I do have a copy of the the Mac Mini SL Client software but I don't have another Mac to create the USB restore disc in order to load the client on the Mini Server via usb drive. I don't intend to use the Server Software and don't want to 'activate' the license so I can resell it instead. Can I just use the Server to create the bootable restore disc without 'activating' the Server License and locking it to my serial number? Or is there another way to create the restore disc if you don't have access to another Mac to run disc utility?
I just got a new Mac Mini at work today. I noticed something missing from its small box. Is it supposed to come with a Mac OS X 10.7.x install disc/USB flash drive or something in case I ever need to reinstall, fix, etc.? I only got these items:
1. Mac Mini
2. DVI to HDMI adapter
3. Power adapter
4. White Apple stickers
5. A manual (didn't see any disc and USB flash drive in it?)
If I am missing it, then I hope I don't have to return since I already set it up, installed a bunch of software, copy my data, etc.
I can't figure it out but all of a sudden my external usb powered disc drive is not being found at all by my Mac Mini.

Here's what happened. I bumped my Mini fairly hard, and the audio immediately cut out. I was watching some streaming video at the time, and the video kept playing. I tried to restart. Beach ball. I turned the comp off and back on. Folder with question mark. After messing around with that for a bit, I tried putting my 10.6 DVD in and starting from that. It didn't work, but that doesn't matter since that problem fixed itself after a few restarts. The problem is that the DVD is now stuck in the drive and the Mini doesn't recognize the drive any more. The drive momentarily spins up at startup, but that's it. If I have to take it apart to get the disc out, that's fine. I have the tools and have done it before when I upgraded the RAM. I just want to avoid that if possible.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Mac and I'd like to ask a question regarding Photoshop. I have 1TB on the hard disc, which is currently designed as a scratch disc (by default), and 1Tb of external drive that I currently use for storing miscellaneous items and as a backup. I would like to ask for opinion of someone more experienced - is it better to use an internal or external scratch disc for Photoshop, and if internal, is it better to create a partition or just leave things as they are.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed I had an older version of the Mac when I tried to download a Photoshop Free Trial off of the Adobe website and noticed they said my version was to low and I could not download it. I was very shocked because tons of people I know were able to do it and they didn't even have a mac. Any way to upgrade my software. How do I do that, where and is it possible to do online. (Photoshop required a min of Mac 10.6)

I have only recently started using macs but I have been quite enthused by the experience. So much so that one of my friends is considering purchasing a Mac Mini. He wants to run Photoshop on it and (like me) is about to buy CS3 basic. If he hates the mac adobe will apparently let him cross platforms back to windows for a small fee. Also will he be able to run boot camp with XP fairly well or is the machine too small to allow this? He will buy the beefier of the two and with 2gig of ram.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently obtained a Mini which I've connected to my TV for watching movies/etc. I don't have a keyboard or mouse on the Mini.I ripped a disc the other night (via a remote connection) and realized that I don't know how to eject the disc from the Mini without a keyboard, mouse, or remote connection from my MBP. I suppose there is probably some way to script MTR and then execute a disktool afterwards but what if I'm just watching a disc and want to eject it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am poised to make the change from PC to Mac. However, I have a decision to make. I am currently running a 3ghz QUAD core, 8gb RAM with Windows Vista. The system runs well (yes, even though it is Windows) but I wish to move to Mac and ditch the Windows world. I plan to use Logic Pro so need a Mac. I have 2 x 24" monitors that set me back 700. I was thinking to keep those and perhaps buy a Mini Mac. The mini Mac can support 2x displays.
My big question is this: If I went for the 2.66Ghz Intel Duo Core Mini Mac with 8gb RAM, would this tun Logic Pro without any problems? Would it also run software like Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator / Premiere without hanging or being very slow? Who has a mini Mac and currently has these softwares installed? Please advise? Should I simply sell everything and go for an iMac?

My G-4 startup disc is full and now the computer won't start up. I am told to put a startup disc in the drive and restart from it, but I cannot get the disc drive to open. I have tried everything, including copying over to external hard drive. I read that if you hold the mouse button down, the disc drive will open, but this hasn't worked.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2007 Intel MBP, running Leopard. I purchased the family version of Snow Leopard. When I tried to install it, it just spins the disc for a minute, makes the noise like it's trying to read it and then spits it out. All other discs work fine with my MBP so I know it is not the disc drive itself. I have all software "up to date." My brother installed SL on both of his MBs, one newer than mine and one older, just fine (with the same disc). I haven't seen anything out there with this issue so I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone knows how to resolve this issue (beyond taking it back to Apple and exchanging).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an older Mac mini, model A1176, 2005. I haven't upgraded to OS 10 yet, but I bought a family pack, and I can do that if I need to. Can I use the mini to download Netflix streaming movies? It has a CD slot; can I use it to play DVDs? My tv is also older, just a plain tv (no HD, no blueray) but it has a red-white-yellow port.
If I can do these things, what do I need to buy, and what do I need to do?
I am trying to burn a DVD of files I want to back up from my computer, and it gives me this error when I try to burn a DVD from the folder that my files are in. Finder gives no mention that there is a DVD in the DVD-drive, but it does pop-up with a message recognizing that a DVD was inserted initially. My drive has been working fine in the past, so this is something that has just recently happened to my computer. Does anyone have any ideas about this? My computer specifications are in my signature below and I'm running leopard 10.5.6.
The specific error message that I get is this "the disc could not be used because the disc drive is not supported." I did a google of this, but the results turned up stuff relating to 10.3 and 10.4, neither of which being relevant to my situation
I find it hard to believe that I've misplaced one installation disc but it would appear that I have misplaced two.
Is there a place I can download and burn a disc.
