IMac (Intel) :: Where Is Export Mail Option In OS X 10.6.8
Jun 30, 2014
Is it correct that there isn't an "export mail" option in 10.6.8 ?  Mail version 4.6
I have read various comments on forums about exporting mailboxes, sometimes there is mention of choose Export Mail but there has also been advice to copy the mailboxes to a usb then transfer to another computer.
I definitely don't have an Export Mail option available.. only Import and Copy. I would like Export tho .
1) How can I export a keychain list? When I look in the file menu in Keychain Access, I can see Import but Export is dimmed. I want to merge my keychains at home with my keychains at work.
2) When I use Keychain Access and click one of those checkboxes that says "Show password," it asks me for my login password. That is fine, but when I click another record in the keychain database, it asks me for it again. In other words, I have to keep typing in my password for each individual entry in Keychain Access. I do not require that much security.
3) Where are the passwords all kept? In these files?: com.apple.keychainaccess.plist and login.keychain. If some hacker got a hold of these files, is there a way they could get my passwords?
I have several iMacs in my office with Lion and Mail 5.1. I have a user who wants to View attachments as Icons to ensure all are attached prior to sending. Unlike all the other iMacs, hers does not have the option "View in Place" and "View as Icon" when she right-clicks on the attachment.
I have found in other posts that you cannot set a defaul to ensure Icons or View in Place will always occur, and that the default depends on the type and size of attachment. I am not sure of that logic, but she can't even choose on an individual email basis. How can those options be enabled?
I cleared out all files of Windows I had on my Mac before I did any research. Maybe I thought for some unknown reason that is how you fix the problem - obviously not.
FYI, I did go through the whole bootcamp installation, divided my hard drive, what have you. I cannot delete the BC partition through BC Assistant, the option box is greyed out. I cannot adjust the partition size through disk utility because the minus and plus buttons are greyed out as well.
I have decided to start using gmail and keeping my email online instead of stored locally in the Mail program.
I have all my old mail and sent mail downloaded locally in the Mail program.
Is there an easy way to export all of that into gmail? I see I can import mail into gmail from other mail accounts, but here I am talking about importing mail that is now stored locally.
I just bought a Mac and need to export my OE mail to Mac mail. The Apple store would not help me with this because they said it could not be done perfectly, therefore, they do not offer this service.
I have MSOutlook 2000 (not Express) and want to export my address book into Mac Mail. Outlook will export into a .pst file. Is this something Mac Mail will import? It will also export into "Comma separated values" if that helps.
I need to export all my addresses to work on a email blast, something like constant contact or ewebber. Is there a easy way to do this without copy and pasting each one?
Since migrating from Mobile Me to iCloud I have noticed that the signatures (of which I have a few) in Mac Mail do not sync to my other machines.how can I export my Mac Mail Signatures to another machine?
I have a lot of mail in Mail.app on my Mac, originally acquired from a POP account. I want to export it to an IMAP account so it is available on all my devices.
I try now to transfer all my mails with their categories to Outlook too but I don't succeed. I read some discussions on this forum but they are obsolete as they were with snowLeopard and Outlook 2011. Would someone have good news for me and find a way to transfer all the mails with their categories from Apple Mail to Outlook 2011 for Mac ?
Does anyone know how to do this? I know I can add the Previous Recipients to my Address Book, but I'd really love to get them into a text file the way it's listed, specifically in this case because of the Last Used date column. I found one post on the Apple forums with a way to do it via Terminal, but the steps weren't clear and I wasn't able to do it (I'm a complete dummy when it comes to Terminal and scripts and the like ).
I ran my usual check on the mac drive via "Verify Disk" option. It came up with "needs repair"...etc., and told me to repair it. I did a command r during boot so I could do a repair, and the software told me "your mac drive seems to be ok"??? Some kind of glitch, or need I worry about it at all?

Setting up my friend's computer email account and everything checks-out fine...but the send mail button and menu option are grayed out????SMTP server is set up the way it should be as are all other parameters....with this same parameters when I configure them on my Mac it works great...on his new iMac it doesn't.Any suggestions besides reinstalling Mail (BTW, is it posible to trash and install only Mail from the DVD's that come with the iMac?), reinstalling the system, etc.
I have an OS X 10.4.11 and since a few days, if I want to write an email, the whole page turns grey and it won't show me the "new mail" page, I can receive messages alright. Now what ?
Where is the setting in the Mail program to leave a copy of emails on the server? I can't find it, but I turned it off at one point, I need to turn it on now.
So I have a friend who doesn't really want to upgrade to lion, but has IOS iCloud capabilty on her iPhone and iPad.I have done the mobileme.com/move thing online for her mail only. Can I just activate icloud for her iPad and iPhone without having to do the online thing? Using the iCloud login thing in the settings on her devices?Â
I have problem with handling e-mail. It is hypothetical now but will become real when I do the switch. I work as a salesman and have .mac + 5 other POP e-mail accounts. Now we will have 2 or even 3 persons involved in receving and answering e-mails. IMAP solution is recommended. .mac is already on IMAP but other 5 accounts are not.My Internet/host provider told me that it is really easy to make a switch from POP to IMAP mail at their end but that I will that moment lose all e-mails and outgoing mails collected on my iMac. I have 39000 incoming mails on my iMac from last 5 years. As you can guess it is valuable commodity. Just few days ago I archived all mails (received and sent) older than 1000 days. That was fairly painless procedure.
how should I handle this problem with transition to IMAP without losing my valuable mails? Person at Internet hosting suggested to move mail operations to Zimbra mail that is copletely cloud oriented. As you can guess over the years I become acustomed to Mail and I am reluctant to change e-mail client now.

Mail is often very slow to get mail on my Imac. Much faster on phone. Sometimes I have to take it on and off line to get it to new mail. At times I have had to force quit the mail program and restart. Additionally, I often have to move the same mail several times to get it filed where I want. Are there fixes or is it time to move to another email client? I have used mac mail for many years and have thousands of emails filed.
I just switched from Mobile Me to gmail. No annual fee and I would have had to BUY A NEW MAC to update to the "cloud" at the end of the month (that is another story). Gmail will not "take" my contacts from mobile me, though i am following all the steps.Â
For a day or two a few weeks ago mail.app stopped working with my Gmail POP server so I setup the account again and it worked but now its using IMAP and has a very annoying [URL] section. How can I manually set up the account? Editing the info in the existing account doesnt work. I annotated some pictures to show the problem.
