View 1 RepliesI am running mac os x 10.5.8. I want to run the apache server, but i get the following error: (2)No such file or directory: httpd: could not open error log file /private/var/log/apache2/error_log. Unable to open logs. It is the first time I try using Web Sharing on my machine, but somehow it seems some files are missing. Is it possible to install the apache server anew?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWith any Unix machine, one can run at the command line:- apachectl -S This will show all virtual servers configured in Apache, and will break if there are any obvious problems in the httpd .conf files. It's very handy for testing a new configuration before restarting the server. With Mac OS X Server though, this doesn't work properly. Sure, I can run that command and see a virtual server or two, but with the introduction of the server Apache wrappers, the command line tools read a very different configuration than the `serveradmin` tool does.
e.g. Wrappers like:-<IfDefine MACOSXSERVER>
....
</IfDefine>
or <IfDefine WEBSERVICE_ON>
[code]....
ps. Running `sudo serveradmin stop web && sudo serveradmin start web` really compared to `apachectl graceful`; it's painfully slow and doesn't provide a way to test a custom configuration before attempting to restart.

how to set apache to listen to onlt certain ip's? I tried changing the httpd.conf file using the listen command, but it still listens to all ips. If I adjust the default website to listen to lets say 192.168.2.2:80 it does, but then seems like it breaks server admin, where changes do not save.Â

I have a Mac mini running Leopard server (10 user) and I am getting an error in the system log: "May 3 14:52:25 mini01 org.apache.httpd[941]: SSLCertificateFile: file '/etc/certificates/Default.crt' does not exist or is empty". I do not have web services running, nor is Apache 1.2 running. I was trying to update to Apache 2.2 but it constantly failed so I just shut web services down (using this system for training NOT critical). How do I stop what appears to be Apache 2.2 from launching/looking for a non-existant SSL certificate?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my Server running 10.7.0 to version 10.7.3 and single-sign-on no longer works for my users. The 10.7.3 Lion Server System is bound to our Active Directory Server running on Win2003 R2 Server. I tried un-binding and rebinding the system but.. no luck. When a user now tries to login to our shares via AFP with SSO credentials they recieve the message Â
I can run the id command from terminal on the OS X server and it is seeing AD users. Unfortunately, no one can log into the server shares via AFP with an AD user.Â

I don't understand how it happened, but a school I work with has had the SUS rip through 80Gig in a few days (Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8). Same as with my home server (Lion Server 10.7.3).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a goodworking SUS (10.6.8) working but the drive is getting full so i change the location of the files to another disk (in the xserve)and follow instructions from Apple (page 84 from the manual System Imaging) sudo cp -p /private/var/db/swupd/html /Volumes/My_Volume/My_Software_Updates_Folder/This works and i copy the files to a new drive. I also change the SUS so that theu host files for Lion clients url..works also, start SUS in Server Admin but when clients wants to connect i get an error that there is no SUS available and when i use the browser for an check i get een Forbidden error url...ForbiddenYou don't have permission to access /index.sucatalog on this server.Apache/2.2.21 (Unix) Server at 127.0.0.1 Port 80.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTrying to set up the Software Update Server under 10.6.8 Server. Have everything set up properly as per Apple's documentation, but all clients error out on software updates (saying they can't find the index. sucatalog file). When you view this file, which is an alias, within the HTML folder that is created when you enable the Software Update service in Server Admin, the alias doesn't link to an original.I've tried this on two separate 10.6.8 Server installations and I get the same error on both machines.Where is the alias "index.sucatalog" supposed to point to?Software Update Error Log in Server Admin says "Symbolic link not allowed or link target not accessible" and points to the alias file.

I noticed that my Lion Software Update Server has exclamation marks next to all updates from 6/11/12 to 6/13/12. I can not get then to copy, enable or download to my unmanged computers. There are two updates drom 6/15/12 that are working. There are 12 updates in total with this issue.Â
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running Lion Server 10.7.4, with Software Update Server running. My clients are all configured to hit that server as I have them pointed to it via a preference modification (I've also used Workgroup Manager with the same results). What's happening is this:
Client runs SW update locally, it goes to my server and either:
1. It finds no updates (although this is false). If I run same update to Apple's servers ot finds updates
or
2.It finds updates but not all of them. This is what's happening more of the time.
I can verify in the access logs on the server that clients are in fact hitting the server. Is there some sort of cache that needs to be cleared? I was reading something about an Apache issue, or perhaps DNS? I have tried both local IP address as well as name of server.

I just configured my Snow Leopard Server to distribute Lion update's [URL]I also see that the sync is competed with all latets Lion update's and all are enabled. I've adjust all the settings on the clients:sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL [URL]The problem is that all my 10.6 and 10.7 clients doesnt see any availble update's and running the Software Update on the cllient i get the message "The software is up-to-date" I checked all the configs.....reset the complete SUS server and started all over but still the same issue!

"Software Update can't connect to the Update Server" - so I can't even check to see if updates are available. This has been going on for sometime. For a while if I created a new admin account and used that it would work, but not today.Tried creating a new admin account but to no avail.
I clcik on the Apple Icon, (top left hand side of screen), click on SOFTWARE UPDATE, it runs for a split second, then: [URL]after which I check my internet connect to see that it's fine. (And I attempt to run SU with nothing else using the internet). [URL] I've checked the forum and found a few people with the same problem. I've tried deleting PLISTs and using 008.008.008.008 DNS address, [URL], but still cannot get it to work. I still have my old G4 Power running OS 10.5.8 connected to the same modem (Netcomm NB6PLus4w Modem which has 4 ports) as my Mac Mini, and it runs Software Update without any issues. So it's not my internet connection and it's not the Apple server, so it's something about the Mac Mini that's not right.

I am trying to update my Mac book because it is saying that software updates are available (Mac OS X Lion version 10.7.3). But I keep getting a message saying "Some of the selected updates could not be installed. Software updates can't connect to the update server. Make sure you are connected to the internet and then try again"I am using a DLINK wireless router and have had problems with the internet connection dropping in and out on my Macbook, Ipad and iphone but it now seems to be working on all devices so given I am connected to the internet I don't know why the software updates won't install on my Macbook.

I got some eMacs for cheap and am currently cleaning them up.
When I try to run Software Update on them, I get the message that says "Software Update can't find the update server. Make sure you are connected to the internet, then try again."
These computers are definitely connected to the internet as I can browse from them.
Is it possible that they are looking for an old update server?
They're running 10.4.7 and 10.4.8.
I've tried deleting the com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist file as described here but that didn't work.
Yesterday, I was about to install a couple of updates when I realized that they'd force me to restart. So I closed out Software Update and went along with my business. I also decided to change the short name of my account, as I took over my brother's and wanted to change it.Today, I saw that iTunes 9.1 had come out and ran Software Update and lo and behold, Software Update stalls with nearly no progress and hops around the dock. I switched to Software Update and it tells me: "Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem." and under that "Software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, and then try again."
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.
Why 10.5.6 is still not showing on my software update?? yet?

What I can't seem to find is how to best control Apache. My requirements are:
1) I need Apache to start up when the system boots
2) In order to start Apache, I have a script that automatically enters the pass phrase in order to start SSL.
