However, I went into my Hotmail account and read/deleted some messages, but when I looked back in Mail, the messages I had read were still marked unread, and the messages I have deleted were still there! I have hit Synchronize with Hotmail and receive all new messages, but they are still there!

IMAP Settings for a hotmail account, How use IMAP for a Hotmail account in the Mail program on my iMac?

I have started using ‘mail’ for the first time, and have successfully imported 4 mailboxes into the program. I have two issues which I would be grateful for help with. I have browsed the forums used the ‘express lane’ through Apple, but to no avail: There is no ‘trash’ can. I have deleted several messages, but I don’t know where they have gone. When I check preferences, the tickbox to send items to the ‘trash’ can is ticked for each mailbox.Â
My work mailbox is successfully incorporated into ‘mail’, inclusive of mailbox subfolders, which are showing in the mailbox pane also. Lovely so far. My problem is that this has not happened for my imported ‘hotmail’ mailbox; my subfolders are not listed for this account.Â

Can't setup MAIL account on iMac no IMAP server. Says I have wrong SMTP server. I"m using a iMac version 10.9.4. MavericksHere is an example for you. I'm trying to set up Time Warner Cable mail account. I have Gmail, iCLoud and Yahoo mail.

Im trying to set up my apple mail with my yahoo account. I'm encountering problems conjuring yahoo mail w macfreepops. I downloaded and installed macfree pops... I put the incoming mail server 127.0.0.1 as directed and changed the port in the advance tab to 2000 as well. I've read all the bits on their website and read some blogs but still not working.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have configured my iPhone and iPad to connect to an Exchange Webmail Server and it works properly, including sync of email, calendar and contacts.
Settings include:
- email address
- server name (webmail.xxxx.com)
- domain
- user name and password for authentication
- SSL on
- S/Mime off
Now I have tried to do the same on my new iMac/Lion, using Mail. While all my email accounts (gmail, POP3, etc.) work well, I am unable to configure my Exchange account. In particular, I have used exactly the same settings as for iPhone/iPad (all but the domain name that is not in the configuration wizard and I have used domainusername as username), but it does not work. A first pop-up says that the system cannot get the certification of the server. Then when I click on "Continue" it says that it cannot connect because the password/username are not correct (however I have used the same settings that work on iPhone/iPad).

I can't open Mail. When i try the whole "Welcome to Mail - you'll be guided through the necessary steps to set up your mail account" message comes up. It's been working perfectly fine, so I just don't get it.
I've used disk utilities to repair permissions etc and have re-booted...I've even closed it down and un-plugged it and then booted up again, but to no avail. I'm running OS 10.4.11.
The only thing I can think of that would cause something like this is that the computer wouldn't wake from it's sleep mode when I tried to turn it on earlier, so I pressed the off switch at the back to shut it down and to open it again.
I am able to create a yahoo account but I cannot see the folders I created on yahoo on my mac?

I have several email accounts with different SMTP settings. So I may want to use the account from time to time but I don't need to be checking mail and downloading all the accounts. How can I set up a mail group to check mail from several accounts - but exclude one of the accounts (its duplicated you see). I am using outlook 2010.

Both of these accounts are"Exchange" accounts. As of now when I look in my availabe "Outoing Servers" it doesn't show that I have any. How to configure it to my exchange accounts.

Setting up hotmail in Entourage. I've tried countless solutions but none seem to work in my case. The problem seems to be that I can't send or receive mail (typical problem). POP server is pop3.live and I've entered my hotmail address and password. The smtp server is [URL]. I've tried many combinations of POP and smtp ports like,
110, 25 (respectively) Error message: -3259
225, 25 Error message: -3259
995, 25 -17897
I've also had Error message -16999 but I've forgotten which combination I had for that. In advanced options for POP server, SSL and Secure Password is checked; for smtp server, SSL and require authentication are checked. I've tried using the same settings as mail server and also logging on using my Account ID and Password. Also, I have a rule set up for send and receive every 1 minute (Entourage doesn't seem to like that; it wants me to do it every 15 minutes which isn't suitable). It seems like I've exhausted all possibilities and I still can't send or receive my emails! The odd thing is that when I initially set up my hotmail account, it was able to download all the messages from the server without a hitch.
I've looked and looked and have yet to find a free way to forward my hotmail account to my @mac account or even just forward it to Mail App.

I just installed Mac Office 2011 and am having trouble connecting my hotmail account to Outlook. I go to add my hotmail account and everything seems to work, but it does not show up on the left side under inbox or anything. When I go back into settings, it shows the hotmail as my default account, but I can't see any of my messages. Also, periodically alerts pop up in the bottom right hand corner showing "new" messages, however they are really, really old emails from my hotmail account.
I can click on the alert and read the old message, but I can't find where those messages are on Outlook. I have successfully added my gmail account and my home university's account. One other thing to mention, when I delete the hotmail acct and try to add it again, it always adds "On my computer" under the inbox section. This "inbox" keeps popping up with old old emails. So I go into preferences/general and hide it.
by some rason my emails are duplicated when sent out, it is happening on my hotmail acocunt only. Why does it happen? Â

1./ My trial to .Mac has finished and I now cannot send anything from my Mac Mail account, it keeps asking me to re-enter my password. Do I need to have a .Mac active account for mail to work? 2/. With the above in mind, can Hotmail work with the Apple mail so I can have everything in the place?
View 9 Replies View RelatedTwo years ago I switched over to Mac. Now I use only mac. But I don't like to change my email address from hotmail (I still have another gmail address as a standby account). Recently I found I cannot send emails from my hotmail account. Windows live says to upgrade my browser safari. Downloaded the safari new version. Then I found it is not compatible with my operating system OS X 10.5.5. What shall I do? I don' like the way they change software. There should be some solution. Can I buy new operating system? If it says Hardware is not compatible then money go into waste.

I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.
Started with issues of my accounts wanting a password every time it checked my hotmail accounts.I could fix them a few weeks ago by deleting the account and adding a new one (same one really).thought I would do that yesterday. deleted my hotmail account.clicked the + button/tab to add a new account- NOTHING happens. zero/nada etc.so I went to file and highlighted add a accountsame thing nothing happens.so dumb me, I went into my preferences and deleted the (should not have emptied the trash) mail preferences thinking it would help.
same thing can't add accounts only delete. only now I have no accounts.rebuilt preferences, deleted caches, rebuilt again, restarted etc.any ideas or help here.don't want to go back to entourage (quit that many years ago).
