Windows On Mac :: Unable To Connect To Internet Using XP Through Bootcamp?
Nov 14, 2009
Internet runs just fine on Mac OS but when I restart XP through bootcamp it won't connect to the internet. ??? Didn't have any problems installing XP and the drivers from the Max OS disk either.
I've searched this everywhere online and cant find a clear answer on how to fix. Very annoying.
New 27" imac with all the updates.
Anybody else have this problem or know how to fix?

I installed parallels in my macbook and I have the game Red Alert 3 installed in windows in the parallels. I can see that i'm connected to the network in windows and the mac and i can access the internet in both. We have 3 computers in the network, two are PC's and one is the macbook. When the PC creates a game in the same network, the other PC can see the game and join it. But the mac, which is connected to the same network, can't see the game and cannot join. How can I fix this network problem?

I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro, and today I've been unable to connect to the internet via ethernet or wi-fi, unless I'm in safe mode. Then everything seems to work as it should, which makes me believe that this is a software issue rather than a hardware problem. I've tried making a new account with administrator priveleges, but that doesn't solve my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can connect to the internet under my normal user account, rather than in safe mode? I should note that I won't be able to get my hands on my repair CD or perform a clean install of OSX because that stuff is at home, and I'm in college. Also, I'm at a university and don't have a router. I just use the campus-wide wi-fi. Finally, my roommate has no problem accessing the internet in our room via ethernet or wi-fi, but I do. Thanks for the help everyone.

this is a major problem for me. I just installed ubuntu on my mac via boot camp, and I can't find how to set up wireless internet! Once, after installing windows, the same problem occurred. I'm not sure whether this version doesn't support airport (ubuntu v10.04.1) or I need the snow leopard drivers (but I can't because it's a .exe file).

I've installed the drivers, and when I start up in Windows, neither the internet or the wireless pick up.
Using Windows Vista Home Premium. The little wireless icon in the tray just has the big X, so it's literally picking up nothing. I also can't connect via ethernet.

My Dad is currently unable to connect to the Internet with his Mac.
He's using Mac OS X Version 10.4.11. It connected fine this morning but he's been unable to connect this afternoon or this evening. A message keeps popping up saying: "Could not find a PPPoE server". I've tried running through the wizard for setting up the connection but it doesn't seem to work.
I've been using my PC online all day with no problems.

I installed XP, via BC, on my older 20" iMac, and I keep getting an error message when trying to connect to my wireless network. My network shows that it is available, with full signal strength, but as soon as I try to connect to it, I get an error message saying that it may be out of range, and I should refresh and try to connect again.

Anyway, so I bought a 15" 2.66GHz MBP beginning of December and up until a day or 2 ago I've been experiencing problems when I try connecting to the internet.
There are 2 other computers in the house (Windows based, don't know if that's go anything to do with it) and they both connect just fine.
So is there anything wrong with the MBP that I can fix?
(I've tried rebooting the MBP, the router, the modem, everything...)

Anyways, i used to have a Linksys wrt54g router. It was hooked up and had an SSID of linksys. Later replaced it with i think the wrt110n or whatever the 110 draft N model number is. This router was set up and the wrt54g taken down (no longer plugged in at all). The wrt110n has an SSID of hawkes, and everything works fine but after browsing for an hour or so I will loose internet connection.
When I click the airport icon in the status bar it tells me that I am connected to a network called "linksys". I have to then click to reconnect to hawkes which is the network that I should be on.
Now I'm not sure if there is someone else broadcasting an unencrypted wireless network with the SSID linksys and my mac is just trying to connect to it at times or if it is getting confused and trying to connect to an old network?
I'm wondering if anyone has had similar problems or if anyone knows how I could tell the airport utility to "forget" about old networks with the name linksys so it will stop trying to connect to them?

I have a MBP that will not connect to the internet. The airport shows an ip, but shows failed for internet and server. I have another laptop, desktop, ipad 2&3, iphone and 3 ipods connected to wifi and work flawlessly. I called the ISP and spoke with them for about 2 hours and they say all settings are right, and they can even see the MBP on their end. Wanted to add, i cannot connect with ethernet either, wired directly to modem by bypassing router.

This is a weird one. For some strange reason, iTunes is unable to connect to the internet on both my Vista PC (I know, I know) AND my Mac AND MY iPod Touch! All my other internet-enabled applications on all my machines (PC, Mac) can connect just fine.
This is too weird. I'm wondering if my school is blocking iTunes, but seriously, that's the LAST thing they should be doing. iTunes is, you know, legit and legal.

I was happy to get my mac pro yesterday, but upon setting it up, I couldn't get it to connect to my network. When I clicked I the airport logo and the top right, it said airport was on and I was connected to the network. However, when I opened up Safari I got nothing...just a screen that said something like "you are not connected to the internet." The last time I had a macbook, I turned it on and bam, I was connected to the internet right out of the box.
After trying to fix it for 30 minutes, I decided to reset my modem/router. After doing this, the macbook connected to the internet for a few hours and I went to bed. Now I come home today and it works for about 30 minutes and then stops working. Keep in mind, my PC is working flawlessly so I know my network is up and running. After about 30 minutes, it connects again...and then stops working again. Very frustrating. As I type this message, it still wont connect to the internet even though the computer says I'm connected to the network.
Another thing that makes me think there is a hardware problem is that the macbook wont connect to my wireless printer. I've installed the software 2x and right after going through the install procedure, it will print for about one minute and then it does nothing - I get a message that says something like "your printer is not on or not connected to the network." So then I went through the steps of connecting it again and again. Every time it would ask for the password to the network so I put it in and it says I'm connected....but nothing will print. After the 3rd time, I was finally able to make it to spit something out wirelessly from my macbook...but 5 minutes later it's back to saying my printer is not on or connected to the network. This is weird because initially it works and then it stops. During this whole procedure, my PC recognizes it just fine and prints within 5 seconds. For some reason the mac just wont do it.
I thought macs were supposed to just work, but this laptop has been more frustrating than any PC I've owned. Here I am with a new macbook that can't connect to the internet OR my printer. Granted, I know very little about computers so maybe I'm overlooking something simple.
If it's a hardware problem, do you think Apple will refund my money?

My girlfriend's MacBook (OSX 10.4) recently decided to not access the internet. I have a Linksys wireless router with 2 PC's connected (via ethernet). She usually connects to the router using her built-in AirPort. But, a couple days ago, she was surfing the internet and clicked on a page, and she got the whole "You are not connected to the internet" window. Usually this is no big deal, just a quick power cycle for the router and we're back on track. This time is different. Not only does she still see the router (192.168.1.1), and can access it, but even when she's hardwired via ethernet cable the Macbook can't access the internet.
I love tech'ing things out, and am a real geek for troubleshooting. But, I can't figure this out for the life of me. My other PC's can connect wirelessly, and surf the internet with ease. But, her Macbook seems as if it just doesn't want to access the internet.

I have an AirPort Extreme for almost a year now. I have never had any problems till today. Suddenly all devices in my home were not able to connect to the internet except my MacBook. I tried resetting and even restoring the AirPort Extreme but nothing has worked. The only thing recently that has happened was that I updated to OS X Yosemite Beta but that was days ago.

I currently own a Macbook I purchased in January 2009. A few days ago I installed Boot Camp Agent so I could use it to play certain games I could not run using Parallels. I downloaded Boot Camp following the directions it comes with. (Installed Windows XP Pro, then installed Mac OSX Leopard 10.5). Everything works fine except I cannot figure out how to use the wireless network established in my home.
On the Mac side, I can connect to the internet with the Airport fine, never have a problem on that side. When switched to the Windows side I have no wireless options. Though I can use the internet when using an ethernet cable connected directly to my router (Linksys WRT110). I have read soo many forum posts and nothing I have read has helped so far. When I go to Network Connections and Properties, I do not have a Wireless Network Connection tab.

Ive been using windows 7 32bit to play battlefield bad company 2 via steam for about a month now with no problems. A week or so ago, I booted into bootcamp, loaded bc2, found a server, played for a few seconds then started noticing major lag. After a couple of minutes of this, the connection would be lost with the server and very shortly after the internet light on my router would go from green to red. I boot back into OS X and the connection goes back up. It now does this every single time i boot into bootcamp and the connection is always perfect in OS X. I tried reinstalling windows 7 (64bit this time) and the problem is still there.

I have had Windows 7 installed on my 2010 iMac for a while now. I installed all the drivers from the snow leopard disk, everything is up to date including the device drivers, and yet I am having wireless internet connectivity problems. Everytime windows tries to connect to the internet, it says that there is no internet access and that it is identifying the network. I have tried resetting my router, turning my airport on and off and rebooting my computer, all of which have not worked.

I am connected to the internet via a belkin N+ router..... this is in turn connected to an adsl modem...I am having no problems with the signal to the router but at least four times a day my internet disappears....
When I run Network Diagnostics hey presto, your internet is working fine....The only things I have changed recently was that as I am running osx 10.4.11 I was having that issue where you couldn't access Network in sys pref, it kept saying "your settings have been changed by another application", I found a solution on here whereby you delete the plist prefs and rebuild them... That worked a charm but now I'm wondering is this connected in some way....
or...
I got software from the makers of the belkin N+ wireless usb dongle chip that came with my router (belkin don't provide osx support but said that I could get a utility from the chip makers) I installed this but it never worked so uninstalled it, and ran disk utility and safe boot and pram and fsck (everything I could think of)
I only have one location in network, and airport is the only active network port
any ideas...????
System:
imac G5 20" | osx 10.4.11 | belkin N+ router | airport extreme card

I currently use a Powerbook, and I access the internet though our AirPort Extreme router. Recently, for some reason, although I am on the right network, and signal strength is full - I am unable to connect to the internet! I've called my provider, and everything is fine on their end according to their systems. I've tried power cycling, and checking my settings, and everything SEEMS to be ok.

So to preface my problem let me just say that ive got my own macbook which works on the same wireless network with no faults at all, so i assume its not an error with the networking hardware. For xmas i bought my parents a macbook, recently (not sure how recently as theyve only just told me its happening) they can be browsing the web then all of a sudden the internet takes ages to load, it stalls on 'trying to connect' for a long time (40+ for each web page).
Ive tried using firefox and the same thing happens so it looks like its not safari specific, during this time i cannot ping google.com through a terminal either or if i can the response time is unbelievably slow. Now, ive tried disabling ipv6, ive set the dns servers to opendns and none of this has fixed it. if i click on the airport utility and turn it off and the back on it fixes the problem for a short period of time before it happens again.
