OK I'm still a newb here, so I have a HP printer that I am getting rid of, I want to get rid of the software and printer on the MacMini. How do I go about doing this? The printer I bought is a Cannon so I don't need the HP stuff anymore.
View 2 RepliesI have a macbook and I wanted to install my old Lexmark 4300 series printer to it. It wouldn't work with Leopard but it did work for Tiger. So I put the Mac OS X install disc in and did the optional installation, but instead of installing just the lexmark drivers I accidentally installed all of the printer drivers. I want to get rid of all of them but don't know how. I can't find them under applications or the hard drive. I can only pull them up when choosing a driver out of the driver menu when hooking up the printer.

If I understand correctly I click and drag my current HP printer file/icon to the trash and then search for additional files using applef to delete the rest. Is this right? Am I missing any other crucial steps? If the brand is the same do I need to remove the additional files?
Also and this may be a stupid question, but how do i make sure that my computer does not recognize the old printer for my wireless network when I set up my new one?
When i click on the uninstaller this message pops up "you can't open the application HP uninstaller because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I no longer have this printer so I want this software uninstalled.

In the office where I work with my Mac there's a Canon copier/scanner model iR2318. Months ago I downloaded and installed the Lion compatible drivers required that worked fine. Yesterday (with no reason, no changes, nothing at all: just working) the printer started to refuse to print as it asked for a different paper format: A4 or Letter. Despite many attempts to specifically send print jobs in A4, which is the paper format loaded in the tray, the printer continued to refuse all prints.Today I ended up removing the printer from the list, as it became unnecessary, and I also liked to uninstall the printer driver as well, since Canon released a newer version.Currently, when trying to reinstall the printer, 2 drivers are displayed: UK and US. This lets me assume that those 2 drivers are still installed in my system: I wanted to remove both of them and start from scratch by reinstall the driver and he printer as the system was new. How can I remove the driver, so that Lion won't recognize it and that I could make a clean install of the previous working printer?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got 3 G5 iMacs, one with a USB printer attached. I can share the printer and add it on the other iMacs and print to it no problem, but when I restart them the printer is no longer in the list and I have to add it again.
This is becoming a pain, and with the old eMacs I had never had this problem. They are all on 10.4.11, am I doing something wrong?
Is anyone still using a dot matrix / impact printer on a current or recent-era Mac? I've a need to use one for some multi-part stationery and plan on attaching it to an Intel iMac with MacOS 10.6. As it's currently attached to a grey-box G3 (which had the old 8 pin MiniDin serial socket) I'd hope that the Keyspan USB adaptor would link the old to the new, but whether anyones recently gone down this route or now, I'd like to hear from you? ?Drivers concern me, but hope also that Imagewriter drivers or a generic printer driver will suffice?

View 1 Replies View RelatedGot a iMac running OS 10.6, and am wanting to print from a Samsung ML-1710P printer connected via serial port to a XP PC. Everything seems to all be communicating with each other, except I eventually get a print error on the XP machine in the print manager. Can anyone help with this?
Notes:
- the computer and printer can be seen by the mac.
- when a print job is sent, the mac spools and sends it "ok"
- the XP print manager status changes to "printing" then after about 1 min changes to an error.
- the latest driver for that printer is installed on the XP machine.
- I have tried to use the Generic Postscript Printer driver, the Generic PCL Laser Printer driver and an old Mac OS10.3 driver from the Mac end. There are no newer drivers available. I have shared this successfully printer before, but only from another windows machine.
I have a brand new iMac. But I can't print because it won't find my HP photosmart wireless printer (B110 series) My old Macbook pro 10.6.8 has no problem. I've tried switching on and off etc all to no avail. When I click to add a printer, nothing is found. The only thing that I've not tried is connecting with an ethernet cable, but I shouldn't have to. The printer is next to the computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSuddenly, my HP Photosmart 7525 isn't recognized by my (wife's) iMac. Ny iMac prints to it wirelessly just fine. I downloaded the printer driver (several time), loaded it and the iMac reverted to the HP Utility to finalized the process. The utility couldn't recognized the "device" to finish off the driver. Same thing when I loaded the Photosmart 6525 (my printer). The iMac apparently isn't loading the drivers. It worked fine a day or two ago, now, nada. WiFi works fine thru the AirPort/TimeCapsule module/router. The printer wifi works with other computers.

My Mac and HP wireless printer have stopped communicating. My Mac says the printer is not connected to the network but the printer says it is. I am running 10.9.4 on my Mac. They worked fine for 3 years then they just stopped. I have reset everything on the printer and gone through all the wireless checks on my Mac. The only thing I have seen is one screen said the address was wrong, but that does not make sense since they work in the same network.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HP 8000 hooked up with a USB cable. I've tried disconnecting everything, restarting, trying different ports, nothing is working. I also tried resetting the print system in system prefs, reinstalling the drivers as well. When I try to print the printer just sits there. Its always stuck on sending print data. I don't use this printer often but it used to work and I would get this problem once or twice every few months. I solved it just by restarting but now it wont go away.

Both printers, HP laserjet p1606dn and Epson artisian 700 worked fine until I tried to setup airprint (couldn't figure that out). Now I can't print anything, not even a test page, from either printer. I receive a print error- "Unable to send printer command! Unsupported document-format "application/vnd.cups-command". I can scan from the Epson without a problem. I can run utility tasks, clean print heads, run print head alignment etc. But I can't print.

I can't install a printer on my iMac. When I go through system prefs, add printer, it sees the printer and manages to make it to looking for installable options then that window just hangs. I can use the computer, but the window stays and it never actually installs the drivers, i'm using a wireless connection. The same thing happened before with a previous Epson printer connecting by USB. In the end I managed to connect it to my Macbook.
