I would to knowm if the creative x-fi Fatal1ty Pro run in macpro, in mac Os and Windows. Really... I only need run in windows, but if run in mac Os... it'll be better.
I saw this sound card and... ASUS Xonar D2/PM... can I install any card in my macpro???, will it run in windows?

Oct 18, 2009I have been a PC user for 15 years and after using my friends new macpro via remote desktop, I think I really like the workflow a lot better. I do online marketing so efficiency is most important for me. The other really important thing, and the only thing that would prevent me from getting it, would be the fact that I LOVE windows gaming. I have read on the mac site that I can install a copy of windows alongside. First, will windows 7 be able to be installed? Second, my question mainly deals with the hardware of a mac... I'm not sure how the graphics suffer when trying to run windows games on high quality on mac hardware. Can anyone with experience tell me how this would work? If what I'm about to describe will work and is kosher, then I'm going to get an absolute top of the line Mac Pro

Windows On Mac :: BootCamp/XP On MacPro Advice?
Jul 8, 2010I have a 2008 MacPro with dual 2.8's running the latest version of 10.5 (I have been reluctent to upgrade to 10.6). I also use Apples's magic mouse.
The only reason I still use my PC is for Quicken. I have tried trials of Mac replacements but they just didn't cut it for me and Essentials has had disappointing reviews. So I have a full copy of XP Pro, SP2 coming.
I was going to do a small partition of 20 or 30 gigs and install XP and Quicken using Boot Camp.
Any advice/comments form those with Mac/Windows experience?
My Mac is hard wired to my Airport so wireless internet is not an issue and I may not even activate internet for the windows partition. No need for Mac to PC file sharing either.
Will the Blue Tooth mouse work?
I have read SP3 can cause problems so stay with sp2?
Might it be better to have a HD just for windows?
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Two Separate Time Machine Backups / Use To Create Two Separate Profiles On One New Computer
Mar 31, 2012I have an iMac 27 (end of year 2009) I5.It has 1 TB internal and I want to replace it with a 2 TB internal. I have time machine backups on an external hard drive that has been connected via Firewire. I have another iMac (my son's)Imac 24 Intel Core 2 Duo that has it's own separate Time machine backup to it's own separate firewire connected external drive.Both machines are completely up to date with the latest version of Lion and all other necessary software updates.When the internal hardrive is replaced - I want to use my latest time machine backup to create one profile on the imac and then use my son's latest time machine back up for a second profile.The end goal being to have everything from my current set up ie: apps, documents, itunes, etc existing in one profile and everything in my son's current set up existing in the other profile.We can both be administrators for the time being as well.I should note even though we both have some of the same apps, we both also have other apps that the other does not.
My profile will be using about 900 gigs of total space.My son's profile will be using about 250 gigs of total space.This is temporary until the new iMac is released.Then I will want to transfer my profile to that leaving my son's intact on the iMac 27 I5.I realize that during the temporary period that Time Machine will be making backups of this entire two profile setup, which I am now understanding as I write this will create a new issue for me when I want to transfer only my profile to the new computer as well.But one bridge to cross at a time, I guess.I need to do this because we must bring his current computer to my father - as his iMac G5 is inoperable. We have been doing this round robin hand me down in our family since IMac DV special edition :-)

OS X :: Separate IP For Separate User?
Dec 5, 2009hat I'm doing is a little crazy, but I'm doing it partly just for the fun of making it work. I'm trying to make my Intel so my PPC user can connect to my user via screen sharing and play an Intel based game online with me. I have the screen sharing working and everything, but apparently the LAN doesn't work because we have the same IP.
So, my question is: Is there a way to make my other user have a different IP than my main user? I'm thinking maybe some mac address emulator may work, but I thought I'd see if anyone here knew an easier way before I got too complicated.

He edited the "host" file and now my internet connection seems even worse. I found instructions online on how to edit the host file, but could someone post what the host file is actually supposed to look like in Snow Leopard since I don't know what he changed? I still have a completely clean install of SL, no 3rd party apps yet.

I can connect to it from the macbook pro it is running on by using my IP address or my loopback address. however when I try to connect to it from another host (on the same subnet as my MBP) I can't. My MBP just doesn't respond to the connection attempts. I ran wireshark on my MBP and it shows that it doesn't respond. I can see the SYN packets coming in but no SYN/ACK packets are sent back.

May 24, 2012I have gone through the setup of my newly installed lion server software. I setup a server.example.private host name and have turned on file sharing, and VPN. I bought the server software so I can access my host computer from my IPad and a windows based laptop. When I attempt to setup the profile manager I get to the screen in the directory admin setup that asks for the host name and password, etc. The name and host name are already populated with a generic names and the password fields are blank. Whether I leave the generic fields blank and try and enter a new password or change the generic fields and password to something new I get the same error message every time. It says "Computers host name is invalid. The host name does not resolve to any configured address on this comp. ensure the host name is correct. How do I find out what the correct host name is for my computer?

Dec 2, 2014In having a problem with my MacBook pro with OS X 10.10 installed and the network hostname just changes automatically from "my MacBook Pro" to "my MacBook pro (2)" And later on it changes to "my MacBook pro (4)" . How this happens and how to resolve this I tryed to change the host name but it automatically changes back agaiN even when I disconnect the wifi then change the name back into "my MacBook Pro" it takes abou a minute to automatically change back into my "MacBook pro (2)" or even "my MacBook pro (4)"....
