Since when I created an hotmail account on my iMac all the emails have been downloaded into the machine, but I can't consult them online from another PC. How can I keep using my hotmail with the Mac keeping the emails on the server?

Since yesterday the mail programme on my iMac does not download e-mails from the gmail server, but luckily I still can send e-mails. On the iPhone I still receive e-mails and I can send e-mails. The iPhone is connected to the internet either via 3G or the same router I am using for the iMac.
Via the Safari browser I do have access to all my e-mails on the gmail server. Mail: Version 4.5 (1084)

Two years ago I switched over to Mac. Now I use only mac. But I don't like to change my email address from hotmail (I still have another gmail address as a standby account). Recently I found I cannot send emails from my hotmail account. Windows live says to upgrade my browser safari. Downloaded the safari new version. Then I found it is not compatible with my operating system OS X 10.5.5. What shall I do? I don' like the way they change software. There should be some solution. Can I buy new operating system? If it says Hardware is not compatible then money go into waste.

They are always duplicates of emails which I've already seen (as opposed to emails arriving much later than they were sent).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know this issue is kind of old, but there are so many flavors of it, that it is hard to find exact match. I've been having problems with single account, and it happens that this account has admin rights. Emails get pulled/deleted from user's mailbox within 10 secs after arrival. There are no other devices that may be pulling those emails, however, I've noticed something strange in the logs:

I don't know if this event is normal to run on server itself, but seems it runs only for this one account that I'm having problems with. There is no imap client setup on that server, and based on my time stamps observations I'm pretty much convinced that's what's deleting my emails.
Every few minutes, my Mail rejects my Hotmail password and says "The Hotmail POP serverrejected the password for user ______". I looked it up on google and apparently hotmail may be set up to reject passwords or deny POP access if the polling rate is too fast... I'm not sure what's going on. I click "remember password in keychain" every time but it pops up every hour at least.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI setup my hotmail in Mail some time ago. And I guess I forgot some setting, because what happend was that ALL my email was transfered from the hotmail server to my local Mail on OSX. How do I transfer them back to the hotmail server, without loosing date stamp?
I am thinking of i.e:
1. Create some pst file (or alike) that can be uploaded to Hotmail.
2. Find some setting that will sync the emails back to hotmail.

i have a hotmail email address i use, i have been using mac lion mail here the problem - i found loads of my emails missing when using hotmail webpage but in MacMail they are all there still.i found that in macmail settings "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" was selected(after one week). I am having a problem with keeping all of my folders arranged by Kind. I have gone into the tasks toolbar in finder. From there I go to Show View Options, then I click choose Arrange by Kind, and then click use as defaults. This does not work, because when I go into a different folder or if I create a folder inside a different folder (that I made), the folder is not arranged by Kind. I have also tried using alt and going to the task toolbar to Keep Arranged By. However both options are only arranging the folder that I am in. I want every folder to be arranged this way.

I have had a mbp for about 4yrs now and I just keep some dustoff handy for under the keyboard and such. Wondering if that's the same general concept with the iMac? Also for the monitor is regular glass cleaner fine? I use a microfiber and optical lens spray for the mbp should I use that on the iMac as well or will a paper towel and windex be fine?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Mail.app for quite a while now. I have two email accounts linked up to it, one being a gmail and the other my school email. The Gmail account is a POP server and everything works great. I can send/receive all my emails and its fine. My school email is an IMAP account and while I can receive emails I cannot send emails through the IMAP server unless I am at school. Is this an issue with my incoming and outgoing mail servers? I am assuming this is the problem but honestly I am not sure. I also have noticed Gmails new IMAP capability. Would this possibly benefit me? Could I forward my IMAP account to Gmail and then use Gmails server to send emails through my school account.

If I delete them in the Mail app, they remain on my online inbox, and Vice Versa. I've tried hitting Sync Account in the mailbox drop-down menu but that doesn't do anything.

I have been using for outlook 2011 without any dramas until yesterday when i got a new mobile broadband ISP (Telstra). I can receive emails fine but when I try to send any I get the following error:
"Outlook cannot connect to the server. Verify that your computer is connected to the network."
I am trying to use Mac mail.app for my Gmail account, a paid account holding about 10GB of mail. I have no trouble setting up the account in mail.app, but I gather IMAP set ups store all the Inbox locally? Certainly set up of the gmail account in mail consumes over 10G of my precious MBP HD space.
So, is it possible to set up Mac mail with webmail so it that it more or less acts as a UI for the webmail account? I know I could easily use an app like Mailplane (nice but constantly crashes for me) or just a browser, but I am frustrated by the fact that OSX defaults to mail when an email link is clicked (maybe there is a fix for this) and I do like drag and drop file attaching, as well as the integration with iPhone, mobileme etc.
I have got a talk talk email account. I have set my iphone to remove emails from the server following deletion from my phone, however, when i look at my emails on my macbook, all the emails are still there. They just don't remove.

I have email through a web hosting company setup as IMAP through Apple Mail. In preferences, I have the box checked to save sent emails on the server, however, when I send emails they are stored in Sent Messages folder on my Mac and not on my web server. Also, when I send emails on my iPhone they are stored in the regular Sent folder for my email under Mailboxes.
How can I get all my sent emails stored on my web server?

Since I have had my system upgraded to Maverick I can no longer download emails from my server/provider. Mail asks for the password for the user (me) and when I type it in nothing happens.
There is no problem connecting to my server/provider online, so the server is working ok. My guess is that I am missing some crucial ticked or unticked box in the mail set up.
like I said, no email alerts of mails getting through at the moment (so have to read everything only when I'm online...).
