I started my Apple ID with a gmail account years ago. When iCloud came out I made a new me.com email address under my original Apple ID. It won't let me switch it in iTunes. It says their two different Apple ID's. So I can change my email address in any other services except Apple's. I'm stuck using my gmail until I can switch that.

I just upgraded to Lion and moved my MobileMe info to the iCloud. Unfortunately, Apple has created two different iCloud accounts. For the primary account, it wants me to create a new .me email address. I want to use my existing one, but it is listed as a non-primary account, and I can't figure out any way to merge the two.

Mobile Me provided the facility to replace all data on a device from the data on Mobile Me. I have updated my contacts on my iMac. I let iCloud update my newer Mac Book Air but ended up with duplicates Now I want to update my Mac Book Pro which hasn't been used for 4 months and contains all the old contact information I edited off my other two machines. iCloud says the contacts data from my MBP will be MERGED with the data on iCloud. That suggests I will be letting myself in for a complete re-edit again and repeating work already done on the other devices.Â

When I tried to do this, I was then told that an appleID by that name already existed. So I then attempted to login using my email address as my appleID. It was then that I realized that I have two separate appleIDs. One I have had for years, and has tons of music associated with it, the other I must have created in the last year when updating my iPhone software version. I have no idea how much of what is associated with the new one, but I think the only way I could find out would be to format my phone and start again. For a long time, I used my e-mail address as my Apple ID. It has my music and all that other stuff associated on it. I bought MobileMe and now have the @me.com e-mail address, which has an AppleID as that e-mail address. Trying to change the old AppleID to the new e-mail address (ie. entering the new e-mail address in the Change AppleID box of the old account.) results in it telling me that that ID is already in use (by me, obviously). How can I merge the IDs, or somehow move my iTunes music to the new AppleID?
View 15 Replies View RelatedAfter I erase the hard disk it shows 74.5gb free, almost. It says there is 42.3mb of space being used by 2 files which I understand are used for read write or partitioning or whatever.
When I then leave disk utility and go to the actual installer, the destination disk (untitled - 74.5gb) shows only 73.9gb free space. What is taking up an additional 500mb of space on the hard drive?
Apple support told me that somehow the disk has been altered and I lost space on the disk or I am now using a seperate partition that isn't showing up. Disk utility shows only one partition with 74.5gb free space. He told me I can find information about how to 'merge' the disk on the apple support section under troubleshooting articles for disk utility. I have been unable to locate this information.

unfortunately in my transition into becoming an apple fan, i created another account using a me.com adress.

When I first set icloud up it wouldn't recognise my apple id but I made a new apple id and then managed somehow to get my apple ID for itunes store and icloud to be the same. However, I have just updated my iphone operating system and when it asked me in the initial setting up process for my Apple ID which is an email address it wouldn't recognise it again! Grrr! So the only way to get into my phone was to create another Apple ID for icloud on Iphone. Â
I now have one apple ID for my iphone icloud, for online icloud and for itunes purchases, and another for the support communities and icloud on my macbook! When I tried to log into the 'manage my account' with the new ID it switched mid process to my old one?! Why can't apple just allow me to manage my ID, where are the options?I can't upload my photostream from my Mac because the online icloud is using the new ID but I can't change the Apple ID in icloud system preferences anywhere!
