Windows On Mac :: Vista Doesn't Recognize Blu Ray Disk?

May 12, 2009

I recently installed an LG GGC-H20L Blu-Ray and HD DVD drive into the second bay of my Mac Pro. This in itself was an absolute pain, as I had to enable AHCI for Windows Vista by using a modified mbr because I was using one of the ODD_SATA ports on the motherboard which Windows doesnt' "see" cause it runs in legacy mode. Everything there went completely fine, as now I am running in AHCI mode and I can see the LG drive and I can play CD's and regular DVD's via that drive in Windows Vista. However, the problem now is that when I insert a Blu-Ray or an HD DVD, Windows doesn't even recognize that there is media in the drive. It says there is no disc inside. When I boot in OS X, I can clearly see both the HD DVD and Blu_ray (although I can't play it or do anything with it).

Windows On Mac :: Vista Ultimate Disk Doesn't Work?

Mar 9, 2009

I've followed the Bootcamp procedure correctly, but when I load my Vista Ultimate disk all I get is a blank screen. I've left it for a while, but even after half an hour still nothing.

What could the problem be, any tips?

It is a MacBook and 32 bit Vista if that if of use.

Applications :: Boot Camp Can't Find A Disk Partition For Windows Vista...?

Dec 11, 2010

I tried to install Windows Vista (64bit) using Boot Camp. I get to the window where you select the disk partition you want to install Windows on, and there aren't any options. How can I get the newly created partition (the one I made with Boot Camp Setup Assistant before restarting) to show up on that list? Or, where do I find the "driver" that it requests instead?

Applications :: Bootcamp Won't Recognize Windows Disk?

Jul 9, 2010

I am trying to do a clean install of windows 7 using two upgrade disks (windows vista and windows 7) after windows vista was wiped from my hard drive when my hd crashed. I put in the windows vista disk after partitioning my hard drive (using only 5gb for windows side) and the disk cannot be recognized. It ends up trying to load for 20min then finally allows me to pop it back out. Can anyone direct me how to fix this and install windows using these two disks? My macbook pro is running snow leopard if that matters.

Hardware :: Can Windows Recognize Time Capsule Disk?

Mar 8, 2008

I recently purchased a MBP and a Time Capsule. Still waiting on the MBP, but went ahead and set up the TC as a router for my current Dell laptop. In theory, I don't really care since I will have my MBP w/in 2.5 weeks, but is it possible for my Windows machine to see the disk on the TC? I went into TC and set up the workgroup name to be the same as the workgroup on my PC, but I still don't see it. I doubt anyone has done it, but was curious if it's possible. I assume that the Windows client should be able to access that giant disk (or a Windows user would never buy the product). One question though, it shows the filesystem as FAT32. Is that right, or just how it's represented to the Windows client?

Windows On Mac :: Windows Doesn't Show Up In Start Up Disk Control Panel

Jan 3, 2011

I have a macpro with OSX on one drive and windows 7 on a partition of another drive. Both systems work fine and I boot into windows by holding the option key down. What is odd is if I go to the system preferences startup disk my windows install does not show up. I did move my windows partition a while ago to a new drive. I used bootcamp to create the partition and winclone to move the data. It's not a big deal not having the option in the preference pain but would be nice. If I am in windows and go to the bootcamp control panel both OS X and Windows are there.

MacBook Pro :: Boot Camp Won't Recognize Windows 7 Install Disk?

Jun 13, 2012

I am trying to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my MacBook Pro purchased late 2011 and running Lion.  The Windows software was purchased online and downloaded.  I then copied the .iso file to a dvd.  When I try and install Windows through Boot Camp it doesn't recognize that there is a disk in the drive to install Windows.  I sure hope I didn't waste my money.  Has anyone installed Windows 7 from a OEM download?

If I connect it via USB it works. Do I need some drivers ? If yes, where can I found them? I found this on WD but I have the previous generation i.e. without the digital screen. If I go to the software download, it says that the drivers won't work with the previous gen.

Mac Pro :: Possible To Have Vista And OS X On Same Disk?

Mar 24, 2009

I am writing about my experiences making the switch to Mac whilst at the same time reviewing the Mac Pro 09 Quad 2.66 [URL] I have a couple of early problems which are described in a little more detail in the blog, but they are essentially this: 1. Is it possible to have both Vista and OSX on seperate (via bootcamp) partitions of the same disk? I am pretty sure it is, but Disk Utility is being very flakey in that its failing to create the second partition 2. Anyone have much experience getting standalone MTS files imported into iMovie 09? Probably the wrong forum to ask this question so ignore if you want But my brief research seems to suggest this is down to them being standalone mts files without the rest of the AVCHD directory structure that is present on the camera's hard disk
