Finally got the need to install XP on my MBP. I have installed all the drivers from the Bootcamp CD, now I really miss 2 finger tapping, or, well, any tapping on the trackpad at all!!! How do I enable it?

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo my problem is i installed Parallel Desktop, installed windows 7, 64bit and after i installed Lineage 2 (a game that uses Direct3D) i get an error running the game, were it says i need to enable Direct3D in the DxDiag - but when i run the DxDiag it just tell me that info is not available, so there is nowere i can enable Direct3D :/ I have been googling the issue, but i havent been able to find a solution on how to use/enable Direct3D. However the graphic card i have in my MacBook pro is called Nvidia Geforce GT 330M and does support Direct3D so it must be something that happens because of the mac cross to windows 7 thingy. Also i have been trying to installe the latest drivers from Nvidias website, but i also get an error when i try to install them, saying it cant verufy my hardware - so it must be something about windows not beeing able to detect what kind of graphic card i use cause its on a mac system?? Another thing i notcied was in DxDiag i saw under memory, it only see 1 GB of memory and i have 4 GB available not that it changes anything

Apple Customer has purchased Windows 7 ISO file for his iMac Computer.
But, the fact is that Apple only allows this on computers that support booting from an USB drive (aka they don't have optical drive).

When I pick it up, or when I move is suddenly (even just slightly), I get a horrible sound from the back right hand side. It sounds like a someone is putting a piece of plastic into a spinning fan. It also kinda sounds like the hard drive head hitting the disk (scratching sound). I know that these things are meant to have a movement sensor which actually takes the head OFF the disk, but this sounds like its doing the opposite (scratching the moving disk). If I do it while watching a movie, the film freezes for a second at the same time the sound can be heard - so it's definately something to do with the hard drive.
I have done some research but everyone talking about the sudden movement sensor has described the sound as a "click", not a scratch. Can someone confirm this is normal, or abnormal? It's happening quite a lot - e.g. if I just pick it up it occurs. I've had loads of laptops and this is the first that seems to make a sound whenever I move it...
this is weird. I just installed a new HDD with SL and now my program(s) don't minimize when I double tap them. what did I miss here? is there a setting I don't know about? I have tap to click enabled in the settings tab. but for some reason, my open programs won't minimize when I double tap them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA friend just got a MBP 13 a month ago and despite running all the updates his trackpad will move the cursor but tapping(which is selected) and clicking don't register anything. He's using a usb mouse at the moment so the only thing I can think of is that he erased some drivers, should he do a install and recover or just back up files and do a complete re install? I'd imagine that as the trackpad moves the cursor it's not a hardware problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have a macbook pro 2.66 ghz, purchased in august 2009, and recently i have been experiencing the trackpad missing a couple taps when i try to click on something. i sometimes restart it and uncheck and recheck the tap to click in settings, but it eventually does the same thing.

I checked the Disk Utility and I have only 1 partition formatted with Mac Extended FS (Case Sensitive).
Is there a special setup to enable FileVault? (I'm new to this stuff)

When I booted up my computer this morning, I realized that the volume icon in the menu bar was missing. I tried to adjust the volume with the keyboard, but an icon came up that makes it seem like it's locked. I went into System Preferences and under Sound, the computer doesn't seem to find the speakers for output or the internal microphone and line-in for input. Has anyone else had this problem?

The optical connection is working fine but whenever i play ANY audio (iTunes, system sounds, youtube, or games) its always in Stero.. never 5.1. I installed the Chrome beta a while back, and it's been updating itself since, but I need to finally get extensions working - I need my Adblock (Digg is completely unbearable without it). I read about the method to enable it weeks ago, just install the dev version - agree to the EULA and download. I did that, and overwrote the existing copy of Chrome. I didn't remove any other files. I still can't install extensions using the bookmarklet - it enables the install button, but I receive 'Extensions are not enabled' immediately after the download tries to start. The other thing is, the dev version is supposed to include the bookmark manager. That's also nowhere to be seen. Chrome says I'm running version 4.0.249.30 and that it's up to date. Any ideas? Do I have to completely remove Chrome before installing the dev version (i.e. everything I've built up in my Chrome profile to this point in Application Support)?
