View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a PNY 8gb Attache thumb drive that is not recognized by my 2010 27" I7 iMac. It does not show on the desktop, disk utility, finder or system profile. However, this thumb drive works on my MacBook, 2006 24" iMac and a Dell laptop running XP. I have 4 other drives (1-4gb) that work on all of our computers. Currently running Lion @ 10.7.3 but this problem existed on SL @ 10.6.8 also. I have tried this drive as a FAT-32 and Mac OS journaled and the 27" still will not recognize the drive.

I have an iMac desktop with OS X version 10.9.4 Mavericks operating system. Processor 2.06 core 2 duo Memory 4GB 1067 MHx startup disk hard drive.
Problem is I deleted some photos from my hard drive to free up space, thinking I could access them from my backup drive if I needed to. However, when I try to get the photos through my TimeMchine backup drive, it won't let me, saying it's not the original library. How do I access my old backed up photos?

Is it correct that there isn't an "export mail" option in 10.6.8 ? Mail version 4.6
I have read various comments on forums about exporting mailboxes, sometimes there is mention of choose Export Mail but there has also been advice to copy the mailboxes to a usb then transfer to another computer.
I definitely don't have an Export Mail option available.. only Import and Copy. I would like Export tho .

View 9 Replies View Relateddoes anybody know how I could export my manually ordered photos from an iPhoto album in a way that would make the output files have names like 1.jpg, 2.jpg... instead of the original ones, so my friends could see them in correct order when just viewing them in Windows Explorer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently running Mavericks 10.9.4 and iPhoto 8.1.2 on my MacBook.
I'm waaay behind on organizing my pictures unfortunately, so I haven't worked in iPhoto for a while. When I try to export pictures to the computer it "quits unexpectedly". Hmmm, maybe I should see if there's an update. OK, so the only option it gives me is to spend $14.99 for iPhoto 9.5.1?!?!?
No more free upgrades for something I already own?

I'm trying to install ubuntu from a thumb drive. Basically, I'm converting the .iso to an .img, and restore the thumb drive from the .img, trying to make it bootable. I'm following the procedure form the ubuntu website. Drag and Drop a file from Finder to Terminal to 'paste' the full path without typing and risking type errors.
Download the desired file
Open the Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities/ or query Terminal in Spotlight)
Convert the .iso file to .img using the convert option of hdiutil (e.g., hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/path/to/target.img ~/path/to/ubuntu.iso)
Note: OS X tends to put the .dmg ending on the output file automatically.
Run diskutil list to get the current list of devices
Insert your flash media
Run diskutil list again and determine the device node assigned to your flash media (e.g. /dev/disk2)
Run diskutil unmountDisk /dev/diskN (replace N with the disk number from the last command; in the previous example, N would be 2)
Execute sudo dd if=/path/to/downloaded.img of=/dev/rdiskN bs=1m (replace /path/to/downloaded.img with the path where the image file is located; for example, ./ubuntu.img or ./ubuntu.dmg).
Using /dev/rdisk instead of /dev/disk may be faster.
If you see the error dd: Invalid number '1m', you are using GNU dd. Use the same command but replace bs=1m with bs=1M.
If you see the error dd: /dev/diskN: Resource busy, make sure the disk is not in use. Start the 'Disk Utility.app' and unmount (don't eject) the drive.
Run diskutil eject/dev/diskN and remove your flash media when the command completes
Restart your Mac and press alt while the Mac is restarting to choose the USB-Stick
Everything goes through fine, except, when I restart my mac to see the boot options. All I see is Macintosh HD
