if I make the move to iCloud will anything happen to my stored Mail messages in my .mac/.me account? I keep tons of old messages going back to 2003 as a method of filing information and dont want to lose it. Will anything else change? I use Mail on both my MacBook Pro and my iPhone, and also remotely via the internet.

I have never used iCloud, and would like to know: what kind of documents can be stored on iCloud? I use apps such as Painter X3, and would like to store those projects. Is it possible? Also, how do I know what I have stored, can I eliminate it from iCloud when I choose, is it available for download. I really don't understand the whole concept. When attempting to sign in and use iCloud, I was given only a couple Apple apps to use for document upload. They were apps such as Pages, Preview, etc..Â

I believe I've researched enough posts here on Apple Discussions to tell me that what I want to do is possible, but I want to confirm it before I take some irrevocable action. So i can copy all the email address, ones i have typed into mail, across to my new setup. I have copied the com.apple.mail.plist and the mail folder/mail downloads into the right places. But i when i type a email it doesn't fill out the address for me.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to locate an attachment file from a recently deleted message. The message is no longer in my trash, so I can't access the file through Mail. In the past, there was usually an archived copy somewhere on my hard drive, but it seems to have moved in my most recent update of Mac OSX. It used to be in the Library folder in my user folder, but now there is no Library folder in that location. Where do I find these files?

My iMac is too old to upgrade to Lion, so when I switch from MobileMe to iCloud, I understand that I will no longer be able to use my desktop mail app to retrieve mail, and my calendars and contacts will no longer be in sync with my iPad and iPhone. So when I switch over to iCoud, is there any work-around for this so that I can continue to use the desktop mail app on my iMac or otherwise get mail on my desktop, and keep my mail, calendars and contacts synced between my iMac, iPad and iPhone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 15Gb boot camp partition on my 80Gb macbook hard drive (its the 2006 intel one and I haven't upgraded it because I keep everything on an external HD). I need to move everything over to my macbook pro which has a 250Gb HD.
I was wondering if Migration assistant will move everything (including XP) onto the new macbook pro (and if so, what size will the partition be) or if it will just leave the XP bit untouched as it isn't part of the mac?
I only use the XP bit for playing some older games that I absolutely love (Rome Total War, The Sims 2) and in case of any incompatibility problems, so if need be I can just create a new XP partition on the new Pro. However I would like to keep my saved games, so is there a way of migrating the windows partition as well?
I've been having repeated kernel panics for a little over a week now. I've run disk utility, tech tools, the disk utility on the installation disk, remember ram test, installed a virus checker, reinstalled (archive/install) mac os x. I am not receiving any errors in the tests, but I am still having kernel panics. They always happen when I am on the internet, not immediately, but I'd say about 20 minutes or so into a session. I first started having the panics when I clicked on a link from someone's facebook page and a kernel panic immediately popped onto my screen. I've been having them ever since.

There used to be arrows on the side for me to scroll up and down. I'm workinig in Word 2008 with Lion. All the scroll bar has is the double arrows which will give you the "previous," or "next page."I don't want the next page, I want to be able to scroll line by line.I DO have a scroll bar, just not the single arrows that let you scroll line by line.I also don't want to move the curser by using the arrows because many time I want to keep my place.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running Lion (latest ver) on my iMac (2011, i7), and have icloud set up to sync mail (and other stuff) with my iPhone 4. My iCloud account Sent Mail and Drafts are being syncronized between the cloud the iPhone, but not the iMac. So for example, I see 2 items in my Drafts folder when I log into icloud.com, and I see them in the drafts folder on iPhone mail, but they do not appear in the drafts folder for my iCloud account on Mail.app on the iMac. Also, I don't see emails I sent from icloud.com on my Mac's mail. I have iCloud enabled on the mac, and mail syncing is specifically turned on. Â

I seem to be having constant kernel panics when using my 2011 iMac (OS X 10.7.4), they seem to happen primarily when using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and happen from about 5 minutes of using the program to about 30. Even if I am not using adobe though the kernel panic still happens after about 30 minutes. I uninstalled Adobe and all seemed fine, so I attempted to reinstall it, but part way through the process it kernel panic's again. I was wondering if it could be when I am doing stuff on system intensive programs, so I tried running a game of Civ V, and that didn't seem to have any problems. Â
