Jan 22, 2010A question about windows 7 and a Mac pro 3.1 edition 2008. I have installed windows 7 and all is fine and dandy everything works, except in the bottom right hand corner there the error flag showing on the tool bar.

May 31, 2009Can I install a Raid Controller and connect say two drives to it, specially for windows? Will it be bootable? Or perhaps even connect the iPass of the four internal bays to an Adaptec 5405 and get a separate cable for my Mac Drive. Will both be bootable? What if I just want to boot Windows for now? I sometimes need to convert my early 2008 Mac Pro into a rather beefy Windows workstation and the lack of HW Raid is rather irritating.

Sep 4, 2009When I attempt to access Street View under Snow Leopard (by dragging the little "person" icon to a street), instead of getting a photo of the street, I get a black screen. No photo at all. If I then click Street View's full screen icon, I finally get a photo but the navigation bars are no longer overlaid on the screen. And you can't "grab" the photo with the mouse pointer to change your perspective view (can't look up, down or to either side). Further, the navigation icons in the upper left corner don't work either. You're simply stuck with the single view photo that comes up at first.
I had already installed the latest Flash version (10.0.32.18) before I ever tired Street View. Maybe that's the problem? Snow Leopard shipped with an older version of Flash (10.0.23.1) and maybe Apple did that for a reason? I had also already installed Apple's most recent update for JAVA before trying Street View. On Apple's support forum and Google's help forum, I've found about 5 other people that are reporting the problem too. One guy said he was having the same problem and then it magically went away on its own? But I'm sure 99.9% of the folks that have already installed Snow Leopard simply haven't gone to try Street View yet. I bet it's broken for a LOT of people.
Safari :: Doesn't Quit When In Google Street View
May 15, 2012If I am in Google Maps Street View and I try to quit Safari, it always refuses to quit. (ie. Nothing happens at all when I click Cmd+Q)
If I come out of Street View, by zooming out into Satellite or Map view, or by going to another site altogether, Safari will quit normally.
As far as I know Street View is the only thing that causes this problem of Safari refusing to quit.
I'm running Safari 5.1.7 at the moment, (although the same thing happened in previous versions), and OS X 10.6.8.

Just played about 15 mins when my screen (aion)ingame froze (but sound + mouse didnt) and a few seconds later i've heard skype shutting down - and a few seconds later everything started to shutdown -> bam bluescreen for about 1 sec -> restart O_o happened now 3 times in an hour..

Feb 23, 2009I have recently bought a new macbook pro early 2008 and have installed bootcamp on it to play games.
I have noticed that with the stock nvidia drivers that came with the bootcamp cd, I was able to set my screen brightness at a pre-determined level once and for all without adjustment.
However, with that stock drivers, I have gotten a few BSOD while playing DotA, so I have updated my drivers to the latest nvidia beta laptop drivers, that made the brightness issue pop up.
Now whenever I switch on my mbp, I would have to go and set the brightness of my screen to my desired level EVERY SINGLE TIME, if not it would be turned back to maximum contrast every time I opened a single window. Now this pisses me off a lot as I game a lot.
Any of you guys have the solution to my problem?
I would greatly appreciate all of your inputs!

Apr 15, 2010A while ago I edited a video for a client. Everything went well until the project was actually, well... done. I edited in iMovie, converted the clip to MPEG-4 and burned it to DVD with free software called Burn. The disc played just fine for me on a couple different machines, but he could never get it to play in Windows Media Player. I told him to install codecs; still nothing.
So instead I burned the DVD again, this time in iDVD. So I'm guessing this time the video format was in MPEG-2. Again, the DVD played perfectly fine when I tested it on two different machines. The client tries to play the DVD in Windows Media Player. Still nothing...
I've told him to download VLC, but he's arguing the fact that this disc should work on pre-installed software on every PC (in this case, Windows Media Player). I do agree with him on that, but let's face it, Windows Media Player is not the best software to use. So my question: What is the best way to go about this? I've tried using Burn and iDVD with no luck (on his end).
Windows On Mac :: Playing Stream Music From OSX Partition?
Jul 19, 2010I have a Snow Leopard and Windows 7 partition. On my Windows 7 partition, I'd like to be able to stream music that I have stored on the OSX one. Is there any way to do this? I'm able to access the files using programs like HFXExplorer, and I'm able to copy music to the Windows partition when I'm on the OSX one, but when I try accessing the OSX partition from the Windows 7 partition, I'm met with empty folders.
Copying all the music is out of the question as there is a great deal of it, for which I just don't have the space for doubles. Is there anyway to simply stream the music from the OSX partition in a music client; winamp specifically?
QuickTime :: .mov File Has No Video - Playing It In 7 On Windows XP
May 11, 2012I work for a law firm and we received a CD which contains a .mov file. When we try to play it in Quick Time, it plays the audio, but NO video. We are trying to play it is Quick Time (version 7.7.1) on a Windows XP Pro PC. When Quick Time first opened, it gave a message saying "Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media. It may be available from the Quick Time Components page." I clicked Continue and it took me to the Components page, but it lists like 10 different components and I have no idea what we need. Is it a CODEC? I have tried converting it to a different format usinig two different softwares and have gotten errors.

Apr 19, 2009Well I'm running Windows XP SP2 with Boot Camp 2.1 and everything seems to be working fine, but when I'm running Empire: Total War, I have to have the quality on the lowest possible setting. Where as with Half Life (well when I ran it in Parallels this time) runs on highest quality.
Is there something I can do? I didn't think Empire: Total War was THAT graphic intensive, especially if Half Life 2 runs fine.

I am still not absolutely satisfied with the playback and have read that a final bottleneck is the PCI bus (66mHz) and that I can upgrade this to 133mHz.
I am interested in doing this but I want to understand it a bit better. Is the bottleneck the data transferred from the Hard drive or the motherboard to the GPU?
Also, I am looking for suggestions on what to buy. 100mHz or 133mHz or what?

Nov 21, 2007Heres the problem. My flat mate has two Playstation 2 controller's and a USB adapter so we can plug them into our laptops. Trouble is, the adapter allows both controllers to be plugged into just one USB port.
For some reason, my Mac only sees one controller, not them both as separate controllers. The software my flat mate got with the adapter is Windows only, so I'm kinda stumped to get them both working on my Mac.
Has anyone found a work around to get this working? I'm missing out on playing multiplayers on my N64 emulator!
