So mail accounts like Gmail will no longer sync? Am I reading that correct? Has anyone switched to icloud and had a adverse impact on email other than your mac account?
View 3 RepliesI am trying to set up two gmail accounts in the Mail application of my new Mac Book Pro, but it won't allow me to take one of them online.One connects perfectly, but the other, it says i have to "verify the settings for the account". when i click "take all accounts online", it still fails to connect.Both appear to have the same settings in Preferences, and my system is fully up to date with upgrades.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy issue was that my wife and I both have separate Gmail accounts, but when she would use the Mac Mail program on our MBP, when she would send emails, it showed her name, but came from my Gmail account, and when people would respond to her emails, they would come to my email address. The issue is that according to MacMail, you are using the same outgoing Gmail smtp server, so you need to differentiate the two.
Go to Mail > Preferences
In your accounts, click the drop down that has Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), and click "Edit SMTP Server List...". When that window comes up, you'll see two different entries for Gmail, with the same outbound SMTP. Click on them individually, and you'll see the different Gmail account credentials.
Change the description of each (I changed mine to my and my wife's names, to easily identify which SMTP went with which mail account) and ensure that your Gmail credentials are accurate. Click Ok. Now, under each of the Gmail accounts, change the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down to match each of your Gmail accounts, and click the "Use only this server" box.

I have never had a problem before but, recently, my gmail isn't working with the mail application. I can see sent messages, but the mailbox no longer downloads mail from gmail. My inbox looks empty on the application even but, I logged into gmail on google and all the inbox messages were there.

Contacts, Calendars and Documents & Data. I am 100% sure that in the past in iTunes/Info tab "Sync contacts" and "Sync Mail Accounts" showed all my different Address Book groups and different email account to be synced. Since recently they seem disappeared and I only see my different Calendars to be synced. Why are both Sync contacts empty and Sync Mail Accounts both emtpy/dimmed. BTW if I check Sync contacts I get a message that they are synced through iCloud etc. etc. Now if I enable on my Mac another email account in Apple Mail it is not added to my iPhone/iPad anymore. How can I change that ?Â

for those of you using gmail with imap know, read and unread status's do not update for some reason w/out turning mail off then back on. i recently purchased a new (to me) intel macbook with snow leopard 10.6 and used mobileme to sync my mail accounts. what i noticed to my pleasant surprise is that my iphone, macbook, and gmail are all in perfect sync, BUT the g4 powermac with leopard and apple mail 3.6 still has a problem. is there any updates coming out, i find it hard to believe with the leopard updates still coming out they still haven't addressed this issue. are those of you with snow leopard experiencing the same perfect syncs with gmail read/unread status?

I have checked all the settings on my phone, and they are enabled, so I don't know what is going wrong. I have an Apple laptop and an Apple desktop. Both are running 10.5.4 and have the MobileMe 1.1 s/w update.
On the laptop, I've set up my Mail accounts, contacts, keychains, bookmarks, etc. as I want them.
I access MobileMe in System Preferences and indicate I want all data on MobileMe replaced by the data on my laptop.
As soon as the sync has completed, I access MobileMe in System Preferences on my Desktop and indicate I want all data on my desktop replaced by the data on MobileMe. Unless I'm missing something, the laptop, MobileMe, and the desktop should all by in sync at this point.
Without touching either computer or accessing MobileMe, I'll get a message on my laptop and/or desktop within an hour telling me that more than 5% of my Mail accounts have changed and asking me what I want to do. If I look at the details of the change, the before and after views of the account are absolutely identical. I've tried resetting the sync history via iSync but that doesn't help. I really don't want to alter the changed percentage that triggers the message because it could be useful for Contacts, etc.
How easily sync mail account information (preferences of each mail account) between mac's (Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro) and iPhone? It's so easy in Windows!! Just check the option box in itunes!!Â
For now, I use iCloud, define to sync mail and connected with same account on all my mac and iPhone ... nothing happened! I have three accounts out of 13 who appear!!! But WHY?Â
I red somewhere that the account information (password) must be saved in keychain ... ok ... but how do I change that for all account? I tried to remove one and recreate ... no success ... doesn't appear.Â

I have had a Gmail IMAP account sync with Mail without problems for over a year. I almost never actually log into Gmail in a browser anymore because Mail works just fine.
The other day I was away from my computer so I logged in via a browser and saw that about a month ago, Gmail stopped saving sent messages in the sent section.
Those messages are still in my Mail folder, but never got sent to the server or not saved. I never changed any configurations.
Is there some way to manually "push" those messages to keep things in sync?
I have checked my settings, everything is normal.
Is there a way to push my Mail contacts to my gmail account?

In the past, if I didn't move forward when Apple moved forward, all that happened was that I did not have access to new features.This time, with the demise of MobileMe and the introduction of iCloud, if I don't move forward I lose features, but even worse, even if I do move forward, I still lose features. In particular, the lack of syncronization under iCloud of Mail's Rules, Accounts, and Smart Mailboxes means that on our several machines I have to manually do updates multiple times, which of course leads to multiple mistakes. In my view, what Apple has done has the look and feel of customer abuse, something usually attributed to another large tech company. I can't avoid losing functionality, whether or not I move forward with Apple.Â
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am not sure how it happened but after upgrading the gmail account, the user accounts were changed from standard users to Mobile Me users. None of the users has ever had that type of account, and I am trying to figure out how to get it back to a standard user account. When the user attempts to log in, it asks for the user name, but also the Mobile Me user name (which they do not have). to make it worse, Mobile Me is no longer accpting new users, so I annot just add an account and log in using the new info.

I bought 3 email only accounts along with the family pack in mobile me (when it was dot mac) long time ago I paid for these for several years, then mobile me came in with Aliases, but my mail only accounts were tied over as legacies, and I continued paying for them in mobile me. They are 3 ----------@mac.com addresses, and are important to keep. What will happen in iCloud? am I going to loose these addresses - which would have a major impact on my "digital lifestyle" I really need to know how to keep them not figure out how to live without them! Then also I have two email addreses/accounts as part of mobile me family pack, wife has two also, Son has one. Does each of these accounts need migrating over to iCloud?What if two of these are the same person on the same Mac(s)Â

My husband's computers use Tiger and Leopard (10.5.8) to access his email on the Mail program. His mail is from Comcast and uses the Comcast server, not apple or iCloud. His mail suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago.....as it did on one of my machines that still uses Tiger. He had not done any updates that could have broken the software. He does not have iCloud except on his phone and he doesn't even have a .mac address. There is no reason for the comcast server to not be able to be accessed by Mail app. He did finally update everything that needed it and it still does not work. Why would Apple's change over to iCloud break email access from other servers and how can we fix it. He really doesn't want to do his mail on Comcast's web site as it's slow and awkward.Â

I keep getting asked to insert my password for the three accounts I access via mail. I can't get the preferences to save the passwords and can't get the passwords working with the keychain. It seems that keychain isn't accepting passwords since I changed my system from mobile me to icloud. I still have Mac OS X. version 10.6.8. I wish that mobile me was still an option.

Somehow, iCloud is receiving e-mail sent to another account, a non iCloud/non-mac.com, and bringing these e-mails into my mac.com inbox. Thus, all of the duplicate e-mails pile up in my Mac account making it difficult to find mail intended for the mac.com account.How is this happening? I've checked the settings in Preferences but nowhere do I see the accounts combined.
