I sometime use my MacBook on a big LCD screen. To do so, I press F7. The problem has just started today, when switching on my computer, All the desktop icons appear wider than usual and the icons from the left part are missing (as if I had my laptop connected to the LCD screen before pressing F7), pressing F7 doesn't solve the problem. What can I do to restore the normal view? BTW all the laptop keys work fine.

When i log onto my old eMac under my profile, it loads the wallpaper and the toolbar but nothing else. Whenever the mouse passes over the desktop itself, it just turns into that little pinwheel that signifies a problem. Whenever I try to use Finder, it locks the computer up completely. All applications on the toolbar work, including firefox and iTunes, but since Finder is broken I can't use things like external drives. Is there any way to get my computer to halt whatever process is confusing my poor finder without hurting my iTunes?

When I open some, maybe a tenth of my incoming emails, they open in window much wider than my display, like twice display width. Probably happens on mail sent from Windows machines. No other time, in no other application, does anything display beyond normal screen width.
I have to scroll WAY OUT right to for example get to the reply button.
In Firefox or Chrome. My normal email is gmail. This is not in Apple Mail. This happens in Firefox or Chrome receiving in gmail.

My keyboard and mouse is not responding my 3.06 ghz 24" iMac. A day prior I ran the leopard dfu fix script and it worked fine. I was able to jailbreak my iPhone and everything was okay. Earlier today I used the comuter and it was okay. Othing seemed wrong. I turned it off and just now I tried to turn it on and the keyboard and mouse is not responding. Does anybody have a solution?

The cursor is not frozen, but if I try anything I get the spinning wheel. I've tried restarting. I need to interrupt this copying and get all the photos off the desktop.

I have found the past 4 weeks that my iMac will not respond to any mouse movement, keyboard, trackpad or pushing the power button every 5 days or so. I must unplug from the wall, replug into wall then push power button, then it boots up. I have had iMac for 9 months and has always just went to sleep and when I move mouse awakens. After I must unplug, it works correctly again for 5 to 6 days then must be unplugged again. Anyone know why this is happening as I do not believe any settings have been changed and I am the only user of this iMac.

The hanging appears to have been caused when I accidently moved about 40GB of old photo's onto my desktop. Almost immediately I tried to cancel but all that happened is that the system has hung. Processer can be heard working in the background.
I have a 27-inch, Mid 2011 running the 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5. I currently have 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 in four slots (4 each).
When I uploaded OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and shortly after uploaded CleanMyMac 2 I started to experience tremendous latency in processing speeds on all applications. Running CleanMyMac 2 multiple times and removing no longer used apps to free up space did little to resolve the issue.

I am trying to figure out why an iMAC does not boot properly. Model ECM 2133 Memory:1GB (only 1 module in one of the 2 available slots). Everytime I push the power button I only hear the chime sound and that's it. You can hear the HDD spinning but the screen is always black. I already did the SMU and PRAM reset and nothing changes.Keyboard is still unresponsive and the screen is black. Mouse light is responsive. I pluged the keyboard on another computer and it works fine. Sorry if I'm not doing something right but I am a newbie with MAC's

I had removed the "everyone - Read Only" rights on the HD (on the iMac) and opened sharing so my MB could attach to it. Grey Apple Logo and progress circle upon startup now.Can changing these rights cause the system to not boot? I can go into single user mode but I am not sure what to do then.

My 3-month old iMac was responding very slowly when I used the latest version of Safari. So I forced quit the program. From then on, whenever I turned on the iMac, it would get stuck at the Apple logo start up screen. I had to unplug the power since the machine is getting very hot after 15 mins.

but back to my question. After setting up my system and installing all the tools and software I was trying to find some cool images for the desktop background, like stills from Avatar or something like that, but I wasn't able to find anything near the iMacs resolution.

However, when two of our children access their accounts, the desktop background size shrinks to about 80% of the screen size. The fonts and icons also become larger. When they log off of their accounts, the appearance changes all of the other accounts until we re-start the computer. Re-start makes it go back to full screen size until on of the two affected accounts are accessed again.
I've attempted changes through the desktop appearance menus in preferences, to no avail.
I have a new 27" iMac and when i turn it on it goes straight to the desktop instead of the log in screen. How can i make the log in screen come up first? I tried looking through system prefs but had no luck.

It just continued whirring like it was loading the CD, nothing happened. I tried to restart, but it got to the desktop background, and the little black swirly thing in the middle of the screen. And after 15 minutes it didn't restart OR shut-down so i had to press the power button, which I hate doing. So i now i have no way of getting the CD out, and I'm kind of scared I've completely knackered it, everything else is working swimmingly, but theres a CD stuck in the drive and i can't get it out :|
