a clean install of Flash twice now with no improvement. I also upgraded my router to address intermittent wireless outages that I thought were contributing to the video performance issues.
I was previously using an old Airport Express, and purchased a new Airport Extreme. That improved my wireless performance dramatically. Constant signal drops disappeared, and my speedtest.net speed went from all over the map with an average of 5Mbps to a smooth steady 50Mbps almost every time. However the video issues have persisted. Yesterday I downloaded temperature monitor to see if overheating was an issue. Here are my readings after about 40 minutes of running flash content:
I just purchased an APC UPS (something I've been meaning to do anyway) but I'm doubtful power fluctuations are the culprit. I'll try plugging directly into the router of course, to see if somehow flash content is causing some wifi signal variance that speedtest doesn't pick up. But I'm beginning to worry that my GPU is the real issue here.

I have 2 new macs, (24 and 27), only 1 of which I use at a time. It is sinking into my consciousness that ScreenRecycler is the best way to utilize both computers, and to use the 24 as the second monitor, via ScreenRecycler. This is more apt, I think, than TelePort, which works dandy. I make books and I have InDesign on the main computer; and the toolbars, Photoshop, Excel, at al, on the second monitor. I copy and paste a whole lot, and Teleport is not appropriate for that.

I have the 27'" Imac with slight yellow tint on bottom and grey bar shadow running along the bottom as well. Additionally, the buzzing sound when brightness lowered below 50%. The computer works great otherwise and I don't hear buzzing when at normal distance from screen. My dilemma: Apple has offered to send a technician to my home to replace the screen, and they said that whould also fix the buzzing noise at lower brightness at the same time.
My question is have people been satisified or had better luck with screen replacements rather than simply asking for a new computer in exchange. If I'm simply swapping displays to get the same results, or even exchanging computer to only get the same results or worse, I would rather delay this interaction until a real fix is in place. My current Imac has no dead pixels, and works great except for these issues. HD makes a grumbling noise, but I think WD Black Caviars are known to be a bit noisy.
Any advice on way to go would be appreciated. Swap out display? Exchange computer? Stand pat?
All websites are coming up with a black background and the pictures are distorted. My daughter did something and we can't figure out what she did. I have gone through the screen saver menu but it doesn't work.

I have a 4 month brand-new macbook pro which is not heavily used at all, one day my trackpad is working fine, today it is moving around extremely erratically, switching from screen to screen, going to mission control with only one finger swipe etc. I cannot use it at all, I have to use a plug-in mouse. I have checked all my rpeferences for trackpad and nothing has changed. How do I fix this?

The Reminders App have become unusable. I unable to create a new Reminder or modify an existing one. Every time I want to make a change in a field in the individual Reminder window it closes. This makes creation and updating impossible. From time to time the App just crashes for no apparent reason.

I have a 27 inch desktop. Upon turning the computer on within seconds the fan comes on. Then it goes to a high fan. Then it goes to a black screen. Then it shuts off. Then if you click the mouse it will come back on. This cycle repeats itself every 5 seconds. Only one time in the past month did it turn on normally and run for me.

They wok fine on my wife's windows laptop but not on the iMac (even in my windows partition). I suspect it's an airport thing but it could also be the router (billion wireless).

It simply crashes with a dialog box asking to contact Apple ( to date no response ) The unit is an Imac 600MHZ with 1G of ram. The issue is a new one. here we are with SnowLeopard 10.6.x and it still has no automatic shutting off laptop screen (Macbook Pro) when hooking up external monitor????Why do i have to close the lid, let my laptop go to sleep, wake it up, re-enter password, have my internet shut down and re-activate and all other processes just to shut down my MBP screen when hooked up to my cinema display???Hell even Windows Vista/ 7 does it automatically when i tested it via Bootcamp, requiring no closing of the lid or halting any processes or the internet.

My 11" MacBook Air recently just started randomly switching from full screen apps back to the desktop by itself without me using the 4-fingered swipe to change desktops/apps. I've tried quitting (almost) every app and no matter what app is left open, it keeps sliding from the full screen app back to the desktop. I've rebooted the laptop a good three times and it's also been fully shut down and turned back on twice and it still keeps switching.
