Mar 3, 2012The Imac & macbook pro are constantly claiming I'm not connected to the internet, right in the middle of an email or a video. I can go to some websites, while others claim there is no internet connection. At the same time, the wifi claims im online & my son's PC has never any of these issues, so I know it's not the actual internet connection or the wifi router. It's only happening on the macs, & only began around Christmas 2011 & it's now starting to get very annoying & making me wonder if I should give these away & go back to PC.

Mar 30, 2008I have a ignorant friend that just upgraded from Panther (10.3) to Leopard (10.5) via the upgrade method and did not backup before hand. His issue is that the Mail conversion didn't complain, but all mailboxes contents were missing.
The Inbox folder in Mail was empty and Drafts was completely missing, as well as some other system generated folders (AFAIK). Other user created folders were in Mail on the left, but were empty. We were able to import the Foo.mbox folders into Mail, so we got the user created folders contents back, but that doesn't help for drafts or few hundred emails in the inbox.
OS X :: Desktop Rotated And Lost All My Stuff?
Dec 26, 2008Something very weird happened to me today. I was using my computer, I typed in a search and hit go and the screen rotated out of the way like a cube transition in a photo app. The new screen was blue and I thought I had pushed a f button I was unaware of. Anyway I pushed all the buttons on top to no avail. The only way I could get my computer off and restarted was the on button on back. When it re-booted back all my personal documents seem to be missing, the dock was missing all but the stock apps and when I tried to open iphoto or mail, all the files were missing.
I rebooted from the OS X startup disc and ran a repair, it said the disc was fine. I repaired all the permissions, to no avail. I even ran tech tool pro and it says all was fine. After hours of pain I ended up restoring the drive using time machine. Now I lost all my photos from Christmas....
Ha anyone seen anything like this and what is the rotating desktop?

Aug 8, 2009OS 10.5 and she suddenly lost the desktop. All blue. Classic comes up but can't be opened. She can access the web. But nothing else. She is most concerned about losing her files, not all of which were backed up.

OS X :: Lost Password For Desktop Application - Not In Keychain
Apr 22, 2009I have an application on my desktop that is attached to a webserver updating account that I need to modify the settings for. Problem is, I've forgotten the password and their 'forgot password' thing isn't responding after a few hours. If I could just reveal the password that's saved on the desktop application then I wouldn't have to mess with it. I looked all though Keychain, but it doesn't seem to be anywhere in there. Back in PC days there were tons of applications that could just reveal what was behind the little dots. After about 20 minutes of searching, it seems that the mac world offers no such convenience. Anyone know some other way around this? I mean, it must be stored somewhere on here. The application is remembering the password.

Before I had the inbox in the top half of the screen and the message body in the bottom half. May 16, 2012I recently noted that accented characters are lost in long name description of email alias address when using Mail.app but ok when using webmail in iCloud.com Setup in the prefs of the master mail account in iCloud, the long name description for the corresponding alias.is transcripted as "Frdric" in Mail.app when selecting the sender address in the dropdown list box.However, all is fine when using webmail within iCloud.com The problem appears only with OSX not with iOS.
I have been using my alias with accented char in its long name description for the last 4 years with Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion until recently. I can replicate on 3 differents Macs. Even tried to create a new user account.

Dec 21, 2010I was just doing a superduper backup which failed halfway through because i didnt realise my wd passport drive that was plugged in was auto backing stuff up and there must have been a conflict. Now, I dont know what to do. Email accounts.gone. Any registered apps, still there but reg details gone, any and all system preferences (like trackpad setup just came to mind) gone. Dock and all the items in it and crap I made to ,make it look fancy. gone. Stuff that loads at the stuff...gone.
I know this must have to do with my user directory but wtf? I know my timemachine backup is fine as i did one before all the problems, but is my superduperbackup screwed? I cant stress how screwed I am, I got reports due right before xmas and im like at square 1 now.
