I just bought a $107 (au) wireless keyboard for my 24 inch 3.06 GHZ last gen iMac and upon installing it the Wi-Fi has been dropping out randomly. I checked bluetooth update and software update and it is all up to date. What do i do?
View 7 RepliesI bought a new i7 iMac about two months ago and love it but the Bluetooth keyboard it came with recently started acting up. It randomly disconnects and when it does it will type whatever letter I last hit on the keyboard repeatly.
View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently, I've been having an issue where neither my Apple bluetooth Keyboard or Magic Trackpad pair automatically with the iMac at my password login screen. This forces me to hold down the power button and force a restart of the machine. Both accessories have plenty of battery power and pair fine after restarting. In a related problem, sometimes neither accessory will wake the iMac from sleep and I suspect it's because the bluetooth is dropping connection while asleep, thus making it impossible to wake up the iMac. Corrupt bluetooth .plist file? Or, could there be a problem with the iMac's built in bluetooth?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Linksys WRT610N with the latest firmware worked fantastically on multiple Windows 7-based ThinkPad. However, three (3) different iMac's have had the very same problem of dropping the connection and of my having to powercycle both my cable modem and the W610 router for it to work again at all! Once it drops the active connection, that's it. I have tried a few different settings and nothing has made a difference.
Can you maybe help point me in the right direction or should I just ditch it for an AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule? One additional point: It works worst in the 5GHz frequency band, even though there are none in my neighborhood, and if there are, they have their SSID's (network name) hidden. The 2.4GHz band is extremely crowded where I am which makes it difficult to enjoy my WiFi connection.
Ever since I installed to 10.6.1, I have been having issues with WiFi.
I'm only getting 3 bars, and my iMac is sitting less then a foot away from my AEBS, on 10.6 I was getting 4, also I've been dropping my WiFi connection every hour or so, and I have to turn AirPort in on my iMac off and turn AirPort back on.
This is really annoying and I don't know what to do, anyone have any ideas?
I've already reset my AEBS twice and that hasn't worked.
I had the problem of continual disruption of my wifi connection. I eventually tracked down the source of this problem to interference with the wifi signal from the bluetooth wireless keyboard.
When I turned bluetooth off, the wifi is solid and no disconnection, as soon as I turn it on again and use the wireless peripherals it starts to cut off the wifi at various times. To begin with it became so bad it was cutting the wifi every 5 seconds.
I thought I had solved the problem by accessing the wireless router and changing the signal number, you know 1 through 13 or so.
Randomly, my computer seems to be disconnected from my wi-fi network. It is not a routeur problem since every other devices still work when the computer doesn't.

My brand new imac randomly disconnects from the internet. We have a BT hub - wifi. I have googled this issue and see that it is relatively common and it is incredibly frustrating. It is fairly simple to reconnect each time but it is driving me mad having to. It generally happens when the computer is asleep but sometimes in the middle of doing something.

I have full Wifi signal and I'm using multiple device on my Wifi which are all stable except the iMAC. We had a power failure a couple of weeks ago and since then the iMac just won't stay on the network. I have to turn wifi of and then back on to get it to join and that mitt lat 10 minutes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI currently use the apple bluetooth keyboard with my mac mini setup. It is not on a desk but I use they keyboard in my lap because the mini is hooked to the tv. All I can hear when using it is the battery's rattling around inside the holding tube. Is this normal? If not Im definetly going to the store and have it replaced.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy problem is I keep loosing 'Internet' signal on my network, the network still runs fine and all computers (macbook, imac and macbook pro) are still connected to the network and can still transfer files but there is no internet connection. Im not 100% sure but this seems to happen once more than one computer is on the network at once. It happens randomly and their seems to be no real sequence or pattern as to when it happens.
I was adviced to change the ports on my router from 11 to say 6 or others, this didnt seem to help, and i have since thought as my imac is hard wired with an ethernet cable this wouldn't effect this computer as it is not connected over wireless but this computer IS still affected.
I have tried numerous hard resets and fimrware updates etc but no joy, the router i'm using is a Belkin URL
All my wireless Bluetooth devices keep dropping off .Do I need to replace a Bluetooth board or item in my 2009 MacPro? What should I order?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo after upgrading to a mbp as my main machine, I retired my old imac to the bedroom for media center duty. I've got things close to how I want them with front row and plex doing most of the dirty work. For my planned use, no keyboard or mouse are needed. A combo of the apple remote and snatch on my itouch are doing quite well. The problem is, if I turn the machine off, it sees no mouse or keyboard over usb, and attempts to find them over bluetooth. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this? I've tried just turning bluetooth off before shutdown, but this doesn't seem to solve it. This is REALLY annoying, as I'd prefer to keep the machine off more often rather than having is sleep all the time.

when i click the bluetooth symbol in the top theres not even a bluetooth option in my system preferences folder.
I've been trying to get Windows 7 (under Boot Camp) to recognize my Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Mouse, and for some reason it's not working. I first tried it with the drivers that come on the disc, and those didn't work (found the mouse/keyboard but wouldn't work), then I tried the Bluetooth update that Apple released, and that didn't work either. The mouse and keyboard show up in the Bluetooth devices as 'Connected', but neither work.
When I restart the computer the mouse/keyboard work at the login screen, but once I login they stop working. If I boot into Mac OS, and then boot back into Windows, they work fully, but after about 5 minutes they stop working. Why is this happening? Did anyone else have this problem?
Installed a new bluetooth keyboard today. Now my volume controls and other features on the F1 - F12 Keys do not work.Went into Keyboard Preferences and selected and deselected the [ ] Use All F1, F2, F3 keys as standard function keys. Regardless of the setting, the volume controls do not work. Even when holding down the [Fn] Key. I can adjust volume with the mouse ( new Magic Mouse ) using the control on the menu bar.

The iMac's hard drive had just been fixed by a shop and the OS re-installed. To my surprise I didn't need to do anything to get it to recognize both bluetooth keyboard and mouse - it just worked! Wow.
Until yesterday. I took out the keyboard batteries, charged them, and put them back in.
Now I get the login prompt where I have to enter a password. The only problem is, I can't enter a password without a keyboard! And it doesn't recognize the keyboard.
I tested the keyboard with my MacBook Pro - it works just fine. So I believe that somehow the iMac thinks it's still paired with the keyboard, while the keyboard knows nothing about this. And between those two things it doesn't work.
I restarted multiple times, and tried to start from another partition by holding down option - the problem is the iMac doesn't recognize the keyboard at startup either.
My bluetooth used to work perfectly fine. Then one day my keyboard wasn't connected. I changed the batteries. But the Bluetooth icon kept saying that it was not available. I went into my settings and it all looks chinese to me. My keyboard isn't connecting at all.

Is anyone else having problems with SL dropping your wireless connections. I've never had any problems with Leopard and my home wireless network but SL has dropped my connection numerous times since I did my install. The only way to recover seems to be to reboot my computer.

Since I updated my Macbook pro to 10.7.4 my Wi-Fi connection is dropping out every 10 / 15 minutes, then I disable and enable and back to normal, a thousand times each day since last Saturday, it is boring!
I called Apple Support today, and we spent all morning trying to correct with some procedures, but nothing worked.
Connection can drop at any time. In same roon the iPhone stys connected as does printer and PC laptop?

I work for a business that sells a lot of computers, Macs specifically. We've got a wi-fi network in our building; however, the network constantly drops out. Despite our pleas to IT, they will not fix the issue. Our demo computers that customers can play with and consider purchasing often lose Internet access because of this. Whenever this happens, I have to manually turn the Airport off and then back on again, which will get it to reconnect. Does anybody know of a way to have the computer automatically do this every so often?
