View 1 RepliesI have tried the "dscacheutil -cachedump -entries Host" terminal command but it just comes back with "-bash: dscacheutil: command not found". Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or if there is a different command to use? I have a Mac laptop if that means anything, it's about 1.5 years old!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a list of webpages viewed by my kids while private browsing is enabled. Is this possible? Also, any way I can turn off private browsing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt appears as though there may be some suspicious activity occurring on the family computer. Firstly, "private browsing", "reset safari" and "empty cache" all appear under the edit menu in safari. I don't recall having seen them earlier, does this mean they have been recently used or is it part of the standard menu? Also, in the internet history whilst no webpages can be found there are some obscene jpegs. Images found in the internet history, have they been deliberately viewed or is it possible that they find their way there behind the scenes?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI usually use the private browsing feature on safari but sometimes when I google something it shows near the searches how many visits I've made and when, even when Ive used private browsing. how do i cleat this kind of history?

When preview opens it has a list of the last 10 things I had open with it.
However, I do not want to ever see anything I have ever opened and the list is bothersome to my OCD.
How do I disable this "feature" as I do with all other programs?
Is my only option to set the default program for images, PDFs and everything else to another program that allows me to disable the history?

I recently had my iMac repaired independently, with upgrade to Mavericks from Lion. I am trying to discover if my Apple purchases/upgrades have been recorded online seeing as of today I cannot find my printed Apple receipts or access much of the information/data which was not correctly migrated to my iMac. I would like to recover iDVD if possible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore Yosemite I never had a problem with using Private Browsing window in Safari - now it seems to be designed to log you out as much as possible- but that's another question..I'm having is that private windows block the top of the screen so it's impossible to login to certain web sites (PayPal, Facebook..), basically any site who's login is at the very top of the screen. It will work just fine in regular safari window.

I use safari on my imac. I was able to access a shared link (to access a briefcase) via a university website. It requires me to enter ID and password to access the briefcase. It also requires me to enter my ID and password whenever I click a new file in the briefcase. The shared link was okay until I let Safari remember my password. Now when I click the shared link, it says "Error 404! No such item". I am not able to access that shared link.
I tried to log on my imac with another user/account, and found out that the shared link is still working. I also tried to use my macbook and the link is working as well. So i guess that it must be something wrong when I let Safari remember my password the first time when I accessed that link. I have done Safari Reset and cleared all history, cookies, passwords, etc... but I am still not able to access that link under my own account.

Appstore automatically updated Safari to 8.0.2 this morning, but now I can't access the program. When I start Safari it takes a while to get going, a window opens for a moment with a spinning wheel and then the program crashes. I'm using a mid 2007 20" IMac (2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4GB of memoryrunning Yosemite.
The system error report which gets sent to Apple makes no sense to me, as I don't have any technical knowledge, but scrolling through the report I found this section which refers to something crashing,.

How can I repair that.
I have an iMac desktop with OS X version 10.9.4 Mavericks operating system. Processor 2.06 core 2 duo Memory 4GB 1067 MHx startup disk hard drive.
Problem is I deleted some photos from my hard drive to free up space, thinking I could access them from my backup drive if I needed to. However, when I try to get the photos through my TimeMchine backup drive, it won't let me, saying it's not the original library. How do I access my old backed up photos?
I cannot look at any website that has a lot of photos for too long without the mac locking up. I have tried Google chrome with the same results as Safari. I looked on the forums and saw a flush cache command through terminal and tried that with no luck. I don't know if there is anything like the windows task manager to just kill the one app without rebooting.

my imac duo core, 2ghz, 2gig ram started slowing down a few months ago. it is connected by airport extreme router. the airport signal shows half of what it used to be but nothing has changed from before. if fact i brought my macbook pro right next to it and that has full strength and fast browsing. speed tests at the same site shows 400kbs-800kbs for the i mac, and over 2mbs for the macbook pro. in the same location and 30 seconds apart. both are running os 10.5.6

When I wanted to fix the problem I probably made a mistake and changed the access settings of some files (finally even hard disk's settings). After this action my iMac doesn't start (the screen is white with the apple logo and nothing happens). Is there anybody who knows what to do now?

Purchased myself a 27" iMac from Apple about a week ago. Everything is all good and fine - except my private browsing on Safari doesn't seem to work.It works fine on my Macbook, but for some reason on my iMac, when I turn it on, it works - but then when the computer restarts and is used again, it's turned off
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with Browsers. I rotate between Safari, Aurora, and Chrome. But all three of them eventually choke of resources and hog the cpu. Sometimes quitting the broswer works but most of the time, I reboot of OS X is needed to clean up the resource logjam. My practice of using a lot of windows and tabs is at least part of it. But if varys on different days. Thist week began a new bothersome and worrisome behavior that has malware fingerprints. Sometimes when I click on a link on a window that is "normal" size (say 60% height and 60% width of screen), a full screen pops up over everything and something I didn't ask for shows up. There are several cases of what shows up.
1. Some times it is a window that advises me to clean up my Mac offering a tool to do that (I've seen this offer all the time but I cannot recall which one it is but it is very common--I think the thing that was offered was Mac Keeper about which I have heard bad things so I avoid it. It appears to have a foot hold on my system). clock the red close button on the window (or Cmd-W) and it disappears and the window it came from reappears and is functional. I can no click the same link I had used before and now it works. Sometimes, but not always, later windows as I navigate do the same thing.
2. Today, when I went to URL.../support and clicked on discussions, a full scren window popped up with the URL.....or some other thing - I've only captured the two URLs. If I close that popped up window
