OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Macbook Says It Connected To Wifi But Internet Doesn't Work

Apr 14, 2012

1. tried deleting Airport and then re-adding then clicking apply. Worked the very first time I tried this and it has only worked twice since.

2. tried allowing all incoming connections, worked once now problem still persists.

3. Tried re-starting router, this has never worked

4. There was a post about deleting a file, the person said they were instructed by apple care to do this, that didn't work either.

- Seems to only do this when the computer is on sleep mode

- everything else in the house connects fine to the internet

- this problem does not only happen in my house, it happens at coffee shops etc

- sometimes it is able to connect via tethering off my iphone

- this was a problem 2 years ago on this computer, then it was fine for 2 years and now it's back!

Hardware :: Unable To Get Internet To Work / That Is Connected To WiFi

Nov 21, 2009

I have a MacBook pro that I'm having issues with. It connects to my home Wi-Fi (the n version of the Apple Airport Base Station) and I get a strong signal but whether I use Firefox or any other web browser or internet based program I get a message that I'm not connected to the internet. I can even select network diagnostics and it walks me through steps where I choose my network, reset my cable modem, base station, etc. and at the end it says it is unable to fix the problem. i have a 2nd MBP that I use on the same network with no issues at all. This issue started showing up about a month ago but did not happen often. Most of the time it happened when I had shut my MBP down since I had to go take it with me to meetings. Often after removing the battery for a minute I could boot up and it would work but now no matter what I do it won't work. I know I may have to go to the genius bar to have this looked at but hope to avoid it. Is there any other troubleshooting I can do?

MacBook Pro :: Using Wifi - Connected To Internet But Pages Won't Load?

Jul 30, 2010

I tried ringing apple but unbeknownst to me my warranty has expired so wanted to see could I fix it before using money that was intended for my new iPhone. Right, so yesterday I used a friends o2 dongle and I was asked did I want to save internet settings, I said yes - not knowing what I was saving (silly silly).

I had to do work at my old college but was unable to connect to wifi. Went to the IT lads and they fixed it - sort of - I could access the Internet but no sites that required a log in eg gmail facebook.

I am now at home and on my iPod typing this as my Mbp won't connect to the Internet! It was connecting to the wifi provider, have full signal but won't load the pages. I know it can't be the wifi as my iPod works fine.

MacBook Pro :: WiFi Connected But Internet Not Working Upstairs?

Sep 3, 2014

I have a MPB early 2011 and I have talktalk internet. I have absolutely no problems with my wifi up until the last week. I can use the internet perfectly fine downstairs when I am in the living room (where the router is located) as I am typing this using it, however when I go upstairs i.e. to the bedroom directly above where the router is situated I am still connected to the internet at the wifi symbol is black however i lose internet connection and I am not able to use the internet at all. This is a new issue as before, I was able to use my MPB anywhere in the house without any problems.

I don't believe it's the router as my iPhone connects fine upstairs and we also have a MPB late 2013 and that works perfectly fine upstairs.

MacBook Pro :: Internet Connection Stops Working Connected To Wifi Hotspot?

May 9, 2012

I use a 4G Galaxy Nexus to broadcast a private WPA2 network.  The 4G signal is always strong, and I've verified that the internet is active on the broadcasting device, and that other non-Apple devices maintain a solid connection.  However my macbook pro does not lose the network connection, the internet stops working only on the macbook pro and I must "turn Wifi Off" and back on using the top right menu icon in order for the internet connection to resume working on the laptop. It will stop working every 5-10 minutes.

OS X Mavericks :: Connected To Wifi But Not To Internet

Jun 3, 2014

I just got a referbrished macbook pro retina and I'm having issues connecting to the internet. My old macbook pro, as well as every single other device, is able to connect to the internet without issue. My new macbook, however, isn't able to. Everything is typed in correctly as it is connecting to the router. Just no internet. However, there is one strange difference between my old macbook and my new macbook. The old one has a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 while the new one has 255.255.0.0. The old one also has router information under the subnet mask, while the new one is blank.

Intel Mac :: WiFi Connected But No Internet - Failed To Load Pages

Jun 6, 2012

I just bought a new iMac yesterday at the Apple store. I connected it at home to install a few programs, and the internet worked perfectly. (I also own an older iMac plus a unibody Macbook.) I go to the office today, and the wireless and ethernet cables connect and show bars, but fail to load any pages off the internet. All of the other computers in the office are PCs and connect perfectly fine to the internet using both wifi and ethernet cables. It's just the iMac.

I already tried the following: unplugged all USB devices plugged and unplugged external display closed all applications (except of Finder of course) resetted all energy saving preferences deactivated bluetooth checked share options (everything is deactivated)

Then I unplugged it from the power supply and after I closed the lid, it went to sleep. Then plugged in power supply again and sleep didn't work.

OS X :: Saying Internet Connected But Won't Work

Dec 5, 2009

Recently, after installing the new AEBS sometimes the internet on the MBP just stops, airport says it's connected and shows 3-4 signal strength. It works for about 15 seconds and then stops, if I turn airport off and then back on it's working again, but stops shortly after.

I've found when playing warcraft 3 on LAN with the MBP in the bedroom, that it lags a bit, and shows the "disconnect" player dialog/button.

I opened Airport Utility on the MBP, clicked Manual Setup and it's timed out after a while and says "An error occurred while reading the configuration, make sure your Airport wireless device is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via ethernet and try again (-6722)". It's only about 3 metres away from the AEBS (I shut it down and turned it back on also) and my dads Mac is about half a metre away from it, mines plugged in via ethernet, pretty sure dads other Mac in the studio (iMac) works just fine too.

I did boot it up about 1hr 20m's ago and it was working, buffered a TV show online to 24 minutes, I unplugged it and took it down to the bedroom and I started watching it and then the show stopped and said Buffering 43% but didn't change, it's currently back near the AEBS plugged in. It just seems to be the MBP, does anyone have any idea's? just let me know if there is any more information I can provide.

Macbook Wireless Internet Doesn't Work At Home

Mar 15, 2012

For some reason, my macbook's wireless internet doesn't work at home. It takes hours to load a simple page if it doesn't time out. Apple suggested a reformat, but it did not help.

Does anyone know how accurate the 2010 macbook pro wifi signal strength monitor is? There are times I have full bars but my internet is really slow, or stops working all together for a few minutes. I THINK, because I'm on a different floor than the router, which would explain reduced signal. BUT my computer says I have full bars.

2011 Macbook Pro Connects To Internet But Safari Doesn't Work

May 8, 2012

I am haveing and issue conencting. The probelm is when an ethernet connection is working Wifi is not, when Wifi is working ethernet is not. The issue is the netowrk control panel says Im always connected through wifi and ethernet 100% of the time but Safari or Firefox will not load a web page. It is strange because in Terminal I can ping any website. I'v restarted the router, the computer, I have even reloaded the OSX Lion. I have al the most up to date definitions. From a little bit of reasearch I see this is a ongoing issue and it is very frustrating. It is not a netowrk issue all my other devices work perfect when connected to wifi. 3 windows machines ipad iphone etc. Is the network card bad on the late 2011 macbooks?

My husband's internet connection is fine (we both have Macbooks and go through the same router) hence I'm able to send this out.
