Don't know how to setup email on this imacg5 desktop. the operating system is OS X 10.4.11.at&t is the service. im wireless the main computer is in another room. What do i need to do to set it up?

Now that gmail is available for the iphone as exchange, it is possible to also get it to push email to desktop clients like mail.app? Theoretically, I can just follow the instructions for the iphone and apply it to mail.app right?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I pick up my pop email (thru apple mail) on my iPhone, it doesn't appear in Apple Mail on my desktop. I don't delete it and have to rules or prefs that tell Mail to delete it or remove it from the server.
When I use Thunderbird on my desktop, that doesn't happen. In other words, I open Apple Mail on my phone and read my email. Then later I open Thunderbird on my desktop and the mail is still there. Open Apple Mail on my desktop, the mail is gone.
Just because I read an email on my phone, doesn't mean I don't want it in a folder on my desktop.
My office needs to be able to move email folders out of Outlook 2011 and into our documents to free up space.Â
We do however need to ensure that the emails are kept in date order when moved out of Outlook - is this possible?Â
So far, every time I've moved emails into a desktop folder the date created automatically changes to the date that I've moved the emails. Is there a way to retain the original date, aside from opening each email to check the date?Â

I'm fairly new to the MAC world and have not found my way around this computer completely. I have seen a commercial of an iMAC sending email and a swishing sound occurred when the email was sent. I wonder how one turns on the sound that indicates the email has been transmitted? And, are there choices of different sounds for this purpose?

but back to my question. After setting up my system and installing all the tools and software I was trying to find some cool images for the desktop background, like stills from Avatar or something like that, but I wasn't able to find anything near the iMacs resolution.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have six separate accounts for family members on our Imac. Most work well. However, when two of our children access their accounts, the desktop background size shrinks to about 80% of the screen size. The fonts and icons also become larger. When they log off of their accounts, the appearance changes all of the other accounts until we re-start the computer. Re-start makes it go back to full screen size until on of the two affected accounts are accessed again.
I've attempted changes through the desktop appearance menus in preferences, to no avail.
I have a new 27" iMac and when i turn it on it goes straight to the desktop instead of the log in screen. How can i make the log in screen come up first? I tried looking through system prefs but had no luck.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI put in a computer game i found in my iMac, and the CD didn't come up on the desktop like CD's usually do. It just continued whirring like it was loading the CD, nothing happened. I tried to restart, but it got to the desktop background, and the little black swirly thing in the middle of the screen. And after 15 minutes it didn't restart OR shut-down so i had to press the power button, which I hate doing. So i now i have no way of getting the CD out, and I'm kind of scared I've completely knackered it, everything else is working swimmingly, but theres a CD stuck in the drive and i can't get it out :|

I have windows PC's on same network and I can set up the exchange email accounts in Outlook for those users with the same information I'm using for the iMAC. The iMAC will not accept the user name and password.When I set up the new exchange email account, I give it the email address and password, then the next screen adds the exchange server address, which I enter then it says mail can not log into the exchange server.Is there something different you have to do with exchange to support MAC users?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was using adobe final cut and I exported an flv movie and it put every single frame from the movie all on my desktop. Now the minute it loads it jams finder and I get a beachball that will never end.
I need Ti delete all these images but can get to that point before it freezes. I'm totally stuck, any ideas?? I have a proposal to finish tonight and I'm losing my mind.
Daughters imac desktop upstairs has always had a weak connection (takes a few times to get started) but has been used this way for 3 years.
Of late she cannot get connected unless she brings it down to next to the router, and often dosen't work unless she plugs in the ethernet cable.
I just purchased my first mac (a macbook 2.4) and I'd love to buy a mini, but I can't justify it until it gets an upgrade. Here's to hoping that the sources in this article are wrong, since 2010 is little too far away for an upgrade for my taste....

The problem has just started today, when switching on my computer, All the desktop icons appear wider than usual and the icons from the left part are missing (as if I had my laptop connected to the LCD screen before pressing F7), pressing F7 doesn't solve the problem. What can I do to restore the normal view? BTW all the laptop keys work fine.

What I would like to do is to use my license for software I use on both the laptop & my machine, can I duplicate the user or migrate the user to the laptop & sync the info when in the same wifi location of my iMac. I know there is iDisk but I'm not paying for that service. I would like to mirror my iMac desktop on the laptop. I'm sure this can be done.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot a WD external drive for backup and the WD Smartware Icon is on my desktop and as I am not using the WD software I want to get it off my desktop but when I try to eject it or drag it to the trash it just goes right back to the desktop. If I drag it into the finder it just makes an alias and goes right back to the desktop. It showed up when I turned on the HD along with the MY BOOK icon. Turned off the HD but when I turned it back on same problem. There is an uninstaller for the software but as I have not installed the software it does not work.
