So I'll close my MacBook with safari "X"ed out but not quit. When I open my MacBook up about an hour or so later, I'll click on safari mad it doesn't load... It's not that big of a deal, it's just annoying to have to restart my computer every time I want to go on safari.
I've had major problems with Safari 4 on my macbook pro. I first downloaded the beta and it just wouldn't work. I'd open the browser and the home page would load up fine, after that is when the problems would come. If I opened any other tabs and loaded a page, any page the browser would freeze. I couldn't close a tab and the tab I was on was completely unresponsive, if I tried to scroll, the bar would move but nothing would happen. Tabs would freeze half loaded and in general it was pretty annoying.
I thought this was just a beta problem, but safari 4 ran fine on my mac pro. I was still on 3 and pretty happy. But 10.5.8 has now upgraded my safari to 4 and it has the exact same problems. I've found an old dmg for 3, and I'm going to reinstall it after I take this MBP to the apple store (I also have a problem with writing DVD's so I figure I can have safari looked at then too). I'm pretty sure it's some sort of software program, as the white macbook I had before this MBP did the exact thing too (I used migration assistant to transition between the two).
I'm trying to make an extremely simple HTML page using TextEdit (saving it as an .html file) and none of my code seems to be working. It simply displays the code i typed in without having any effect.
I go on Justin.tv all the time to watch the Office and when I do I don't notice any lag but recently I have occasionally. I checked activity monitor and it says the Flash Plug in is at around ~45% CPU. Why does it hog so much CPU? How can I change this? Is this normal for flash?? I thought my MBP would be able to handle this..
Every time I try to open a specific website, it pulls up an error saying "This site requires the use of JavaScript. Please check your Internet settings.". Javascript is enabled on Safari, but still won't work. I've tried opening it in Firefox and Google Chrome... same thing! I tried to uninstall and reinstall, no luck.
Sometimes when I'm using Safari, and I scroll the page up and down, its not a very smooth scroll, it kind of lags a little. Especially when the page is still loading.
Actually this happens on both my iMac and Macbook Pro, so I'm starting to think that this is normal, and it might be because I don't have the fastest broadband connection. Because when I take my MBP to my mom's house, Safari is always smooth, and she has a pretty fast connection there.
Also, when I go to certain forums, and there a lot of GIF. images, it lags a lot.
I installed adobe flash player 9.0 extension for safari on my Mac OS X Lion system. The installation went well. But the web page that needs it complains that the extension is being blocked by my browser. I can't figure out why this is happeneing. I'm not intentionally blocking any extensions to Safari.
I am haveing and issue conencting. The probelm is when an ethernet connection is working Wifi is not, when Wifi is working ethernet is not. The issue is the netowrk control panel says Im always connected through wifi and ethernet 100% of the time but Safari or Firefox will not load a web page. It is strange because in Terminal I can ping any website. I'v restarted the router, the computer, I have even reloaded the OSX Lion. I have al the most up to date definitions. From a little bit of reasearch I see this is a ongoing issue and it is very frustrating. It is not a netowrk issue all my other devices work perfect when connected to wifi. 3 windows machines ipad iphone etc. Is the network card bad on the late 2011 macbooks?
as I try to open either one, a small winddow promps me that I need a newer version of either one but as I go to software update, I'm told that my software is up-to-date. What to do now?
Just opened my Safari (Yahoo browser) to be told that I need to up grade. I have Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) and the new Safari 4 will not work with my OSX 10.3.9...... is there a later version of Safari that will work with the "new yahoo" damn them..... and Panther... if so where can I download it.
Ok I've just checked it out and found that I can't, as the next version up from 1.3.2 needs Tiger
So ! what is the best/ fastest/simplest/ up to date browser for Panther ( Camino 1.6.8 ?) also, How do i throw out my obsolete Safari so it wont take up space for nothing.
"Safari 4 beta leaves data, privacy trail in its wake" There are gigabytes of hidden files accumulating on your Mac. In fact, there are individual jpeg and png thumbnails for every Web page you've visited since downloading Safari 4 beta, including images of that "transgender swine in heels" (i.e. the other white meat), Website you seem so fond of. It froze my Mac just once too often already too. Safari 4 is out the door!
First, I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and do not have Time Machine. Secondly, I need to have Safari 3.X on my MBP for work yet I cannot revert back no matter what I have tried. I will admit however that I've only tried the suggestion as outlined at the following link: http://not-noticeably.net/entry/reverting-to-safari-3-from-safari-4-on-mac-os-x-105 The tip at the above link seems to only work for 10.5.X or lower. MBP; V 10.6; 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; 2 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM
My Safari is buggy. When I open the Safari AP no windows open. When I go to File>New Window the following window opens and then Safari crashes every time. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make Safari work again?
I'm using Mac OS 10.7.3 on 2.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. I can't get bookmarks to work in Safari. I try to bookmark things and nothing is saved in the bookmarks window.
I often find a random safari window showing some advert or something and have worked out that it's imdb.com - go there and browse and it craftily opens a window behind the active one.
I recently got a MacBook Pro 2Ghz and therefore would like to try Safari out. I used Firefox on Windows and I loved the shortcut to the Google Search (CMD+K).
But it isn't there in Safari. So I googled it and found out I can make my own shortcut for it. This is what people have said I should do:
Quote:
1. Open System Preferences. 2. Click on Keyboard & Mouse. 3. Click on Keyboard Shortcuts. 4. Click the + to add a new shortcut. 5. Choose Safari from the Application menu. 6. Type Google Search... (without the quotes) into the Menu Title field. Those three dots are an ellipses, formed by typing Option-semicolon (not three periods). 7. Press Command-K in the Keyboard Shortcut field. 8. Click Add. 9. Close and reopen Safari.
I couldn't make the ellipses through Option-semicolon, but alt-X. I think it's because it's a Danish keyboard, but I don't know.
But here's the problem: It doesn't work.
I've done it step by step and I've tried to restard the computer and done it again, it just doesn't work.
I can't access my homebanking website (it uses Safari). When I try to, the website says I don't have Java Installed (it was working till last week). If I access Java test page, it says Java is working good. If I access my homebanking with Firefox, it runs OK.
So far, I have noticed that in Safari 5.1.4 Google maps doesn't work correctly. Whenever I enter directions from and to locations, the site just sits there "Loading." It works perfectly fine in Firefox on the same account on (and running while Safari is). Also, a random error is on TrueAchievements.com, everytime I go to update my status, I get a little box that says something went wrong. Again, it works perfectly fine in Firefox running side-by-side. I haven't run across any other problems, but it wouldn't surprise me if I do at some point. I have tried disabling extensions, just in case, but that solved nothing. Is this version of Safari just broken or is there anything I can do?
Info: MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.7.2), 2.3GHz Intel Core i7
After updating the last safari my "sent" sound won't work. Also my printer stopped working and my bank doesn't support that last update. I've been having all kinds of issues since I went to lion.
I was using safari completly fine, even after it updating to 5.1.5 it still worked fine then a few days ago it wouldn't open and the following error message appeared:
