OS X Mavericks :: IMac 10.9.3 Won't Find Wireless Printer
Jun 24, 2014
I have a brand new iMac. But I can't print because it won't find my HP photosmart wireless printer (B110 series) My old Macbook pro 10.6.8 has no problem. I've tried switching on and off etc all to no avail. When I click to add a printer, nothing is found. The only thing that I've not tried is connecting with an ethernet cable, but I shouldn't have to. The printer is next to the computer.

Suddenly, my HP Photosmart 7525 isn't recognized by my (wife's) iMac. Ny iMac prints to it wirelessly just fine. I downloaded the printer driver (several time), loaded it and the iMac reverted to the HP Utility to finalized the process. The utility couldn't recognized the "device" to finish off the driver. Same thing when I loaded the Photosmart 6525 (my printer). The iMac apparently isn't loading the drivers. It worked fine a day or two ago, now, nada. WiFi works fine thru the AirPort/TimeCapsule module/router. The printer wifi works with other computers.Â

I've been trying all day to get my new wireless printer to find my wireless network. No joy.
I have an airport extreme router connected to an AT&T 2WIRE modem. The guys that installed the AT&T stuff recently said I normally wouldn't need the airport extreme because the 2WIRE serves as both modem and router, however it does not work with an airport express, which I have in another room to boost the signal. So when the printer looks for the (SSID) network, it sees my apple network, which is what my macbook and windows vista laptops also see and connect to. After that, I'm entering the wireless network key from the 2WIRE.

I have a deskjet 3050a that is installed on my 10.6.8 macbook pro, which is up-to-date on it's software.Â
I can ping the printer from my router, so I know it is on the network. I cannot, however, ping it from my mac. Sometimes, I can reboot the printer and then I'll see it from my mac and, other times, that doesn't work.Â
I've tried editing the hosts file, but that didn't work. I've tried setting the IP on the printer to a static, but that didn't workÂ

IMac, running Mavericks, connected to a wireless network. Using a Brother MFC-J6710 printer, connected wirelessly.
Recently moved printer and computer and am connected wirelessly. This worked intermittently. I started over, reset the wireless on the printer, and got a network report that says that the printer is connected to the wireless network.
On my Mac, I have reinstalled the Cups driver, Twain driver, and wireless setup wizard. When I go into the System Preferences>Printers, and try to add the printer, the printer does not show up in the list, so there is no evidence of the printer on my Mac. Similarly, I cannot see this printer on the wireless network from my IPhone either.

I've a Macrbook Pro running Mavericks. My printer is an HP C6180. Prior to upgrading to Mavericks from Lion, I had no issues printing wirelessly. I upgraded to Mavericks and I'm unable to print to the printer through wireless. If I connect the printer to the Macbook via USB it works fine. I connected it through USB and ran Software Update. An update for the HP driver was found and installed. I'm still unable to print wirelessly. Both Macbook Pro and printer are on the same wireless network. Nothing has changed with the wireless network. The only thing new is the upgrade to Mavericks from Lion.Â
I found a similar post Unable to Connect to Printer HP Photosmart C6180 which indicated deleting the /Library/Printers/hp folder, restarting, and then reinstalling the the drivers using software update worked. I did that as well with no luck.Â
When I try to add the printer it's just not in the list of printers available. Â

My Mac and HP wireless printer have stopped communicating. My Mac says the printer is not connected to the network but the printer says it is. I am running 10.9.4 on my Mac. They worked fine for 3 years then they just stopped. I have reset everything on the printer and gone through all the wireless checks on my Mac. The only thing I have seen is one screen said the address was wrong, but that does not make sense since they work in the same network.

I have OSX 10.6 installed and I currently have my broadband connected by Ethernet connection. Airport seems to connect to my wireless router even though this is plugged in. HPSETUP appears as a device in the WI-FI drop down, however to print I need to select this from the dropdown. Can my iMac's wifi connect to this by default rather than my broadband connection?

I just bought an iMac. my husband bought a Dell XPS 2730. Of course, we discovered that we could not both connect to our old printer without some very technical stuff beyond our ken. So we bought a new wifi direct Brother printer,I can't even see the printer from my iMac. I have downloaded the latest drivers for it from Apple. The printer is all set up and can see my iMac.Â

I've seen previous discussions regarding problems installing a Dell printer. I have a Dell 962 wireless printer. I did find the compatible Mac driver R92834 and I did install the driver. However, when I try to add the printer, I can't find the printer in the drop down list. Am I supposed to be looking for a Lexmark printer? If so, I have no idea what model is equivalent to the Dell 962 AIO. The model sticker is 4409-0d1. A search for this model returns nothing. I'm a newbie with Macs. OS is 10.4.3. Got any ideas?

I got a new HP wireless printer, and the mac suggested setting it up with the USB first, and then disconnecting once it was configured. I did all that. The mac asked to choose a wireless network for the printer, I did. Then the set up CD asked me to add a printer to the qeue from system preferences from the menu- when I clicked my printer was already added. None the less I followed the direction, and then got the message "You already have a similar printer set up, would you like to add this too?" I clicked YES, and then continue.
When I clicked on continue, the set up cd (or mac) told me that I had NOT set up a printer from the Queue (sorry about spelling), even though I had. So when I clicked continue, it told me the printer was not recognized in the wireless network, and now I'm stuck with plugging it in the usb. Please I know this sounds confusing, but why is this happening and what do I do to get the mac to recognize my printer? Apparently its not.My wireless signal is fine, I checked.

I wish to install again my Epson driver.
I went to the Printer control panel as shown in the attached picture.
I can't figure out what is my IP for the printer, and how to convince my system to show the printer list to enable me to choose it?

We have 4 Macs in the office and a bank of 4 printers all of which have been working great and connecting together for a while with no issues. However in the last few days the iMac can't find 2 of the printers. We tried to reload them through Print and Scan preferences but they didn't appear in the preferences. Checked all the cabling and hub and everything seems OK. Booted the iMac in Safe Mode and it could see them both straight away, rebooted the iMac and again they did not appear in the list, Tried to share one of the printers from a MacPro and it appeared in the list however sometimes it just won't print to it, it seems to print but nothing appears at the printer. Since then we have reinstalled Mavericks, Verified and Repaired Permissions, Verified the HD, reset the PRAM, all to no avail.
Apart from that the iMac prints to the other printers on the network without any problem and connects to the other Macs with no problems as well. We're using 10.9.4 on a 2.7GHz iMac with 8GB of memory. The other Macs can all see and print to all the printers. We are using a wired ethernet connection, not wireless.Â

My Brother HL-3040CN printer only has an ethernet connector for network printing (as well as a usb port). If I wish to print wirelessly is there an adaptor or a wireless hub that I can plug it into with the cable?
I'm asking this because I've read the iPad doesn't have any means of connecting it to a printer with a cable. I won't buy an iPad now but maybe next year.
EDIT: Would an Airport Express do the job?

Could anyone recommend me a good wireless printer that is Mac and PC compatible?
And I know iOS 4.2 isn't out yet, but I'm guessing any wireless printer that works with Mac will also work with "AirPrint"?

I have an eMac 1Ghz with 10.3.9 on it and I just bought a new Lexmark Wi-Fi Printer. I have no Extreme card, just a Netgear Wired/Wireless router that's obviously connected to my eMac via CAT5 cable. I set up the printer for wireless, hoping my eMac would use the router as a card-substitute type deal. Well it doesn't. Cannot connect as if it were not there.

I purchased the Samsung SCX-4500 Laser Printer, and I want to makie it a wireless printer. I am wondering where to purchase a USB Wireless Printer Adapter that would plug into the printer, and how would I set it up. Note: It wont be connected to a wireless router, I want to connect a USB Wireless Adapter to the printer instead. Am I suppose to be looking for a bluetooth adapter for the printer, and any bluetooth USB adapter work?

As compensation for some recent damage than an Apple tech caused to my Windows 7 Ultimate disc, Apple has agreed to give me $200 credit, plus a free Magic Mouse.
I have decided that I want to use that money for a wireless printer. I have narrowed it down to two choices.
Which of these two printers do you think is best/fastest/most functional? Please provide reasons.

I have an hp photosmart 4200 that is plugged into an airport base station.
One problem though... When I scan something I have to break out my laptop and plug it into the printer directly to get the scan. The printer, as far as I can tell won't send out the scan via the airport.
If I buy the new photosmart with wifi & Bluetooth and put it in the other room will it send my scans to my iMac in the other room?
Sounds like it should but I've yet to see that work.
