My mail icon on the sidebar has a red circle with #'s in it even though I have read all of the mail. How do I get rid of it so it only turns up red when I have new mail?

Since then the number of unread messages shows up on the mail icon only all messages have been read. How do I get rid of the number icon? We had this problem once before when we upgraded our system but I don't remember how we got rid of it.

Just a couple days ago keep in dock no longer works. Rebooting resets everything. I tried deleting the preferences file for dock, no luck. Same problem. I tried restoring it from an earlier time. No luck. Still does not work. I am using the latest versions of everything. Oh, and yes I use and have tried and checked antivirus programs. No virus. I've tried removing them. Still doesn't work.

I have just installed Maverick. When I use Safari and try and open a Pdf file from a webpage I get a black screen and tells me to download Adobe. I have reinstalled adobe reader but still don't get anywhere. I can open any pdf files I have previously stored or have in downloads or in documents.

I have a Macbook Pro. It has OS 10.4 The mail program will open and the circle will start spinning like it is trying to "get mail." it will spin and spin and eventually close. It will pop up and say mail quit unexpectedly will show that report and reopen box. hen mail is open and the circle is spinning, you can send mail and it works fine. It just will not load new mail.aNy ideas? The mail is version 2.1.3

i tried several things like zapping the PRAM, open firmware, and taking out RAM. also took out my pci wireless card and usb card. nothing helped, but eventually it booted up. i thought that the hard drive was probably dead but i couldnt boot off a tiger install disc when i tried.its been having problems starting up everyday since then. sometimes it will boot with the circle spinning and just stay there. other times it will boot with some junk on the screen and the restart message underneath, boot up with no spinning circle, or have the apple change to a circle with a slash through it

I am a pretty experienced Mac user but have never ran into this problem. My iDisk icon in the sidebar of the Finder window doesn't have an eject button. Any disk or other removable drive gives me the eject button but not the iDisk. I am running on the latest version of Tiger (10.4.5) and a 12" 1.25GHz iBook G4 with 1.25GB Ram. I know those stats really don't make a difference, except for maybe the OS, but just in case anyone was wondering.

Why doesn't the little number disappear after I try to update and get told I don't have the right OS? View 8 Replies View RelatedI first noticed this red circle with a 1 in it and understood from scanning the Discussion pages that it referred to an update pending for one of my downloaded apps. Sure enough, this was the case and I updated the app. However, the red circle is still there with a 1 in it. If I open the app store, the number disappears from the icon, but once I close the app store, the red circle comes back, still with a 1 in it. I have only ever downloaded three apps and none of them are for online games, which I gather can cause the appearance of such a red circle. how to get rid of it?

My reason for asking is that 4 months ago my sisters G5 17" logic board supposedly got replaced with a new or refurbished logic board but it seems by the workmanship of the board something fishy is going on.
My Mac wont log on. I just get the apple symbol and the wheel eventually it goes to a circle with a diagonal line through it.
I know this is bad, I have tried starting with the shift key held down but no good.
