OS X :: IMac Can't Load Too Many Images On Desktop?
Nov 7, 2010I was using adobe final cut and I exported an flv movie and it put every single frame from the movie all on my desktop. Now the minute it loads it jams finder and I get a beachball that will never end.
I need Ti delete all these images but can get to that point before it freezes. I'm totally stuck, any ideas?? I have a proposal to finish tonight and I'm losing my mind.

IMac :: Wireless Keyboard Sharp Edges Scratch Magic Mouse?
Dec 29, 2010I got my new iMac. It's beautiful, but the wireless keyboard has sharp edges. It easily scratches the aluminum finish on the magic mouse bottom, and the plastic on the top. Obviously the answer is "don't hit bump your mouse into your keyboard"... but with the 27" screen... you have to move the mouse A LOT to get your expose' corners working! Other than that, works well.
Side note: exceptionally impressed with parallels 6 -- but I gave it 2 cores and 6gb of RAM.
I can remote desktop into it with my macbook pro and do some quick coding in Visual Studio - nice. To setup remote desktop in parallels 6 -- you need to go to Virtual Machine.. Configure..Network... change it to shared connection with Airport.

I phoned apple who told me to do the following:
Turn off the imac.
Hold down ALT, CMD, and R, and then hold the power button.
Then still holding ALT, CMD, and R press the P key.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Dual Monitors Desktop Images Load To Left
Jun 27, 2012Ever since I upgraded to Lion from 10.6.7 a couple of weeks ago and then up to 10.7.4, one desktop picture appears off to the left and a little high. The other picture is a no-show. I have an 2010 27 iMac with a Dell 30" u3011 as a 2nd display, using an Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter. The Dell's on the left set up vertically with the menu bar. The iMac on the right is horizontal. On startup, the iMac's desktop image aligns to the Dell's left side, runs across the top half of the Dell and ends a little onto the iMac.
The image gets cropped at the top. The Dell's image doesn't appear at all. I'm guessing it is offstage to the left? Where the iMac's image does not reach is a light gray, something a bit darker the Solid Gray Light. Everything functions fine: mouse, Finder, apps, but, still, what gives?? No monitor issues before Lion. The only fix I've found is temporary until the next restart or startup.I change the screen resolution and then change it back. Occasionally, this fix has survived a couple shut downs or restarts.
What I've also tried: Resetting the PRAM and the unplugging everything for 2 minutes trick. No good. I was using personal .png images. I shifted back to the default galaxy shot. I tried putting the menu bar on the iMac. I tried the other user account which is barebones and seldom used. nope. Several times, I deleted com.apple.desktop.plistcom.apple.desktop.plist.lockfilecom.apple.preference.desktopscreeneffect.plist Problem recurred right away. I typed killall Dock in Terminal. This worked to restore the desktop images right away, but the problem recurred on startup.

IMac :: Send Stereo High Quality Audio Over Bluetooth To Some Sort Of Receiver?
Feb 3, 2009A couple of years ago when I got a tv for my room, my dad built a rack of shelves into the wall, one for my tv, one for my stereo and one for random stuff. It's always been nice, but restricting. I like to move my room around, and My desk is forced to stay right next to that rack to transmit audio to my receiver via a hard wire. Seeing as my iMac has bluetooth built in, I was wondering if it is at all possible to send stereo high quality audio over bluetooth to some sort of receiver that would feed into two RCA plugs... Now, I'm not talking audiophile quality, this is just a $400 sony rig, no crown audio here, but I dont want it to sound like those old 900mhz wireless headphones with all the interference. Is this at all possible? Or am I doomed to either staying put, or running 5' of cable under my carpet?

Sep 6, 2010I understand these machines burn images into screens sometimes, but they fade back to normal after a while. My issue is that its taking less and less time to burn images into my screen. It's so bad, I avoid using the left side of the screen because simply leaving anything there for a full minute burns the crap out of it. Oddly, this only effects the left third of the screen.
I remember taking it up to an apple store (not fun, considering none are near me. The address their tech support gave me actually went to a pawn shop.) but they simply told me to leave the itunes visualizer running every now and then.
Back then it was just mildly irritating. Now I cant do anything with that side of the screen! Would replacing the LCD resolve this issue?

May 24, 2006I've been ghosting here for months, eagerly awaiting the new MacBook with all of you. I now own one (as of Monday morning) and am loving it, except for one thing -- the sharp edges that cut into my wrists while I type! I've read various threads with complaints about this, but haven't seen any suggestions for fixing it (sorry if I missed postings about this elsewhere). My two ideas are either to sand down the edges until they're rounded and smooth, or put something on it (a piece of cloth? glue?)

Feb 27, 2012Not too long ago I've bought myself a Macbook Pro 15 inch (version 10.7.3) and with it I also got myself a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (by Moshi).After I got those I also got myself a HDMI-cable to connect my MBP to my Samsung tv (1080p full HD). After getting the 2 connected and inserting the right variables (resolution to 1080p)(frequency to 60 hz), also tried to change the settings of the TV itselft but the screen is just VERY blurry, not sharp at all. Â

May 6, 2008When I receive a jpg (not a jpeg) from a mac via email it wont open in either outlook or picture viewer etc (win xp). But if the same image is sent to any other PC (from the ma user) it opens OK.The added twist. If another pc user opens (which it does with no issues) then closes and sends back to the failing pc it opens with no issues!
MacBook Air :: Sharp Edge - This Is Unacceptable
Feb 28, 2008I've seen various posts about the sharp edge on the front of the MBA keyboard. Although I think the MBA is fantastic in every other respect, I find this "design flaw" to be a real irritation, and can't imagine how it got through Apple's meticulous product testing process.
In my office I normally wear long-sleeved shirts, so the sharp edge doesn't present much of a problem, but on a long flight recently, my lower forearms were literally chafed after a 2-hour session with the MBA. I find it uncomfortable to rest my wrists on the keyboard for even a few minutes.
Mac :: Remedy The Macbook Pro Sharp Edges
Sep 18, 2009I just bought a new MacBook Pro 15" a few days ago. I am completely in love with just about every aspect of it except for one pesky thing -- the edges of the aluminum unibody are ridiculously sharp and dig into my wrists after prolonged use. I seriously don't know how this feature ever got passed Apple's design team and the user test trials. Anyway, I've seen some similar posts about this but no one seems to give any good solutions. My question is - does anyone know of any good accessory products (wrist rests, etc...) that would remedy this? The ones I've seen just seem to be palm rest protectors and don't address the actual edges of the computer. Or, does anyone have any ideas for home remedies? I thought of maybe buying some moleskin or foam and applying it over the edge but that would prove to be quite unsightly I'm sure.

Apr 3, 2009I have an Imac at work, and it is agonizingly slow. Plus Photoshop CS2 is breaking up images so they are unworkable and is corrupting them. The hard drive says there is 202 GB available so -- is this a scratch disk problem and if so, why isn't 200 G enough? Does anyone have any help as to what I can do to speed this up? I have ordered (or are ordering at some point) another stick of RAM - but I am quite sure the problem is not going to be completely solved with that.

Aug 28, 2010Just got the new macbook connected to a newish Sharp Aquos HD tv. Done this with hdmi to dvi cable and adaptor all supplied by apple. Have the tv on HDMI2 channel and the image is great and worked out the mirroring etc... but...NO SOUND. Have tried everything on the tv i can think of and found in the menu options.

Oct 22, 2010I purchased a new Mac Mini today (latest base version from Apple Store). I also purchased an LG 2240 (LED backlit) 22" monitor.
The monitor only has a VGA connection therefore I am using the VGA>Mini Display port converter from apple.
The monitor is generally working fine however the display / quality is very grainy, making the text very hard to read. Also although the text is crisp and jagged in quality.
IMac :: Taking Out The Trash - Clean Out Photo Images
Jan 8, 2011I'm trying to clean out my photo images. I bought a new/refurbished 27" Mac 2.8 Quad desktop and I plugged my cell phone into it to recharge it and I accidentally let it suck up all the photos from my cell phone which were a LOT! I deleted a lot of them but there's a lot that won't empty from my trash bin. The message I get is "The operation can?t be completed because the item ? ####? is in use." (I inserted ### just for this post). I do know there's some photos being used in Picasa Photo albums but theres dozens I have no clue where they're being used. I don't see them in my iPhoto anywhere or Photo Booth..etc etc or my regular Picasa App. A lot of the photos that are in my Picasa Photo albums aren't photos I resized or turned clockwise.counter clockwise and such...and would like to delete those...but can't find them anywhere and this Mac is only a month old. Is there any way to find out where I can find the photos and stop them out of being "used" as the message I keep getting from my trash bin keeps saying?

Aug 31, 2014I was transferring images from my Transend 32 GB memory card when halfway through something happened and only half the images copied properly. The other half are greyed out, I cannot view the thumbnail and when I try to do anything with it it says "one or more of the items in "IMG_9203.CR2" can't be changed because they are in use. The memory card is empty now and I can't figure out how to get back my images!
