When ever I try installing OS 9.1 I get a error message when opening the installer some thing like this a disc error has ocurred and it will not install os 9. I get it even if i am trying to boot the disc. I trying to install it on a blueberry clamshell ibook

So I've been trying all weekend to install windows 7 through boot camp. At first, due to a lack of dvds to burn the iso I have, I tried doing the whole usb thing. I got as far as the Legacy Loader screen and could not find a solution. Finally, after getting a couple of dvds I burned the iso and tried to go from there. At first I just got a completely black screen every time I tried to boot from the cd. I tried a lot of the fixed on this forum as well as countless others through which I looked. I reset the PRAM, shut off the computer and disconnected everything including the power plug, waited a while and then restarted, changed the resolution to 800x600. Well eventually I got to the point where I got the black screen but with a blinking cursor.
I waited about 5 minutes and got the this msg: Windows encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

Waited like 15 minutes to see if anything happens but nothing. They teased me by telling me that if I pressed enter I could continue but in fact nothing happened. I know the dvd works because I tried it on a laptop running windows and when I popped in the dvd the install menu came up.
I get an error that occurred when I try to install Classic OS 9 on a G4 computer with Panther installed that said,system error occured, "Installer Engine error type 10 and 1. The installer OS 9 disc will freeze up when trying to install on my G4 computer. I would like to run both Classic OS 9 and OS X . Also, QuickTime Pro is not showing up when QuickTime is open on the monitor. I have installed Final Cut Pro 4 and also QuickTime Pro with its serial number, but it seems that the QuickTime Pro is not showing up whe openning up QuickTime.

I logged onto my iMac today and checked for any updates. I found updates for iPhoto, Thunderbolt, Airport and I think Safari. After it downloaded the updates and installed them, it wanted to reboot. Upon clicking ok, it went to a grey screen while initializing the updates, or something to that effect. Then it said an unknown error occurred and press ok to reboot. I presses ok but nothing happened, the box disappeared and the blank grey screen remained.
So I rebooted and the logon screen came up. I put my password in, which was accepted and the iMac moved on to blank grey screen with the darker grey Apple symbol in the middle and the the 'thinking' wheel doing its little circling thing just below that. It's sits there like that and doesn't move to the desktop screen. I've tried rebooting but it stalls at the same point. It's running the latest version of X. It didn't come with any disks and I don't have Time Machine.

I have a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 Mac book Pro, I changed the hard disk once, and now when I tried to update it, it always says "An unexpected error occurred" And the only button for me is the "Restart button" (Remember, I always have my Wifi on). I'm a new MAC user and would need to install XP on my MAC. I'm sure there are thousands of threads out there about this but I couldn't find one. I've tried installing with Boot Camp and got Disk Error. Realised I had Service Pack One. The CPU then wouldn't boot properly as it looked for the WIN CD later so I have to hold down the Option key every time I boot up. I now have XP Pro with SP3 and have partitioned the space (20gb). Just don't want to mess it up so I'll wait for a reply here.

" The error does not appear to happen all the time. It does seem consistent if I am transfering files and then try to transfer more.
The files I am transferring are .mp4. It does not appear to care about the size of the file, it happens with small files and large files, I can transfer some large folders (2.54G). I can connect the hard-drive externally directly to the mac mini and it will transfer any file.

A movie I purchased stops downloading almost immediately and the error message above comes up. The rest of iTunes works properly and my internet connection is fine. I was downloading numerous TV episodes before and during while this movie was in the cue without any issues. I've restarted my network and that did not seem to fix it.

Whenever I plug in my iPod recently it gives me an error message: "The iPod "iPod" cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-50)." I have tried both USB ports. Didn't work. I have reset the iPod. Didn't work. I have restored the iPod. Didn't work. The iPod loaded my songs but the iPod would not load my photos from iPhoto (and, consequently, my Address Book contacts since they are done after photos). So it seems to be a problem with iTunes-iPhoto-iPod. I have also on a suggestion used Disk Utility to partition my iPod. Didn't work.

Tried to log but I have received this message "you are unable to log in to the user account "user" at this time because an error occurred" (never happened before). I am sure that the password is correct because the screen doesn't shake, like it happens when I introduce a wrong password. Tried to reboot with "apple S" pressed to go to the root. When I access the directory "Users" I cannot see my user name anymore. Filevault is not activated, never did it. I have very important data from work (my whole year work), I don't have backup and I must not loose it. I was not trying to do an updade or anything, it just happen when I turn on the Mac.
I have tried to do the following things too:
Boot from installation disk #1: Accessed Disk Utility and repaired the disk. There was one error "Mounting of the drive" that was fixed. No other errors found. When I rebooted I got the same message at the login screen. Tried to change the password. I got an error telling me that I don't have permission or an error has occurred. The volume Macintosh HD appears to be ok. Rebooted and still had the same problem.
I am using Mac OS X 10.5.8. I had a program that was working perfectly, I tried to update it. Why? - I dunno myself. Anyway, now I can't open the program. When I try to delete it I get the message "sorry, the operation could not be complete because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code -61)." I made sure the program was "forced quit," but this made no difference at all. I tried to make the files "shares" files and not "locked" files in the "get info" tab, but it still doesn't allow me to delete them. Any idea of how I can get rid of this program now?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to have my logic board replaced in my 12" G4 Powerbook. I restored my hard drive content (from Retrospect) and all seem to work fine. Programs and files are where they were as per the last backup. But now none of my printers are recognized. I can have them appear in the Printer Browser window but when I try to add them an error message comes up. "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. server-error-service-unavailable." I have run both TechTools Pro, and DiskWarrior and have restored permissions and zapped the PRAM. The problem occurs with both USB printers on AppleTalk and on our network printers at the office.

I am able to connect to the iTunes store itself and look around and preview songs. but I can't log in to my account. I have the latest version of iTunes, and I haven't altered any settings in iTunes, so I'm confused as to why I am receiving this error message.
The other discussions and trouble shooting pages referencing the error (-54) seem to all talk about ipod sync issues or not being able to access the store in general.
