I have 2 different Apple ID's. 1 ending gmail and one ending hotmail. What I'm wondering is, can I merge the gmail account int the hotmail account? And then delete it.

I recently lost one of my Gmail accounts to a hacker and it was an enlightening experience. I like to keep all of my gmail messages because it's a useful history to search if I ever need to look up an old thread. However, the obvious problem is a hacker who gets in also has all that knowledge. What I'd like to be able to do is store my full Gmail account with all messages locally in Apple mail where I can backup as often as I want, then I'd like to purge my online Gmail messages. The idea is if someone hacked my Gmail account, they'd see very little messages but I would still have all e-mail copies saved on my machine.

I've recently IMAP-ed my Gmail to my Apple Mail.
When I press 'Get Mail', it begins importing my entire GMAIL inbox (complete with 1000s of emails). Is there any way to stop this?
I can log into Hotmail, Gmail and Facebook on my Macbook, using Firefox or Safari, but then that's it. The pages stop loading and I can't do anything like read a message or post a comment. All other websites work, so it's not an Internet connection problem. I've erased cookies, cleaned out my cache, changed my MTU, DNS, etc., but nothing works. I've also scanned for spy software and found nothing, which leads me to believe the problem has to be with my Macbook/operating system.

I started my Apple ID with a gmail account years ago. When iCloud came out I made a new me.com email address under my original Apple ID. It won't let me switch it in iTunes. It says their two different Apple ID's. So I can change my email address in any other services except Apple's. I'm stuck using my gmail until I can switch that.

Recently when trying managing my AppleID account, I was asked to make my appleID the same as my email. When I tried to do this, I was then told that an appleID by that name already existed. So I then attempted to login using my email address as my appleID. It was then that I realized that I have two separate appleIDs. One I have had for years, and has tons of music associated with it, the other I must have created in the last year when updating my iPhone software version. I have no idea how much of what is associated with the new one, but I think the only way I could find out would be to format my phone and start again. I know how to set up hotmail in Apple mail so that I am receiving email and can send email. But when I send a e-mail from my hotmail account from another computer, the email I've sent, wont appear in the 'sent' box of apple mail. Is there a possibility to sync my hotmail account entirely? I bought MobileMe and now have the @me.com e-mail address, which has an AppleID as that e-mail address. Trying to change the old AppleID to the new e-mail address (ie. entering the new e-mail address in the Change AppleID box of the old account.) results in it telling me that that ID is already in use (by me, obviously). How can I merge the IDs, or somehow move my iTunes music to the new AppleID?

I have no trouble setting up the account in mail.app, but I gather IMAP set ups store all the Inbox locally? Certainly set up of the gmail account in mail consumes over 10G of my precious MBP HD space.
So, is it possible to set up Mac mail with webmail so it that it more or less acts as a UI for the webmail account? I know I could easily use an app like Mailplane (nice but constantly crashes for me) or just a browser, but I am frustrated by the fact that OSX defaults to mail when an email link is clicked (maybe there is a fix for this) and I do like drag and drop file attaching, as well as the integration with iPhone, mobileme etc.

I just bought a $10 iTunes card and I want to by iMovie from the Mac App Store. (which brings my balance to $16.48) My problem is whenever I try to buy this product I'm sent to the billing page. I don't have a credit card so I select "none" and try to purchase iMovie again. But it just sends me back to the billing page. How do I get Apple to return the paid version of a certain app back to the App store? The free limited version is still available but the paid version with more features has been removed. I know people who want to get this app and cannot. It is Word Play Online and has a very loyal following with over 50,000 names playing and yet is gone from the App Store. I won't say that it's deleted because it's still in the accounts in preferences in Apple Mail, but the gmail imap folders used to be along the left side of the program are not there.
All I see are 2 Junk (Gmail) folders on the left along with my other two email accounts I use. My Mobile Me and Comcast emails are still there.
I've had my first Mac for about a year now - 11" Mac Air - and love it. But I'm still using Gmail, rather than the Apple mail program. I've got my iphone's calendar synced up to Google's and I can't see a reason to use the Apple mail app instead of Gmail in a browser. I'm running Chrome as my browser too?

I just got back home after 10 weeks away.
When away I access gmail remotely. (From a non-mac portable PC)
I just turned on my mac at home and it will not find the 10 weks of saved messages on my gmail inbox account.
All was well before I left in January and all other programs appear to be working. I have checked the mail preferences and seem to be OK.
When I ask for new mail the activity indicator appears to work OK and the wheel goes for a while but no new mail appears in my inbox.
